The royal family

Pretty shocking that Andrew is attending imo.

No more shocking than his mummy paying off his victim. But the British public seem to have forgiven all so that they can hang their bunting without feeling those annoying uncomfortable feeling things. One must simply buy bigger rugs to brush everything under.

LadyEloise1 · 14/04/2023 07:40

So Andrew and Fergie live in the same house but are divorced.
Charles and Camilla live in separate houses but are married.
Not conventional but whatever floats your boat. Smile

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 14/04/2023 08:04

Probably won't make Fergie 🚜 feel any better but I can confirm that I have not been invited to the coronation either.

She said in an interview a couple of weeks ago that she wouldn't be going, and that she'd be watching on television and having a cup of tea . Sounds fine to me.

Yes I saw that -loose women I think.

MurderAtTheBeautyPageant · 13/04/2023 22:46

I bet she was sitting by the letterbox every morning eagerly waiting for the postman. The poor love must be crestfallen. Hopefully she can find a good Murder She Wrote marathon to watch on the box that day.

I’m getting The Windsors’ vibes from this 🤣

I read that too.

I thought it was a good way of taking it in her stride. She doesn't see it as a snub, and will still be celebrating. A good, positive attitude, I thought

Serenster · 14/04/2023 09:52

Apparently the invitation list was so tight that only Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer got a plus one with their invitation. All the other politicians have just been invited to attend by themselves.

Given that, I don’t see it as that controversial that Sarah Ferguson wasn’t invited.

Argyllsocks567 · 14/04/2023 09:57

Tbh given that KC is head of the CofE - the central message of which is forgiveness - I think this is a pretty poor show. Ditto Fergie sitting in a cottage alone at Sandringham waiting to see her dc at Christmas while the rest of the RF attended celebrations inside.

I mean the rest of them
are hardly paragons of virtue are they?

Whaeanui · 14/04/2023 10:00

That’s what I think, and I don’t particularly like Fergie. I think they’ve been rude to her and she’s desperate to stay at the lodge so will curtsey all the way to the ground for people that treat her poorly

Babyroobs · 14/04/2023 10:04

It seems rude, can she not have Meghans seat ? Fergie has adopted the Queens corgis after the Queens death, she should absolutely be invited !

KnickerlessParsons · 14/04/2023 10:05

$They have close links with Irish. Irish people have special visas so they can work in the US etc The UK always speaks of a special relationship - Americans never! Biden didn't even spend more than a day.*

Changing the subject - I really don't get the Irish/American thing. There are far, far more people in US that don't have Irish ancestry than do.
Even "Irish Joe" has more British ancestry than Irish!

Is this on the wrong thread ?

PilshardPillToSwallow · 14/04/2023 10:28

She's not some random though she is very much in Andrews life. Why should some never heard of dignitry go but not her)

cornfleurs · 14/04/2023 10:34

I agree, it seems churlish not to invite her

I am genuinely surprised at all the posters arguing for something that could easily be seen as the Royal Family being supportive of Prince Andrew by inviting his former wife and current companion. Unexpected!

PilshardPillToSwallow · 14/04/2023 10:52

It's nothing to do with Andrew. It would perhaps be different if she had remarried years ago and had new family.
The truth is she never left did she
She's very much a part of the royal family and in comparison to Andrew it seems its her who takes the punishment. Indeed id rather she went than Andrew.

2bazookas · 14/04/2023 11:05

GrazingSheep · 13/04/2023 22:22

Given that she spent Christmas at Sandringham it’s surprising that she has not been invited.

That was the first family social she'd been invited to for many years; one can only suppose she reminded them all why she'd been excluded.

RedToothBrush · 14/04/2023 11:09

She's probably relieved and pleased tbh!

Why would she want to be there?

A family do in private is probably more important to her and she's clearly valued in that respect.

There is a hierarchy here which she's not officially part of, which is fair enough. It doesn't mean she unofficially excluded too.

She gets her cake and is able to eat it without having to do the hard work of it.

WinnieTheW0rm · 14/04/2023 11:11

She's very much a part of the royal family

I don't think she was really part of the RF since her divorce. She's barely been included in anything, except some family occasions (usually when important ones for her DC). She is clearly very supportive (loyal to the Crown, just as Diana was) and gets on well with a number of the individuals, but is very much to one side

CathyorClaire · 14/04/2023 11:15

They're now regularly wheeling Andrew out and being seen with him so I'm quite surprised they're not indulging him with a plus one.

Anyone know if the hanger-on sons-in-law are invited?

CeliaNorth · 14/04/2023 11:15

That was the first family social she'd been invited to for many years

It was Philip who wouldn't have her around, or so I've read. Sarah and the Queen were quite friendly. It was Sarah who found the corgi pups the Yorks gave the Queen in lockdown, which apparently were a great pleasure and comfort to her.

But the Coronation is not a family social event. Why is that so hard to understand? It's a major state occasion. Does everyone here invite all their extended family to major work events?

IcedPurple · 14/04/2023 11:17

PilshardPillToSwallow · 14/04/2023 10:28

Some posters here seem to think Charles and Camilla are sat around the kitchen table with a pile of Hallmark cards and a non leaking pen.

Obviously Charles will have input into who gets invited, but this is a state event, not a family knees up. "some never heard of dignitry" might actually be pretty important in the context of diplomacy or the Church of England. There is no reason to invite a woman who has been divorced from the King's brother for 3 decades, even if they may be 'together' in all but name.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 14/04/2023 11:17

Is Andrew going to be there? I presume not ...

I'd be amazed if he's not, given that he was prominent at the Easter Sunday service (surprised there wasn't much comment about that TBH)

Liveoppositeastream · 14/04/2023 11:56

Exactly what @begoneday said. The Daily Fail haven't brainwashed their flag waving readers to hate him. It's all directed at Meghan.

Doubt she GAF. She's got all the pros with none of the cons now, so why would she.
