Sussex's snubbed on both sides of the Atlantic

Harry and Meghan will be invited to the coronation - by necessity - but this toxic pair will be kept at a careful arm's length by all and sundry, excluded from the balcony or carriage procession, and probably positioned somewhere suitably inconspicuous. Most of the family will be wary of them, most will wherever possible avoid them and the crowds will likely boo them. There will be no lucrative photo ops with William or Kate. The Wales children will be in the limelight, but Harry and Meghan's children will be excluded, due to age.

Meanwhile, over in the States, where they no doubt expected to be feted when they planned their dramatic departure from the UK, opinion polls reveal them to be less popular now than even Prince Andrew. South Park mocked them to general acclaim and The Cut published a contemptuous piece about the possible relaunch of the Tig last week.

They've been snubbed and excluded from every big social event, from the Met Gala to Obama's birthday party and Elton John's Oscar's bash. The only parties they have attended have been those hosted by social pariahs like Ellen de Generes.

They are coming across as increasingly desperate and embarrassing. It's hard to to see any possible comeback from here.

As a prolific poster spent a couple of pages telling people including myself to contact a help line, she might benefit from her own advice.

Regardless of ops opinions, she was subjected to some extremely nasty posts on the first few pages.

OP started the nastiness.

OP shared their opinions in amusement and expected everyone to join in the hate-fest.

Amusement at the thought of two people she has never met being social pariahs. Amusement at H&M being mocked. Amusement at H&M being excluded.

That is utterly nasty.

tatalan · 21/03/2023 08:54

OP even dragged H&Ms children into her mockery and hatefulness. What a shame.

Roussette

I would say.. those that monitor others by poring over a threads statistics so that they can say that frequent posters are 'obsessed'

I totally see that might seem obsessed. When I've nothing to distract me, I might have tried to do the same (although not as successfully).

But I was asking who you meant by "we" in the post:

Lordy!

That's dedication for you! And we're the ones obsessed?!!

in reply to skullbabe

I've answered who the 'we' is!

Those that have been accused of being paid, Russian, or a troll on here because they've posted a lot.

Yes, she was. I've never seen such vehement defence of anyone as for Prince Harry. I don't always read the posters names and tend to skim read a bit so I thought there was a lot of support for him, but I can now see it's just a few posters that really, really care when people don't like him/them.

Roussette · 21/03/2023 07:10

Lordy!

Absolutely! It's impressive that the poster was able to take the time to analyse such a long thread of about 550 posts - my little analysis was qute challenging with the time used (20 minutes in a carpark whilst waiting for a fire alarm to stop). So the dedication, time and effort taken to analyse the full thread with poster metrics is exceptional work. It's concerning to hear that some posters are resorting to name-calling and attempts to discredit dissenting voices. These tactics are not constructive and only serve to shut down dialogue. It's also worrying to hear that some are flipping the narrative and calling dissenting voices obsessive - the OP wrote a fairly negative opinion piece and people have commented.

We can all benefit from hearing different perspectives and challenging our own beliefs. I have learned a few things from these threads that I didn't know and I hope others have too but this absolute refusal by some to accept that many of us "pro" people exist is alarming.

That's me. You're welcome to address me by name you know. I won't bite!

I don't need help, I don't loathe and despise two people I don't know who have no effect on my life but who I feel driven to start unpleasant threads about.

Why are you just saying Harry? It's Meghan too surely.

It's not vehement defence, it's kicking back against vile posts calling them every name under the sun.

You call that 'really, really caring'. I call it disliking bullying of two human beings.

Howsimplywonderful · 21/03/2023 09:01

i’m sure that Harry and Meghan are sleeping so much easier in their beds knowing you are spending all day and night posting here on their behalf

Kerrysgotabicycle · 21/03/2023 09:11

I think it's pretty obvious to most that Harry and Meghan have annoyed a lot of people, I don't think there's much of a public appetite to see them at the coronation, and yes - they are very likely to be snubbed. Not sure where the controversy lies?

This thread is bonkers.

Why did you leave out the final three words from the quote? Very misleading.

Ok, well, whatever gets you through your weekends. I have some in doubt your ability to change strangers' negative thoughts about them into positive thoughts, but if that's what motivates you, then crack on I guess.

Shame on the poster for doing that

I disagree with your assessement. I went back on the thread to do a quick count yesterday and those initial comments were from people who do not frequent the Royal threads but are on MN. They were not in defence of Prince Harry - they were asking if the OP was ok (of course many in a disrespectful manner) because her post was so negative and appeared to show worrying levels of obsession and joy in the perceived misfortune of people who do not impact her day to day life in any way.

Regular "pro" posters turned up on Page 2 and yes, these posters do post plenty but then so do many "anti" posters who are also on this thread. In as many numbers as the "pro" posters.

Did you? Or were you fretting about those sticking up for H&M....

Absolutely not misleading. Why include the Wales children at all? what was the comparison for other than to highlight Archie and Lili's exclusion? Why bring it up in the context of H&M being snubbed?

I hope OP takes a long hard look at herself. Her post was extremely nasty.

A greater shame on OP for finding amusement in the exclusion of children.

Oh don't be daft! And stop hurling insults around!

Personally, I wonder why on earth the point had to be made in the first place, age or not. And there is only a year between Louis and Archie anyway, so not sure what that's about

I hope they don't come because everything will be picked apart whatever they do.
