Public engagements fallen

Royal engagements have fallen from 3338 in 2014 to 2079 in 2022.
He Queen used to do more engagements even as a 90 year old, than her grandchildren.
Engagements falling by more than a third is significant. What is the point of them if they are not even going to do what they are supposed to do?

Re the purple dalmation. My phone cover has a splotchy coloured dalmation on it and i was fishing for any name... I have photos to prove this if you require.

rattymol · 16/04/2023 12:54

Thanks. Yes Charles did 521 engagements in 2019. More than the 470 necessary for each of them to do, to equal previous level of engagements.

Can't say I'm a Royal fan, but you do realise that's about 8 people working everyday? Do you work every day OP, no weekends, no holidays?

This.

Also only retire when you’re in your 90’s, and too ill to carry out engagements, then die about a year later. If you’re going to keep working until that age then there’s no way you could do a regular 40 hour week like most people.

CatherineCawoodsScarf · 16/04/2023 12:55

I find Prince Edward the most pointless of them all - some sort of detoxified Prince Philip without the charisma

@vera99 👏

rattymol · 16/04/2023 12:55

Purpledalmation I was just curious. And every single comment I have ever read from you is defending the royals, unless they are harry and Meghan.

@purpledalmation
I think you mean superficial rather than lukewarm

Charles is anointed head of the church - he is also above the law

Much more serious issues involved

Also , the purple name thing? Is it a secret lol ?

vera99 · 16/04/2023 12:55

As Prince would say Purple Reign, Purple Reign....

rattymol · 16/04/2023 12:56

Fluffy puppy except the queen in her nineties regularly did more engagement than younger royals.

You are all going to ignore the number of engagements Charles did? And his health does not appear to be great.

The irony is not lost on me that so much scrutiny is on the royals. More than ever before.

They started this. Dogwhistle on scrutiny of H&M regarding everything from her wardrobe, Frogmore etc. In her case, overblown and hounding.

Now, not just republicans, more people who didn't particularly care or notice their existence are asking questions.

They opened the floodgates. You reap what you sow......

No, you have completely got that wrong. I am defending people who can't answer back against lies, distortions and smear campaigns from H&M.

My position is simple. I can't stand people who gaslight and smear family. To me family is what makes life worth it. To take shots at a man (and his family) who walked you down the aisle because your own father was sick, and who looked proud to be doing it, is just disgusting.

Novella4 · 16/04/2023 13:01

@purpledalmation

Can't answer back??

They ALL answer back via their favoured media mouthpieces!
Do keep up

LadyKenya · 16/04/2023 13:02

Here we go!

rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:02

Notanotheroneagain I totally agree. I used to ignore the royals. All the articles about Harry and Meghan made me wonder what was going on and read up about it. Through that I learned about the book exposing the royals and was shocked

I'll own superficial.

No conspiracy, joint venture or oddness here... purple Dalmatian.

@rattymol

Was that book
'And what do you do?' By Norman baker ( former privy councillor )

rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:07

Yes it was. Sorry I could not remember the name

The Queen died in 2022. Cut them some slack

Novella4 · 16/04/2023 13:08

Of course I believe why your particular name is as it is - but haven't you noticed all the other 'purples' ?
All sharing the same views ?
And never seen in the same room ...hmm
Kidding !
But why ?

Yes and then she died in 2022 and they grieved for her. It's fine for them to take a break!

Novella4 · 16/04/2023 13:09

@potatowhale
Sure

It's not like we don't all get cut slack for months when a parent dies

rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:10

So they get a years bereavement leave?
And what about before the queens death? Why so few engagements then?
I got along with most people one day of compassionate leave when my grandmother died and two weeks when my mother died.

I agree. Which is why I wondered if it was a secret reference. Someone once made a reference to a Facebook group. Maybe that is called purple something

when you choose a username and they are all taken, don't you just gaze around the room and latch onto anything? Pink flowers, orange clock, purple dalmation?

Just me lacking any imagination then?
