Will Sussex be their last names? How does that work?

I also think it was a shame that the Cambridge children have names that only reflected the royal family ( particularly the boys) I would have thought Kate might have snuck a Michael in there somewhere.

And you know this how ?
Did they tell you?

It was fucking obvious!!!

Price21210 · 14/03/2023 01:18

@letthemalldoone Why are you so concerned about the names Harry and Meghan have chosen for their children? They are not your children and it's not anyone's business. You have no right to comment negatively about it. And they are innocent children!

You may not like or be happy with their parents for whatever reason but that's your problem not the children's.

I think at the time of naming Lilibet, H&M had made the Queen ( Never complain, never explain ) sad with their public pronouncements about the Royal family and Royal life.
Both she and her husband PP had little time left in this world. Why make it more stressful.
Imho I thought it odd they then used the Queen's nickname for their daughter. In her honour supposedly.

If it were me I would not be too happy and would think "They have a nerve."

I agree. I find using a beloved nickname quite crass, but who knows maybe the late Queen was happy about it. I feel using a name different than using a nickname, and I'm not sure why, maybe as it feels more personal

I don't care what anyone says or thinks, they treated the Queen and Prince Philip so badly in the last years of their lives!!

Lilibet and Archie are two absolutely DREADFUL names. I honestly thought Meghan had more taste, Harry obvs has none, but they are terrible names. Imagine a 27 year old Lilibet? Archie not just as twee but it’s a name for a baby not a man. Awful. Not even a full name to reclaim as an adult. Couldn’t gaf about their titles, the whole institution is a nonsense, but really the names, dreadful.

Loads of things aren't "anyone's business", but it doesn't stop people having the "right" to express an opinion about them.
And if it's wrong to express an opinion about a name, then it's wrong.
The emotive "innocent children" or "innocent little children" is unnecessary.
Would it be better to wait until they're less innocent teens or a bit bigger? Obviously not - thought I'd better say that; people sometimes take things literally here.
Tbf, I think nearly all posters have been very careful not to criticise any of the children in the family, and quite right too.
(I say "nearly" - I could easily have missed something, but hopefully anything like that would have been modded)

They have ripped apart Harry and Meghan choice in names ,but no other royal.children's ,names ,why is that🤔

I don't know - how should I? You'd better ask the posters you think are doing that.
And yes - adults' choice of names is the thing being criticised; that doesn't imply criticism of children, which wouldn't be in the spirit, whether they're "very small" or not.

Hooklander · 14/03/2023 07:53

The name 'Louis' came in for some fractious discussion on MN. If you do a search, you'll see everything from 'I like it' to 'it's a bit French' to 'yawn' and 'king of the swingers'; and the absolutely extraordinary: 'I have no thoughts either way on the name Louis but in the Royal Family, its the name of a paedophile so Im a bit sick about that'.

Louis was days old.

Here’s a thought if Prince George marries Princess Lillibet Diana of Sussex (like the Royals usually do), she will become the first black queen and Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex will become the Queen Mother !

I don’t think so as Meghan wouldn’t have been a Queen so wouldn’t be QM. I think that title can only be held by mother of the monarch & former queen consort.

Coxspurplepippin I'd like to see reform of the Lords where those sitting have to have an established area of expertise, not that they did some political favours. There's some very knowledgeable people in the Lords who do a good job of scrutinising the government of the day. I used to be in favour of abolishing the Lords, but now see they're an essential part of scrutinising governments who like to try to break international law and remove human rights.

This is where the problem is, the recruitment/appointment of the Lords. They do not need titles.

  1. Hereditary Lords. Have no speciality and just inherit the title.
  2. The Cronies and Donors. Take a huge chunk of the seats and are just being done a favour and increasing their business profile
  3. The Bishops. Why are they running the law of the country. Majority are CoE, with a few about 2 jewish and 3 from other christian dominions (last I checked). There are no Muslim or other religions out of the +/-19 of them.
  4. The specialists/ Heads of industry. They are the only ones acceptable in my opinion. However, I think they should be rotated as we do.

Even local councils have a scrutiny team, so no need for lords, just a scrutiny committee is what we need, rotated, some nominated by the public possibly.

Meghan would be the Queen’s Mother, but she wouldn’t be the Queen Mother.

That title basically means HM The Dowager Queen, Mother of the Monarch.

Not having been Queen herself she wouldn’t be QM.

notanotheroneagain · 14/03/2023 08:36

I can never understand the people who go on about how H&M should relinquish their titles and their DC.

They did not 'trash' RF as people keep repeating. They had a great relationship with HMQE and PP. Strained with William&Charles, but they are clear that inherently they love them but W&C are getting bad advise.

Now his is where they are 'criticising' the institution. The people that work there. The 'help' is the problem. All these courtiers and advisors, also giving undue influence to the family members and definitely not giving them pastoral care.

There were times throughout the years when that care for the family was provided. Especially around when HMQE was say around 40-70. The last few years, however have been diabolical.

Why should H,A and L, the blood royals be pushed out. No. The Wasp/Bee/ Fly (technically he's gone now) must go. Not them push H and his family out.
