I’m seeing a lot of sanctimonious finger wagging and vilification of alleged victims from MN posters determined to defend tabloid criminality at all costs.

Absolutely shocking displays.

The kind of rubbish I’d expect to read in trash tabloids…

Remember that time Hugh Grant came home and found his door hinges screwed off. Inside was a 'PI' working for the tabloids going through his things and planting spy materials (cameras/listening devices etc.).

HG, being him, sat the guy down for a chat and he confessed it all.
Me, I would be bricking it while running to call the police. 😅

The photographer placed himself right on Harry's path.

Harry is audible, saying "oops, sorry", even though it was not his fault.

https://twitter.com/ArchewellBaby/status/1640281891797434368

Surely, Harry has to put himself front and centre of this, as the press publicise everything about him. These kind of cases happen a lot. Get quietly settled behind the scenes and the show goes on. This way, people will not only know that this happens often, but even if H and team lose, future claimants will now look into the details of how this case does not go to court. So it's important that H and other celebrities are involved at this early stage.

Indeed @notanotheroneagain

Have you read the threads on here when posters tell about their partners visiting prostitutes? Unanimous LTB. Poor Fyn Grant had to watch her son's shenanigans splashed all over the media.

He doesn’t look very engaged 😂

The mad Harry haters can't even accept that fighting a newspaper that ILLEGALLY hacks peoples phones might be worth fighting against. Just because it's Harry.

The Harry critics (fixed that for you, no one is a 'mad' or a 'hater') can indeed accept that taking a paper to court for alleged illegal activity is indeed worth doing we can also point out he's a raving hypocrite in the process. 2 separate things but relevant because it's Harold.

derxa · 28/03/2023 13:56

PlanetLuna · 28/03/2023 13:47

He’s doing the right thing.

But your dislike for him is growing.

Makes sense. 🤔🙄

He's not a very nice person as evidenced by his book and interviews.

I'm not sanctimonious . If he wants to use prostitutes that is his business but when he was widely ridiculed in the media for getting caught with his trousers down one can see why he has issues with the nasty old media.

Gosh! Never knew you thought that about Harry being a hypocrite! You';ve only mentioned it 48 times on this thread lol

It was nearly 30 years ago!

Honestly Janiie he humbled himself afterwards. He spoke about it. There is sometimes a case for moving on, and not throwing up something from three decades ago as a reason for Hugh Grant not being keen on the media. (Especially as he has been hacked, stalked and had his house broken into)

I doubt he has these feelings about the media because of something nearly 30 years ago.

Oh come on Rousette that's the kettle calling the pot black. We may disagree on most but our ability to repeat our points like dogs with bones is one thing we share. Did I mention Harry is a hypocrite 🤭

No, I hadn’t heard that story!!! Yeah, I would’ve run screaming too, 😱😂 Hugh is so quirky.

I’m not surprised though. Although they know it’s technically illegal, it’s so lucrative and tempting. Some probably convince themselves it’s a victimless crime. Tabloids can always find someone willing to get their hands dirty.

Even in these MN comments, people are minimising the impact of this criminality based on perceptions of the victims goodness and judgements about the righteousness of the victims’ past behaviours. Opinions which, interestingly, have been largely shaped by tabloid media’s depictions.

Bluespecsandshoes · 28/03/2023 14:15

I am just frankly gobsmacked by anyone on here who is taking a stand in favour of the Mail group. That you want to
support an organisation that has such a vile, misogynistic agenda, and purports to “stand up for the uk” while constantly driving a political narrative (if you can call it that) that only serves to undermine the UK and sets its people against one another, all for a filthy buck!

Aren’t any of you concerned about this?

To me it’s a no-brainer! We should all be getting behind Harry, Lady Lawrence, Elton John and others who are brave enough to draw a line in the sand and say “enough is enough”

I think just about everyone on here has said it is worth fighting against and I hope the DM lose. But I do actually wish Harry wasn't part of it because he is a self-admitted unreliable witness and is becoming known for being extremely litigious which (IMO) is not helpful to the case.

On the upside, if the DM are found guilty, perhaps Harry will accept that it wasn't his own family feeding stories to the press.

I don’t know how many times this has to be pointed out, but Harry could dress up nightly in a wolf costume and howl at the moon, but if a judge decides that illegal acts have been committed against him, then those acts have been deemed and proven to be illegal whether you personally, or anyone else on here, think he as a victim is “deserving” or not.

Ah the noble Hugh Grant. Caught getting a BJ from a prostitute. He would have beef with the media wouldn't he.

Why would he - it wasn’t the media that broke the BJ story. Which you would know if you actually listened to him.

Okay, sure Jan. 😏

Regardless, your theory is wrong. Hugh G does not gaf about how he’s betrayed re the whole prostitute thing.

At 2:20 or so in this clip, he brings it up on American daytime talk show The View. Watch it and you may change your mind. I won’t hold my breath though.

It's not about whether or not he is a deserving victim or not., it's about whether or not he is a credible witness. Maybe all the evidence will be factual and evidence based and the victims will not be called as witnesses. Harry would be ripped to pieces in the witness box by a good barrister.

Roussette · 28/03/2023 14:44

Love that whole clip @PlanetLuna

And he actually says, when questioned about why he is vocal about the media and what they do...
His words "People say, oh he's just bitter because he got arrested with a hooked in 1995!!" and then goes on to explain why that isn't the case.

So funny, that Janiie brought that up in *exactly" the same way!

I like Hugh, always have done, saw him once near where I live. I have a lot of time for him.

I'm sure he will be fine. The trial (if it goes ahead) is set for May.

Jan?

God what an insufferable twerp. 'No no nothing to do with the pesky prostitute business oh noo!'. And all the presenters giggle sycophantically 🙄. The police may have released the info but of course the media then ridiculed him mercilessly which clearly would have stung not that he'd ever admit it.

He's suffering from the same delusions as Harold that this is just a British problem by British media. I have no doubt the same practises go on globally. I of course agree that anyone engaged in alleged illegal activity need to be held account, but we are allowed to comment on all surrounding info too you know.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 28/03/2023 14:51

TBF I don't particularly like any man who uses prostitutes. Being famous or getting caught for it is irrelevant to me. But I think HG should be protected by the law against hacking the same as everyone else.

skullbabe · 28/03/2023 14:56

It’s really fascinating how we have people actually trying to minimise and rationalise the way that these media companies targeted these people. (It wasn’t that bad, it was long ago, the people the media targeted were bad people anyway, other media outlets in other countries also do it, it’s been heard all before - just some of the ones so far on the thread).
