The royal family
viques · 14/04/2023 12:02

To be fair they did offer her a space at the back of Westminster Abbey to set up a trestle table to flog copies of her latest book. The offer was rescinded however when Harry got wind of it and said it wasn’t fair that he wasn’t included as three of the rooms at his house were jam packed with unsold copies of Spare and selling them would have helped to offset the cost of his flight.

They're now regularly wheeling Andrew out and being seen with him so I'm quite surprised they're not indulging him with a plus one.

Anyone know if the hanger-on sons-in-law are invited?

Won’t they be at home babysitting the kids parenting?

RonButterfield · 14/04/2023 12:04

Are Andrew and Fergie a couple again? Albeit unofficially?

Yes the plan to introduce Andrew back into public life is in full swing. I mean the Queen paid out £12.5 million, so of course the family think we should all forget about it now.

Unofficially is the key word here. This is the inauguration of the Head of State.

People get invited in their official capacity, not because they're chums.
M. and Mme Macron ✔️
Head of friendly state and their unmarried but officially recognised life-partner and cohabitatee ✔️
Brother's ex wife who he may or may not still be shagging ❎

Commonwealth representatives ahead of any of those.

AskMeMore · 14/04/2023 13:38

@WoodenFloorboards But it is fine to totally change protocol to allow Camillas family to have official roles?
I do not actually mind about that, but please do not pretend things are set ins tone. Charles could have invited Sarah if he wanted to. He chose not to. It was his decision.

Hopefully she’ll accidentally receive the invitation meant for the lady from the Black Eyed Peas.

This post hasn't received the recognition it well deserves.

Andrew shouldn't be there as well.

CathyorClaire · 14/04/2023 14:02

Have just posted this link on another thread but it's worth putting it out there again:

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/entertainment/celebrity/prince-andrew-to-be-brought-in-from-the-cold-as-king-mends-divisions-at-coronation/ar-AA19PgOh

Quite sickening that we're still being taken for mugs.

The whole thing stinks of keeping Andrew onside so the rumoured tell-all never sees the light of day.

MrsFinkelstein · 14/04/2023 14:17

Serenster · 14/04/2023 10:43

I am genuinely surprised at all the posters arguing for something that could easily be seen as the Royal Family being supportive of Prince Andrew by inviting his former wife and current companion. Unexpected!

It's really quite the pivot. It's the current new criticism of Charles and the RF on SM too.

Especially when, by Sarah's own words, she had no expectation of an invite a d is absolutely OK with not going.

AskMeMore · 14/04/2023 14:23

@Serenster It is because it just seems petty and spiteful. Andrew is there, so why not Sarah?

Can you explain to me how this is a change in protocol? I was under the impression that "page roles" were often family members, children of relatives/Courtiers.

Whaeanui · 14/04/2023 14:27

Royal Family being supportive of Prince Andrew by inviting his former wife

Thats not it. They already support her by allowing her to live at Windsor lodge. It seems like they want to give the appearance of not giving him support but in reality they allow them to stay there with her, pay his security and keep his possible criminal activities out of court. It isn’t that we want her there for Andrew, but to reflect what the truth actually is.

AskMeMore · 14/04/2023 15:13

Tom Bower is claiming Meghan was not invited because of Kates wishes.

cosmiccosmos · 14/04/2023 15:18

It'll be the slimmed down, costing cutting coronation.

Georgiepud · 14/04/2023 15:42

Tom Bower is claiming Meghan was not invited because of Kates wishes.

I doubt it. I reckon Kate has nothing to worry about there.

MrsFinkelstein · 14/04/2023 17:42

So you don't want a slimmed down monarchy, but you do want an all singing all dancing, big blow out Coronation with all the bling?

EsmaCannonball · 14/04/2023 17:46

Sod Meghan not going, whoever disinvited Fergie should be locked up straight in the Tower. Do they not know why we watch this shite? I want to see Fergie in a tangerine puffball dress, goosing a guardsman and winking at the archbish. And if William and Harry are going to have another dog bowl fight, I demand bodycams.

Vitriolinsanity · 14/04/2023 17:52

Well if Tom Bower says it then it must be true.

All this crap being written about Kate's attitude towards Megan is just shit stirring.

As to Fergie, sometimes people don't make the cut. She's lived grace and favour whilst pursuing he own projects long enough to know how this stuff works.

crumpet · 14/04/2023 17:56

The guest list has been reduced from the 7000 invited to the Queens coronation to 2000 for Charles. Why would an ex wife make the cut?

I like the cut of your jib!

But as Fergie herself said in an interview (I paraphrase) "if you leave the royal family, you can't complain if you don't get invited to stuff"

And she's not complaining - the contrary, she's looking forward to a private celebration

I don't think Andrew is going to be rehabilitated in to any representative role. Just the odd appearance at holidays on the various estates, church attendances and the really big occasions (but after the Coronation there won't be any of those for ages)

PussBilledDuckyPlait · 14/04/2023 18:01

Maybe she didn't especially want to go. What's in it for her? Sitting on an uncomfortable seat watching Charlie be crowned - no great novelty for someone who's attended many Royal events before - then watching everyone take the piss out of her outfit afterwards. I'd swerve, if I were her.
