The royal family

Even as a child Harry was racist

How many times can Harry be excused as having unconscious bias? He was already making fun of people’s accents even as a child.

According to a new book that's coming out from Robert Jobson:

When he was a little boy, around eight years old, his mother took him and William for a ride on a London bus as a treat, arranged by her police protection officer Inspector Ken Wharfe.

On the bus, Diana had to tell Harry to stop mimicking the Sikh bus conductor’s pronounced Punjabi accent every time a passenger pressed the bell to get off. The conductor, a jovial chap wearing a bright yellow turban, was relaxed about Harry’s casual racism, but Diana was so mortified that she eventually told Ken Wharfe to abandon the trip.

Diana, Ken, William and Harry all got off at Green Park and Diana immediately smacked Harry and told him: ‘Don’t you ever do that again.’

Afterwards, she made Harry write to Inspector Wharfe to apologise for his behaviour and for spoiling the day he’d arranged for the boys.
I have spoken to Wharfe, who confirms the incident, and I have also seen the letter, still in his possession, in which Harry jokes about the phrase he used.

As he was a child at the time, he can probably be forgiven — but the incident demonstrates that on one issue at least, Diana was in complete agreement with Charles. She would not tolerate any form of racism from their two sons.

I am.an ethnic minority. My mom.said she had to tell.me off because the first time I saw a Sikh man I shouted, there's Father Christmas 😫I am not racist. I think things said when you are 8,as OP has mentioned, are not indicative of being racist. You don't fully understand the implications

At 8 you are old enough to know what is acceptable though and your parents needed to explain to you. Your example is innocent to be fair.

My DS came home saying nobody likes "Natalie".... because she has been saying black people are the worst! I was mortified. I explained to DS that "Natalie" didn't know what she was talking about and her mother clearly speaks like that at home and that's where her own DD has got it from.

Kids know at 8. Although OP thread is ridiculous nevertheless.

🥱

I come on here to hopefully escape Harry and Megs

Diana smacked Harry?

What’s weird about that?

Kanaloa · 07/04/2023 22:34

Singapore4 · 07/04/2023 22:24

@Kanaloa your 8 year old may have done it before but surely you would explain NOT to mimick someone's accent because if someone was to over hear them people would be offended and as a parent someone may assume the child has heard that within the home.

Agree about the Kardashian example though.

Of course I would, if my kids ever did so. And op has explained that (according to her sources) Harry’s mother did correct him, punish him, and encourage him to make amends. So… not sure what else can be done. And in the grand scheme of things ‘the royal family are racist and rude and feel they can behave badly to others’ is not really a big shock.

Don’t know why, but I thought this was a Harry Potter thread.

snore.

That would make an interesting funny thread, what house would each of the royals be in.

Don't know about the Houses, but Diana would definitely be the ghost of Myrtle Warren.

And why is it ridiculous? This is an excerpt from a book and harry is racist (based on his own actions and words as an adult). A child can be racist, even if they learned it from their own family or friends.

I dunno. I just didn’t think Diana would smack her children. TBH I never had a thought on this subject until tonight, so it came as a surprise. (If it’s even true.) She was also only a few years older than me, so not such a big generation gap and it was definitely not acceptable when I had my kids, though I did have them much later. But as I say, I never had any thoughts on the subject till tonight.

Samcro · 07/04/2023 22:52

I love the way that Harry writes a book and it’s all lies or discounted as his truth, some random writes a book and it has to be true!

Wedoronron · 07/04/2023 22:53

Lesina · 07/04/2023 21:22

Yes he was born evil! Born evil I tell you 😱🙄

You know it!

Hear me when I tell you his very soul was created in the devil's image. And Meghan, the witch was drawn thus into the burning evil and fanned it with her witchy hands.

I seem to recall the tabloids talking about her smacking her kids in the late 80’s

BlueBunting · 07/04/2023 22:56

FFS. An 8 year old child only copies learnt behaviour and witnessed behaviour of how to act. Especially when so cut off form the world. He was taught this was normal behaviour until he grew up and realised for himself it was wrong.

You know when children show sexualised behaviour you don’t think they are just wrong, you think, fuck, they are learning this from somewhere and being abused themselves. Not as bad but similar thing.

LadyWithLapdog · 07/04/2023 22:57

@Greenshake I didn’t know. I might have been too young at the time to read the tabloids and I definitely had no interest in the RF.

mybeautifuloak · 07/04/2023 22:59

I don't think much of Harry but I think even less if you OP. You sound seriously nasty and a little unhinged.

And harry can sue to his heart’s content. Or he can come out and say it's all a lie and dispute the story. After all, he's not one to back away from fighting the media. As for Harry’s own book, he admits it himself that his own memory isn't great and others have come out and disputed some of the claims he's made. Harry is free to do that in this case.

Because I shared an excerpt from a book? Because I post about my dislike for harry? Why does it bother you and others? Have I attacked you personally? I am offended by Harry, so what? He's a public figure, and I have every right to express my dislike about him. I can't stand racists, especially hypocrites like him. So what's your problem with me?

He grew up and he still kept doing it. He didn't learn from his mistakes.

If this is true, I've gained respect for Diana. Not letting him continue the ride and making him write an apology letter. Most people would probably just let their kids carry on

Nicecow · 07/04/2023 23:07

slowquickstep · 07/04/2023 22:10

Smacked not battered. Back in the olden days it is what a lot of parents done. Now you may think it doesn't work but neither does the discipline of the last 20 years. So both generations have got it wrong.

Agree. I was smacked it wasn't a big deal. Although if I'm honest I can't imagine smacking my child

BlueBunting · 07/04/2023 23:17

@MamoruHisaishi of course doing it as an adult when he knew it was wrong is different, but he was still fairly closeted until recently. But as an 8year old it wasn’t his fault. As an adult then yes.

IShouldGoToSleep · 07/04/2023 23:26

I don't know if that was racist, and at 8 it's probably forgivable. However, that he was extremely racist as a teen (who the hell thinks it's ok to dress up as Hitler?? I mean ...) and still thought it ok to pick on people at school (not least the matron), and that he trashes his own family and takes no responsibility for his many failings, indicates to me that Harry needs to do some growing up and spend some actual time in the real world.

Scyla · 07/04/2023 23:31

My best friend is Indian and he's racist. I was talking to him about an employee the other day and he looked her up and said oh she's a P*. He was no longer interested. We work in HR.

Seaside1972 · 07/04/2023 23:38

Jesus Christ. He was told off for being racist in public. Not told off for being racist. Who do you think taught him that??

Lolasgame · 07/04/2023 23:39
