Loving the invitation! So colourful and very appropriate for springtime. Great photo too - hope they are getting excited for the big day 😃

I also love they have a robin perched on the C looking down. A robin being near symbolises a loved one who has passed being near.

someone gave that a lot of thought, the invite is not just a load of drawings, they have put meaning in it.

The design looks like a particularly kitsch throwback to the eighties’ ‘fancy paper’ craze among little girls. It should come with a scented pastel rubber and a My Little Pony.

CeliaNorth · 04/04/2023 23:36

Is that actually the invitation?! It looks very cartoon-like, not at all regal. I'm a big fan of good illustration but that's...not it.

It's based on heraldic styles and medieval illuminated manuscripts. The artist's name is Andrew Jamieson. His website is here, with a bit about the invitation: About | Andrew Stewart Jamieson Coats of Arms

I think it's charming and I'd like one please.

BillLius · 04/04/2023 23:40

Thanks for the invite. I’ll print it off, write my name on it and prop it on the mantelpiece 👍

TrashyPanda · 04/04/2023 23:44

That site is fascinating, @CeliaNorth

his work is amazing. I wish there was a book so I could pore over all the details.

He's the Head of The Church of England.
Wtf is The Green Man doing on the invitations?
Boggled, and I have Green Man symbols in my home and garden.

There are Green Man wood and stone carvings in churches.

SimplyAverage · 05/04/2023 00:01

He has hidden his tampon fingers.

I am not calling them King and Queen, they are a pair of selfish trouble makers, they are why Harry is the way he is and we all pay the price as taxpayers extra security after he upset the Taliban and Harrys court cases etc

Why didn't Camilla and Charles take Camillas advice to Diana and find their beautiful children enough in life?

Churches are the only place I've seen them.

(Just be glad they didn't have a sheela na gig to keep him company.Grin)

They are a symbol ofspring and rebirth and of pagan traditions but adopted by Christianity so linking the two.

The green man symbolises rebirth, originally he also cleared crowds for a procession to occur, but I suspect it’s the rebirth, fresh start thing.

CarolinaInTheMorning · 05/04/2023 02:59

I think the invitation is charming and very thoughtfully done.

Fascinating. Laughing at all the negative comments about the invitation, some people are so ignorant 🙄

googlejourney · 05/04/2023 06:52

Lovely invitation and photo released yesterday, I'm happy for them and cannot wait for the coronation! It really is a momentous day in our history.

I think both King Charles & Queen Camilla are doing a fantastic job so far, they are both very likeable, really shining a spotlight on their causes rather than themselves.

So1invictus · 05/04/2023 07:00

Thanks for the link, really interesting. It's lovely.

@TrashyPanda

I have archived the article for you so you can read it

Here it is, (don't worry that the link looks funny, it's just a way of reading an article that is behind a paywall)

Beautiful invites and a lovely pic, looking forward to the day.

determinedtomakethiswork · 05/04/2023 07:20

Is anyone else getting the Hallmark greeting card advert on this thread?

megletthesecond · 05/04/2023 07:35

little the Robin has set me off 😭.

NooNakedJacuzziness · 05/04/2023 07:53

I like it, very Charles-like with all the flowers and plants. What's the little blue creature bottom left though? Looks like a fat little donkey!

myrtleWilson · 05/04/2023 08:11

@NooNakedJacuzziness It is a boar apparently - referencing Camilla's Dad's coat of arms

Makesense12 · 05/04/2023 08:11

Love the invitation, really love it.

Glad after so long he gets shot at the top job. Over all I like Charles.

Camilla seems fun and more down to earth.

However there is a long shadow cast here and he must try and convince his son to attend. Camilla should also be doing all in her power to get them to come.
