Reported in the press , I'm starting to see why Harry might be a little annoyed. He's still a spoilt brat and no excuse for everything he's done but still I'm starting to understand a bit of the bitterness. Charles has inherited all his mother's estate 650 million tax free monarch to monarch. None of the Queen's other children have received a cut. The queen's other children will have to see if Charles decides to give them anything. Perhaps Phillip left them something and it didn't all go to the Queen?.

I'm starting to see where the spares anger and the supposed genetic pain comes from. You are entirely beholden to the monarch and the heir. They have to follow the rules and protocol but don't get the massive wealth the heir does and you spend your life being lesser because of your order of birth. One day William will get the lot of the massive fortune and in charge of the purse strings. It's really an unfair system the heir and spares thing. I thought things like inheritance would be fairer. It's an archaic system for 2023.

He's still a massive twat but I understand a little why he has a massive chip on his shoulder.

And paying less proportion of tax generally than their considerably less wealthy "subjects" @Nousernamesleftatall !

@Gilmorehill I agree. Not all beneficiaries will be members of the RF or wealthy and unwelcome media intrusion could impact their life’s after giving dedicated service.

God forbid we have transparency for what are public officials in this quasi constitutional state of affairs. Peasants know your place. We are constitutional peasants as Monty Python brilliantly satirized.

The Royal Collection includes a number of faberge eggs these were personal gifts from the Russian RF to the British RF siblings/cousins etc

there are many Faberge objects in the collection which were gifts from the Danish and Russian Royal families.

however, The three eggs in the collection were purchased by King George V and Queen Mary after the Russian Revolution

It's in the press Andrew might also do a tell all interview for money

As ever with the media I'll believe it when it happens, but I don't imagine the report will have done much for Charles's state of mind. As I've said for years Andrew's been around a long time and will have seen a lot, so there could easily be a risk in pissing him off too much

On the inheritance thing (and how do we know when I thought royal wills were secret?) they can't very well split up what's vested in the crown; there's also the avoidance of IHT with leaving the lot to the heir, but that still leaves the private fortune which may or may not have been shared around

Mothership4two · 12/03/2023 11:11

As the Queen Mother left an estate valued at between £50m and £70m*, I think Catherine will be OK

*passed down to the Queen avoiding IHT

Getting more and more like the Godfather with each passing day, Andrew threatening to go rogue to get some more divi from his elder brother. The most likely next 'go rogue' candidate is likely to be Camilla if rumours are to be believed. She would want a big payoff to go quietly, and I don't think quietly dropping the consort and getting anointed with holy oil, and a lifetime supply of Tanqueray will cut it somehow.

Fifi0000 · 12/03/2023 11:17

I really think the spare thing needs reforming they need to be pushed towards forming an independent career. I hope Charlotte and Louis will be ok there's no reason really to keep the spare thing going on. I'm wondering if an heir was born and they had significant learning disabilities/autism what would happen. Would they still become the monarch or would they cover it up.

Infant mortality is very low nowadays they have access to the best doctors. There doesn't need to be a spare.

You keep mentioning these rumours. Can you spill the beans pretty please. I don’t do Twitter or Instagram so have no idea!

Love it Vera Grin grin]

vera99 · 12/03/2023 11:25

I can imagine an Andrew line of argument "at the royal trough" going somewhere alone the lines "but, Mummy promised me.... " as Charles stares wistfully into the distance with furrowed brow and a clenched fatty fingers fist before leaving the room with a slammed door behind him. "All the damned bloody time".

Mothership4two · 12/03/2023 11:30

Assume they also want a family?

Mortality is 100% and who knows what lies around the corner (the Queen wasn't born heir to the throne).

Absolutely agree everyone not in line should be encouraged to have a career. If we continue with a monarchy

She keeps going to a health spa in India, quietly for the most part but on return from one trip the plane was hit by a bird so was widely reported in the press. This spa majors in addiction/alcohol amongst others. Private Eye alleges that Charles sends her there to dry out. And then there is the separate houses issue and the late night company she keeps - Clarkson/ Morgan et al. which are boozy affairs by all accounts. There are others, but you will need to do your own homework !

If I was Charles I'd ask the Trustees to give Andrew a life interest in the Castle of Mey so long as he agreed to stay there and never leave it....

You're quoting the Daily Express as an authoritative source? 😂😂

They shouldn't have extra children just to ensure the LOS carries on. The idea of primogeniture is archaic. The spares are brought up from birth knowing they are less important than the eldest sibling. It's like if I chose to give all my wealth to my eldest DC and the younger would have to go cap in hand. I would feel intensely uncomfortable if my eldest sibling was deemed as more important than me just because they were born first.

@vera99 has also provided us with a Daily Mail link so a double whammy in the authoritative sources department😂

Camilla sounds quite a good sort to me. I imagine an evening with Camilla and Anne could be good fun😁.

KrasiTime · 12/03/2023 11:46

I’d quite like a spa trip in India tbh.

I'm a bit lazy at the moment, and they seem to have gone full fawning Royalist, Harry is Satan mode, so it’s interesting they chose to reveal that and put gin and tonic in the headline. The MSM likes to a lot of hints in their stories as to the story they are too scared to print. The RF has a big history of drinking the Queen Mother put back a load by all accounts. Margaret was a soak and took drugs to boot. The Queen, though never drunk did 40 units a week into her nineties until doctors told her to cut down. It must be very easy in these rarefied circles where every day is effectively a holiday, and you have the finest of drinks available at a snap of your fingers to develop a habit.

Can the royal family just f&£k off completely, the biggest scroungers all on the dole. They’re all so thick too despite having access to the best education possible.

Fifi0000 · 12/03/2023 11:55

Yep I'm starting to want a republic , it's actually awful that someone with no talent thinks they have the right to lord it over others because they came from a aristocratic womb.

Bloody hell. Camilla has been seven times to this Retreat. It is £735 a night and a full security detail travels with her.

Honestly, it beggars belief. No cutting back for the RF then
