I bet you... a lot of the public could name Charles's GC. They wouldn't have a clue who Camilla's were. I had no idea until a day or so ago. I am sure you cannot be saying they are as well known as George, Charlottle, and Louis? Surely not.

I am saying no one would know any of the pages anyway and why would it matter the majority wouldn’t know who they are. Like I said loads of people don’t know who Beatrice is apparently.

I'm not someone who follows the minutiae of 'royal ' nonsense but to my untrained eye there appears to be more of Camilla's family taking part in the magic hat ceremony than charles'.

I suppose some royalist will say it's totally traditional and the divorced king's divorced ex side piece always has her family hold the canopy don't you know !

Ai contraire, it is a standard look amongst the upper classes in the 1959s. Nanny taught him how to do it. Just look at Prince Philip. Hand in pocket all the time.

Still liking the typo that made Charles grandfather to one of Rose Whatshername's children. That's the sort of story that would make me more interested in the whole shooting match!

Little known fact he is still alive at 83 and was painted by Lucian Freud.

Lucian has a way of turning everybody into bacon or was that Francis ? Certainly much better portrait than most of the Royals. LF did the Queen.

Freud delivered his portrait to the Queen in person. According to the second and final volume of William Feaver’s biography of the painter, published last year, the Queen did not say what she thought of it but seemed very pleased. She said to Freud: “Very nice of you to do this. I’ve very much enjoyed watching you mix your colours.”

I know Freud had a certain style but I would say that portrait of APB is pretty true to life! Apparently he was quite the ladies man but not sure I can see it...

How old are the other pages? Perhaps James Wessex is too old. I think he's about 16?

Looking at today's photos, James Wessex looks as if he's had a growth spurt since we saw him at the Queen's lying in state. He might look out of place among the younger pages - and if they're carrying a train (I don't know if they are), it would be quite awkward for them to be very different heights.

And perhaps he just doesn't want to.

You have a point there, Celia. The pages do need to be the same height and they might be wearing pre-existing uniforms so will need to be a certain build as well. IIRC pages are usually between 8 & 11 years old?

James looks to be the same height as his father now - about 6 foot - I never saw a 6 foot page boy

Eliza Lopes, Camilla’s granddaughter, was one of William and Kate’s bridesmaids, actually. She’s the one sitting directly in front of William here. Appeared on the balcony with them, and was carried by Prince Charles, so he is presumably well known to them.

And yes, Edward and Sophie’s son is, as seen today, taller than his parents. I imagine he wasn’t keen on being dressed up as a page boy, even if the outfit fitted.
