Public engagements fallen

Royal engagements have fallen from 3338 in 2014 to 2079 in 2022.
He Queen used to do more engagements even as a 90 year old, than her grandchildren.
Engagements falling by more than a third is significant. What is the point of them if they are not even going to do what they are supposed to do?

Bea and Eugenie have their own careers and it was never in the plan for them to be working royals- much to the disgust of their dad! Zara isn’t even “Royal” in the sense of having a title and Louise not likely to be promoted after university, a summer job in a garden centre indicates her parents are looking at a more conventional life for her

Andrew pushed for Bea and eugenie to be working royals. They have went off and done their own thing because the answer was a clear no. Louise could be part time, during the holidays. Zara and Mike could be given titles.
But Charles wants less working royals, but the same amount of money. And William and Kate only want to do fun engagements like sports matches or film premieres.

That made me laugh. Yes, Edward. Yes indeed.
Despite Sophie supporting a lot of really good charities, they really don't engage the public at all.
They went on a royal tour a few months ago to somewhere Caribbean and the press barely reported it, no one knew about it.

I do think W&K have to pull their finger out

I thought Edward and Sophie had a deliberately low key tour with very few press opportunities

Maybe that was the case (after the W&K royal tour debacle,) but surely there will come a point when the public will be saying...what do they actually DO for all this money

I don't think the Duchess of Kent does any royal engagements. And the Duke of Kent is 87. So he won't do lots at his age.,

Looks like there were more officials than crowds. I guess they will probably bin doing dedicated overseas tours any more. I mean why would anyone be interested in the views of the Queen's youngest son and his wife, and it is a n powerful reminder of the countries pre-independent colonization by the British. Do I remember seeing that Harry and Meghan were going to 'do' Africa, but William got the hump or have I just made that up !

Name change occasionally which is eminently sensible and usually when my sister tells me she's recognised a post. No i haven't. But I would expect them (the ones who assault others) to be treated more seriously by the courts rather than what is happening now. I also don't see why you think its funny or acceptable 🙄
