Harry rowed it back and called it unconscious bias. Meghan has not rowed it back at all. AFAIK she’s said nothing more about it at all.

The palace does leak things; not the royals directly but their 'people'. They always have and always will. They are also very good at cover ups and sweeping things under the carpet.

There definitely is unconscious bias and blatant racism in society generally so probably some of the royals.

Meghan grew up as an only child, as did Doria apparently or wasn't close to her family after her parents died. Her father faked a heart attack. Why should Meghan invite people she's estranged from, or hasn't sern or spoken to in 20+ years, to a destination /international wedding? Ever been to an international wedding? Would you be paying for their flights, accommodations, security, clothing, food, travel expenses? I certainly wouldn't. A random couple from down the street wouldn't even do that, it's just common sense.

Was it weird that Sophie only had 3 family members? Her mom, dad, and brother? And Sophie's actually from the UK. Where were the rest of her family and extended family. Apparently her 2nd cousins once removed should have been there, so where are they? A mystery of epic proportions many years later.

Also Doria was in Meghan's life, all throughout her life. That's been well established so there's no need to conspiracy theories dear.

I think Thomas was probably a good dad to Meghan when she was growing up but that whole messy business of paid photographs, and the things he said and did afterwards, were just wrong. Such a shame he’s ruined his relationship with his youngest daughter.

Thomas Markle has been absolutely vile to his daughter since he pulled out of her wedding.

Not just the staging photos thing, although that was embarrassing enough, Meghan got over that, and told him as much. But he lied about it, and admitted that he lied. There are least six other things that he did that are much worse than that.

Firstly, he made common cause with Piers Morgan and Dan Wootton, two of the journalists who have been on a years long rampage against Meghan, basically, he ganged up with his daughter's worst critics against her.

Secondly, he blackmailed her openly, saying he would do public interviews until she caved in to his demands, famously saying "it's time to take care of Daddy".. In one of the interviews, on Australian TV, he admitted that the photos plan was meant to ruin the wedding.

Thirdly, he accepted an invitation by the right wing anti-Meghan channel GB News to attend the Jubilee to "confront" Harry and Meghan. He also accepted an invitation to stay with Lady Colin Campbell who is notorious for quasi-daily YouTube rants about Meghan in which she accuses Meghan of fraud over the birth of her children, feeling conspiracies that her children "do not exist". It did not happen only because he had a stroke.

Fourthly, he threatened legal action to see Archie and Lili, even though he is estranged from ALL his other grandchildren.

Fifthly, he publicly stated he would testify against her in her Daily Mail lawsuit.

Sixthly, he has stated he will testify against her in the Samantha lawsuit.

Finally, he has appeared on really unpleasant YouTube Meghan hate channels that spread conspiracy theories, answering questions about whether Meghan had abortions as a teenager, was a "yacht girl", used her frozen eggs or surrogates etc.

This is just the stuff I remember.

Through all this, Doria has been a supportive presence to her daughter.

And yet some have problems with the "sainted" Doria.

There have been nasty stories on this very forum about Doria being a convict, Doria disappearing from Meghan's life, all because at one point her main residence was with her father, and not with her mother. When her main residence was with Thomas, no one said it was because he was in prison.

Not even the unpleasant Samantha has gone as far as to say that the woman she called "the maid" was ever in prison, and yet it is stated as a fact by some.

I can only conclude that those who have a problem with her have it because she is black because the same people do not have a problem with the above by Thomas

There is no other explanation as to why the parent who has been completely unproblematic gets slammed with sneering nastiness and untrue rumours, while the behaviour of the parent who has been so horrible so publicly gets a pass.

If there really is another explanation, @Cokefans I would genuinely love to hear it. Why are you sneering at Doria? What has she ever done wrong?

@MrsMaxDeWinter great post, I had no idea about 3 & 7! He really just lost himself. What an absolute travesty. I would be completely devastated if my father did any of that to me. I saw the horrible accusations you list about Doria here, it was disgusting and you’re right, she has done nothing at all for anyone here to attack her or accuse her whatsoever and there really can be only one explanation.

We often forget how nuts the lead up to the Jubilee was. Thomas was invited to make their attendance an absolute circus. Fortuitously, he fell ill before he could travel. The Colin Campbell woman had lined up a whole series of things for him to do, staying at her house, and had planned a "celebratory' dinner for him.

As for the YouTube channels, mainstream media is, for their sins, too responsible to give air to some of the wackier views, but they are in free flow on YouTube. The half-brother also has a channel on which he has a Meghan effigy wearing a "moon bump" and has been known to simulate the Meghan effigy having sex with a Harry effigy, complete with imaginary dialogue and sounds.

I remain stunned that anyone gives these people any kind of pass.

Well, regardless of the judgement on here on Doria's and Thomas's parenting - they have raised a confident, accomplished and empathetic woman. Doria has certainly been so supportive of Meghan during recent years, and presumably in the past as well.

Regarding the walkabout when I watched it on the day I thought Kate came across as pretty angry at times - William hid his emotions better.

Sophie had her uncle and aunt there and they stayed in Royal Lodge with the rest of the family. They also appeared with the royal family on the steps of the church after the wedding. We used to be neighbours so I knew them quite well.

I have never read that Doria ‘left Meghan with her father.’ I have read that Meghan lived with her Dad for a time during her childhood. Why should living with a father open the mother up to any questioning and queries? Yet there are no queries when a child lives with a mother? It’s likely Dad was having his turn at being main carer.

That ‘free spirit’ stuff came from an article and is that to be believed? I don’t know what ‘free spirit’ means. But both parents have been portrayed as ‘free spirits’ when younger.?

Doria has been a supportive loving parent to Meghan. Thomas proved not to be, as it turns out.

Thank you MrsDeWinter I had forgotten over half the things Thomas Markle did to hurt and embarrass his daughter Meghan. It’s damning behaviour on his part. And the half brother’s antics are vile. It’s sobering to read. I’ve experienced betrayal by a parent, but nothing like that which her father and her half brother have said, and done, in regards to Meghan.

They should get in the bin along with Campbell and Morgan and Clarkson and a whole host of others. What a miserable bunch they are.
