Public engagements fallen

rattymol · 16/04/2023 10:41

Royal engagements have fallen from 3338 in 2014 to 2079 in 2022.
He Queen used to do more engagements even as a 90 year old, than her grandchildren.
Engagements falling by more than a third is significant. What is the point of them if they are not even going to do what they are supposed to do?

Of course the number of Royal engagements have fallen. Unfortunately it was always going to happen as William and Kate aren't interested in doing the job they just want the money. The both of them have always done less visits them then the Queen.

And the visits will go down as Princess Anne does less as she gets older, and she has always done far more then all the other royals.

purpledalmation · 16/04/2023 13:17

No Facebook group either!!

In fact the reason I had to change my user name was because my previous one had 8888 at the end. I think it was something to do with teletext when I was a kid?? Apparently its something to do with the klu klux clan or white supremacists?? Not a fucking clue, but MNHQ messaged me and I was mortified and changed to my phone cover.

rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:18

There were some years where between them, Kate and William did as many engagements as the elderly queen did.

Looking like the lot of them will be getting improvements necessary and a 3-month review of progress and if they don't go up a grade will need to be managed out. 😀

😂😂😂

rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:21

It used to be a set amount of money going to each royal. If they still did that the amount of money would reduce. Now it all goes to Charles and he decides who gets what.

Show this so called 'slimming down' of monarchy please ?

More lies and PR guff

Will it result in less money taken by the Windsors from the people ?

Will the Windsors remove the rule stating their take fro the state can NEVER go down no matter what the state of the economy ?

Well their income will vary as it’s a percentage of the profits from the Crown estate, the balance of which is returned to the Treasury. KC is actively working to reduce costs too

rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:27

Profits are doing fine. They rely n rents.

@purpledalmation

You misunderstand ( I think)

I see why you have your username .
Haven't you noticed all the other 'purples'? All royalist?
Iced purple
Cox's purplepippin ( might have that one wrong)

But lots of other users with purple in their username- like a club
That's why people are wondering

rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:30

I have googled and there are Facebook private groups called royal purple. Or purple team The Royals.
This might be totally coincidental of course.

@VanCleefArpels
No.
Their income can never go down. It's written in

Nice work if you can get it

So no matter how the estate does ( it is not their property ) the money the 'royals' take can not go down , even if profits do

purpledalmation · 16/04/2023 13:30

@Novella4 I do get it, but the link to royal purple didn't even enter into it. Can't speak for others of course. I'll change it if you prefer. Just give me another lol

I suggest you read the Norman baker book . He's not a journalist ,or 'royal expert ' (lol) he's a former Mp and former privy councillor

The Monarch always does the most or near the most engagements. It is the Monarch who gets the allowance of a set percentage of the profits from the business of the Crown Estate. Much of the grant goes to paying staff and paying trademen to maintain buildings. Those expenses occur regardless of how many younger royals carry out engagements. Working royals, other than the Monarch, are a bonus.
It is understandable that this past year has seen fewer public engagements. The BRF was in mourning. There has been a loss of Philip, The Queen, Andrew and Harry and Princess Alexandra and The Duke of Kent seem quite frail.
It will be interesting to see what change happens over the next few years..

rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:41

Anne has often done the most engagements

OP posts:
rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:42

The Heir gets the duchy profits which are considerable. Lots of rent money.

OP posts:
rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:43

And Andrew always did very few engagements and those he did were largely to golf clubs and golf club dinners.

That’s a lovely dog I assume it's yours otherwise maybe corgis been more appropriate. 😉

Off-topic but the names changing is very promiscuous now - they should only allow one other alias which then covers off not doxing yourself in sensitive threads

rattymol · 16/04/2023 13:46

I also thought the message was the royal family did not need harry and Meghan.
There is Louise, Beatrice and Eugenie who all seem keen to be working royals. There is Zara and Mike. There is even Sarah.
But Charles wants the same amount of money, and less people to distribute it to.

VanCleefArpels · 16/04/2023 13:48

Thank you. The specific issue of Buck House renovations will explain some of this. Whilst the sovereign grant might not do down the royals are not immune to inflation so it’s mischievous to imply they are rolling about with loads of extra cash at the expense of the plebs. What’s the alternative? Start selling the paintings?

I’m being facetious for effect. I do believe KC and PoW will approach finances in a very different way than before - in terms of personnel and use of buildings. In particular I strongly believe Buckingham Palace will become a tourist attraction / museum and only infrequent royal venue in years to come.
