Sussex's snubbed on both sides of the Atlantic

Harry and Meghan will be invited to the coronation - by necessity - but this toxic pair will be kept at a careful arm's length by all and sundry, excluded from the balcony or carriage procession, and probably positioned somewhere suitably inconspicuous. Most of the family will be wary of them, most will wherever possible avoid them and the crowds will likely boo them. There will be no lucrative photo ops with William or Kate. The Wales children will be in the limelight, but Harry and Meghan's children will be excluded, due to age.

Meanwhile, over in the States, where they no doubt expected to be feted when they planned their dramatic departure from the UK, opinion polls reveal them to be less popular now than even Prince Andrew. South Park mocked them to general acclaim and The Cut published a contemptuous piece about the possible relaunch of the Tig last week.

They've been snubbed and excluded from every big social event, from the Met Gala to Obama's birthday party and Elton John's Oscar's bash. The only parties they have attended have been those hosted by social pariahs like Ellen de Generes.

They are coming across as increasingly desperate and embarrassing. It's hard to to see any possible comeback from here.

So that means his birthday doesn't matter? why should Harry's father come before his first born?

If Harry and Meghan posted the question on MN they'd be told not to be so bloomin' precious and to celebrate their 4 year old's birthday the day before or the day after. Or, conversely it gives them an out - soz, can't come to DFather's once in a lifetime coronation because it's DSon's annual birthday party.

To be fair, the out is for Meghan, courtiers keep briefing that they expect her to use Archie as an excuse to stay home.

I've noticed that support on MN for H&M has massively increased lately. At one time "like them" and "dislike them" seemed more or less even. Perhaps a little more on the "dislike" side.
And there's increased personal insults - "hun", "feel better now, do you", "haters"
and suggestions of ignorance/Illiteracy in support posts.

What has changed? Are they becoming more loveable? How?

I think there is MORE HATE, this thread is the perfect example, mocking them for being reportedly snubbed 😑

Blip · 19/03/2023 19:31

Calling people "haters" who say anything perceived as other than fawning is inaccurate and inflammatory language.

Same individuals usually go on to say mean things about other posters.

Who really are the "haters" here?

😁

Everyone should be at the Coronation except for Lilibet and they should all be on the balcony. It's time for both sides to grow up.

I agree 100%. But, I don't think Archie should be there. It's his birthday! I'm sure his parents will want to do a party for him later that day. If he attends the coronation it will tire the little guy out. He should rest and get ready to celebrate his day.

It was terrible for Charles to allow whomever to schedule his coronation on Archie's day.

These comments are hilarious.

Why? it's not fair to see Archie's birthday so discounted.

Catonthehearth · 19/03/2023 20:46

I can't roll my eyes far enough. I'm sure Archie will get to celebrate his birthday either on the day or shortly before or after. To suggest that an event of national significance (ok,ok I'm sure you don't think it's significant, but it really is) should take into account a birthday party for anyone, never mind a 4 year old who wouldn't have any clue what day his birthday was actually on, is ridiculous.

VixenTodd · 19/03/2023 20:53

This will need at least ten years of family therapy and maybe another Oprah stint 😄

Catonthehearth · 19/03/2023 20:56

Or perhaps the narrative in the Sussex family could be along the lines of, hey Archie, how special was your 4th birthday, all the people and the bands, and the soldiers marching, and Daddy and Mummy with crowns, CROWNS, Archie, and you all dressed up and waving, and then we had cake. Best Birthday Ever.

milti · 19/03/2023 20:59

Nobody could care less about Archie’s birthday - apart from his parents and Doria

Careful, they'll call Archie narcissistic 😑

Only if the coronation's postponed to accommodate him blowing his candles out!

Price21210 · 19/03/2023 21:07

The coronation should have been scheduled for another weekend.

I don't what excuses are made!

Unfortunately, they would only have taken the DOBs of the main attendees into account which would be the core line of succession.

tatalan · 19/03/2023 21:12

Anyway, I hope H&M put Archie first 😀

Harry and Meghan should stay in Monecito and have a lovely party for Archie for his birthday

Everyone would be happy

😂The diaries of many of the key attendees - the Prime Minister (and equivalent for the devolved administrations), the Archbishop of Canterbury etc etc - are full for months and years ahead. Maybe the HoS of various close allies, or monarchs with a close family connection.

It has to be at a time of year with a good chance the weather will be fine, but not in the summer holidays, and not clashing with international conferences/big national sporting events and any other distraction or draw on police time.

It's a matter of choosing the least inconvenient date for a huge number of clashing practical demands.

A 4-year-old's birthday (whose parents might not even choose to attend) doesn't come into it.
