The royal family
Nellieinthebarn · 13/04/2023 22:19

I wouldn't have expected her to be invited. I don't invite my brothers ex wife to anything.

Mrsjayy · 13/04/2023 22:20

She is the mother of the Queens grandchildren that's probably why she went to the funeral she also has a weird co dependent relationship with Andrew , but I wouldn't have expected her at the coronation.

GrazingSheep · 13/04/2023 22:22

Given that she spent Christmas at Sandringham it’s surprising that she has not been invited.

CeliaNorth · 13/04/2023 22:31

The Queen's funeral was partly a family occasion, and she and the Queen were on good terms towards the end of the Queen's life.

The Coronation is entirely a state occasion, there's no reason why she should be there. The Abbey only accommodates about 2,000 people, I should think quite a lot of people haven't been invited.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 13/04/2023 22:46

I bet she was sitting by the letterbox every morning eagerly waiting for the postman. The poor love must be crestfallen. Hopefully she can find a good Murder She Wrote marathon to watch on the box that day.

The invites were emailed.

She'd only start doing one of her ebullient waves in the middle of it all.

Mammyloveswine · 14/04/2023 00:44

Is Andrew going to be there? I presume not so if his ex-wife rocks up then there'll be all sorts of press! Especially with Meghan not attending..

HerodAntipasti · 14/04/2023 00:50

Hopefully she’ll accidentally receive the invitation meant for the lady from the Black Eyed Peas.

LuluBlakey1 · 14/04/2023 00:50

According to the papers, it is a much smaller coronation than usual- less than half the numbers that were at HM The Queen's coronation. It is a Religious and State occasion and priority is given to the Church and representatives of State and government and close family. She is the disgraced, divorced ex-wife of his disgraced brother. She is not a member of the Royal family any longer.

AskMeMore · 14/04/2023 01:12

It is not a smaller Coronation. But there are less seats in the Abbey than there were for the Queens coronation. Back then they crammed extra people in by erecting internal scaffolding with seats. But today it would not meet health and safety standards and would exceed the numbers allowed under fire regulations. That is why the numbers attending are lower

AskMeMore · 14/04/2023 01:13

Everyone knows Sarah Ferguson lives with Andrew. They are divorced but live in the same house together unlike some other Royal couples that are married.
Petty and small minded not to invite her. But that is Charles all over.

ShippingNews · 14/04/2023 01:21

She said in an interview a couple of weeks ago that she wouldn't be going, and that she'd be watching on television and having a cup of tea . Sounds fine to me.

Yes, surely if you were separated you'd go to your ex MIL funeral especially if you had children. Funerals are about supporting the family

Andrew is attending.

caringcarer · 14/04/2023 03:10

As Meghan not going there will be a spare seat. She could go with Andrew.

mathanxiety · 14/04/2023 04:03

Pretty shocking that Andrew is attending imo.

Luredbyapomegranate · 14/04/2023 04:13

Well he’s got far fewer seats than the Queen did so they are quite precious.

He invited her for Christmas didn’t he, so I don’t think it’s any personal slur. She’s the long ex-wife of a disgraced non working royal, there’s no reason she needs to be at a state event.

user1492757084 · 14/04/2023 05:45

I think she's fine with it. No complaints. Why is this a story? Millions of people will not get an invitation. Fergie is an ex, as are Serena and Autumn - there has to be a cut off somewhere.

Why is that strange? The Bidens are head of a state (and spouse) that's closely linked to the UK. It's a diplomatic move, not a claim to be best pals. This isn't just a family event.

Honestly don’t understand why everyone still pretends they’re ex’s. They live together at Windsor lodge right? For years and years. She’s part of the family whether anyone likes it or not. Andrew goes but not her? Very odd.
