Archewell: leading the way with compassion...

Archewell states on their website that their purpose is "leading the way with compassion"

I don't see Harry and Meghan role modelling compassion, certainly not towards either Harry's family or Meghan's family. To me this seems incongruous. Why don't they practice what they preach?

Empowering women by demonstrating how to marry a Prince.

Absolutely! How very empowered she is, such the feminist!

They've never done anything inspirational at alll, either or them

Well, Harry’s involvement with the Invictus Games is inspirational to many, so he deserves to be recognised for that.

obviously, it’s fairly recent. Not like Princess Anne’s involvement with riding for the disabled which she has been Patron/President of for over 50 years! That really is dedication. She really is an inspirational woman.

custardbear · 12/04/2023 11:44

@TrashyPanda - he's in a privileged place though where he gets parachuted into charitable things he chooses to do, very much suspect he has a raft of brains and brawn behind him doing to heavy lifting and strategy.
I seem to recall he also dropped like a hot coal when disappearing to Canada and there was a lot of bad feelings

Like all of the ‘working’ royals.

CathyorClaire · 12/04/2023 14:38

I can’t see a single they have done since starting Archewell that is inspirational.

Oh, I dunno.

They've managed to make £300k of what were originally charitable donations to the Royal Foundation and open to outside scrutiny disappear into an opaque private company controlled by Harry.

That's quite jaw-dropping even if not quite the way they intended.

That’s not what happened. He stopped answering her calls and texts first, before the wedding. It was on the Netflix series.

On the actual Netflix series, no less!!. Well obviously must be true then - the famous Netflix series is incapable of untruth.....

Whaeanui · 12/04/2023 14:48

@BadgerB the texts and missed calls were provided.

'Deflection! ... we're talking about Harry!

Not deflection, comparison. You can’t criticise him for something you don’t criticise the rest of the royals for.

purpledalmation · 13/04/2023 10:43

I think the figure the queen helped raise for charities was something like 1.5 billion pounds. That's puts the 3m into perspective

Roussette · 13/04/2023 10:46

Really? I've never seen that and would appreciate a source.

By the way... the Queen was Queen for 70 years. A bit of difference to two and bit years of Archewell wouldn't you say?

Sudeko · 13/04/2023 10:49

In a way, Harry and Meghan are extremely lucky that the monarchy still exists because they are not talented or charismatic as revealed when they spoke their truth in their own words for the past two years. They have made themselves rich through their association whereas a non-royal Harry would probably be living in a rented room and a non-royal Meghan back in the rented house in Canada. Instead they are pushing millions around accounts and flying in jets. Most of the other royals aren't talented either but they are grateful for the opportunity which they are ALL using to their advantage.

Roussette · 13/04/2023 10:54

They are charismatic which is why the media can't leave them alone
And that was the problem even before they left

Whaeanui · 13/04/2023 10:58

What’s wrong with renting? That’s a bit classist.

Sudeko · 13/04/2023 11:04

The media were/still are absolutely hooked on them but not because they are charismatic but because they are a ticking timebomb. At the start of their relationship, there was a bunch of detailed stories which came out in broadsheets one of my home countries. These stories were completely suppressed by the UK media but it's a definite that they would be fully aware of the contents. If the stories had come out in Britain, that wedding would never have happened. The fact that the royal family put in a lot of work to suppress them proves to me that they did want Harry and Meghan to marry despite everything they knew and they were supportive enough of their relationship.

Hopefully, the stories won't ever reach the tabloids but in a way, the past doesn't matter now because they are married with kids and potentially solid.

You obviously read trashy media in your home country.
If there was a way for the British gutter press to knock Meghan any more, they would have done it

That is where you are wrong. It was in the main national broadsheets. You are assuming the worst because you think it is people like Dan Wootton making the decisions when they are not the one's in charge of what gets through.

Roussette · 13/04/2023 11:14

Yes.

Dan Wotton. Angela Levin. Piers Morgan

If there was stories in broadsheets it would've seeped over here by now. I follow media from lots of different countries and not seen anything similar to what you are referring

Your post is just casting yet more slurs on them without being able to quantify it

Not necessarily. It would have seeped through if the royal family did not have a robust and quick acting legal team and they bloody well do. It was not the English speaking media and not one from which a lot of stories get translated into English. They even have their own set of major celebrities whom nobody on Mumsnet would have ever heard about (unless they were also from there). There are two particular sports (one proper, one more relaxation) which are big in the country which is why they had the content.

I am not going to discuss the content but the late queen was correct in saying that Harry obsessively wanted this marriage to happen against all odds and would have overlooked everything for it. I hope some of those buried facts do not bother their relationship behind closed doors.

Whaeanui · 13/04/2023 11:23

Which country? Sounds like bollocks to me.

It’s funny you think they lack charisma, that photo of them under the umbrella went viral.

Thats the point of it… ‘ I know something sooo terrible about her, can’t say what it is, but they protected her because it was damaging… blah blah blah

Roussette · 13/04/2023 11:26

There is no point in me answering you because it is just rumour and innuendo.

Sudeko · 13/04/2023 11:26

Won't share anything else about it.
You are superfans so it isn't possible to have an open minded discussion anyway.
Believe what you like based on what you know.

Exactly!

How posters are meant to respond with something like this when they have no idea what is being talked about is impossible.
