Loving the invitation! So colourful and very appropriate for springtime. Great photo too - hope they are getting excited for the big day 😃

Well I’ve learned something new today - I’ve never heard of the green man before!

Used to be one near me. The ale was good.

So pleased the Green Man is on there

It's beautiful, it makes me think of the Mayday "Jack in Green"

sashagabadon · 06/04/2023 06:59

Very nice! Bright , cheerful and optimistic.

DerangedViper · 06/04/2023 09:59

So you think Charles is godfather to Rose' children. I don't even see the generational link either

I don't think anything - I was asking!

Looks like a "no", but there must be some reason.

The generational thing was only icw James, who is same generation as William, Harry, Beatrice, Eugenie, Peter, Zara and Louise who I would expect to be there as adult guests not in a child's role as pages (except William who might have a different role as heir)

Worldgonecrazy · 07/04/2023 08:35

It’s interesting that King Charles’s Pagan beliefs are very central to the theme. Love the inclusion of the King of the Birds as an in joke too.

Im not sure of Williams personal beliefs but I recall thinking there was a lot of Pagan imagery during his wedding ceremony.

It’s a shame that the Royal family are forced into pretending to be Christian. I’m sure many will be atheist or have similar beliefs to the King.

purpledalmation · 07/04/2023 09:44

Watercolours apparently 😊

Sudeko · 07/04/2023 09:49

Lovely invitation. Isn't Charles grandfather to one of Rose's children?

TrashyPanda · 07/04/2023 09:51

Or sure why people think there has to be a “blood” connection.

none of the late QEIIs Maids of Honour at her coronation were relatives

MrsFinkelstein · 07/04/2023 09:59

I'm pretty sure this has already been explained in other RF threads, but the Cholmondeley son is a page because (as Royal tradition dictates) descendents often take on roles held by previous family members.

QE2 didn't have relatives as her pages for her coronation, they were children of other Courtiers.

The David Cholmondeley was a Page of Honour to QE2 when he was a boy for 2 years in the 70s.

Tellmethespoiler · 07/04/2023 10:01

The photo is fine, but the invitation is a bit “seven-year-old-girl party invite”.

Now THERE'S a scandal we were all unaware of! 🤣

The son of the Duke of Devonshire has a 13yr old boy. Why isn't he there.

And what has Camilla gdc got to do with it if that is the criteria ?

Roussette · 07/04/2023 12:35

And why isn't Ed & Sophie's son involved, I don't think he is.

AnnunciataZ · 07/04/2023 13:26

How old are the other pages? Perhaps James Wessex is too old. I think he's about 16?

Cokefans · 07/04/2023 13:52

I can’t imagine many 16 year old lads wanting to be a page boy

I was also questioning this.

There is no age limit to page boy. He is 15, so would be around the same height as 13 yrs olds. It's a prestigious position and he carried himself well at the forefront of the funeral.

Someone set me straight though on this thread and said it was about your predecessors having played the role in the past.

Guess what, Andrew Parker Bowles was a pageboy to HMQE coronation and his father had the same role as Rose's husband.

Yep, you couldn't make this sh*t up ! 😂

Roussette · 07/04/2023 14:49

I do find it all a bit odd. I am bemused by Camilla's children and GC taking such a large part, when the likes of Edward's boy taking no part.

We've never seen Camilla's GC for instance, just seems a bit odd to me. I can quite understand them being there but to be so proactive in all of the shenanigans is strange. Just my opinion.

Novella4 · 07/04/2023 14:52

She's the king - didn't you know

Sudeko · 07/04/2023 14:53

Camilla has finally got a taste for frontline royal life and I think she likes it! Charles seems happy to indulge her every whim. Harry gets called out for behaving like this but I think he has learned from Charles

Oh it gets better. He was wandering around like the father of the Bride at C and Cs wedding. He then spent the evening watching the grand national with the Queeen. He used to stand there and watch C and C snog and say: His royal highness really likes my wife.

Well.... the whole time it will be "who the hell is that" Grin given Camilla's family have never been involved in any of this.

She is going to be Queen. I think it’s appropriate her grandchildren carry her train.

His is carrying his.

James has always seemed like someone who doesn’t want to be involved. He didn’t appear with the family outside Balmoral. I am sure there this is something he is happy not to do. He would be a bit old.

I am all about the girls. She has two granddaughters and Charlotte. They should be in involved.

That isn’t quite true. They have. Eliza was a flower
girl for William. Tom and Laura have been around a lot. They were a
l at garter service last summer and the Queens funeral. Tom and Laura were at Harry’s wedding.

I know about Tom Parker Bowles and Laura.

I was talking about their children. I am pretty sure the general public would not have a clue what they look like.
