Will Sussex be their last names? How does that work?

I'm merely pointing out the hypocrisy, whatever Harry and Meghan had named their children peop!e on this topic would find fault with it because it's Harry and Meghan, they could have named them John and Mary and people would still have had pop, because it's Harry and Meghan .

Maybe some people would of course, that’s life unfortunately, I’m no Meghan and Harry fan at all but I like the name Harrison, I thought it was quite nice.

What hypocrisy? We will never know how people might have reacted to them giving a child a traditional name because they never managed to do so?

Was 'Archie' Prince George's off-duty nickname? It seems an odd choice. As for Lilibet, it was a frankly offensive choice and people understandably criticised them for it.

Equally, we would never know if people would have criticised them if they had behaved in a dignified way because they never have. IIn short: people have criticised Harry and Meghan because they have done (and keep doing) ridiculous, embarassing, or shameless things.

Why is Lillibet, offensive🤔 other than to some posters of this topic!

I've no doubt some people would find anything to complain about if it involves Harry and Meghan. For some reason there's some people who take an almost fanclub level of obsession with their loyalty to whichever side they're supporting.

But most people aren't like that and are discussing the behaviour of two adults in the public eye and whether their actions match their words and claims.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 13/03/2023 13:09

because it was the Queen’s personal nickname and obviously only associated to her, the head of an institution they openly and have vocally despised for huge amounts of money. That’s why people are offended.

So basically you are offended on behalf of a a deceased monarch who.you have never ,met whose grandson decided to use her personal nickname to.name his daughter you know the Queens great granddaughter ,
Did you ask.the Queen of she was offended ?
Or did you all just take it up in yourselves to be offended ?
utterly ridiculous
as is said so often on here nobody owns a name not even the now deceased Queen.

Price21210 · 13/03/2023 14:09

Let me get this straight now, this poster is offended because the Queen's grandson named his daughter after her, her own great-granddaughter.

I have never read anything so ridiculous.

I wasn’t saying I was offended, a previous poster was, i was explaining why that is, I can see why people are offended, I’m not, I think it’s hypocritical though for sure.

headstone · 13/03/2023 14:36

I think it depends on why they chose to use the name Lillibet. Absolutely fine if it was for reasons of genuine affection and admiration. Or if just a cynical way of highlighting the royal connection then not such a good reason to use a personal nickname.

Harry was the Queen,s Grandson not some distant relative ,so there is a huge royal connection ,he is also the son of the current monarch so wether people like it or not he is about as royal.as they come.

headstone · 13/03/2023 15:25

Well that might be true x2boys and I don’t doubt that Harry had genuine affection for his late grandmother, however the only granparent allowed anytime with Lillibet was Doria. She isn’t important enough to be named though.

That's probably because she isnt Dead unlike Diana i
I don't see charles and Camilla ,going to.California ,family relationships workt both ways

I think at the time of naming Lilibet, H&M had made the Queen ( Never complain, never explain ) sad with their public pronouncements about the Royal family and Royal life.
Both she and her husband PP had little time left in this world. Why make it more stressful.
Imho I thought it odd they then used the Queen's nickname for their daughter. In her honour supposedly.

If it were me I would not be too happy and would think "They have a nerve."

LaMarschallin · 13/03/2023 16:50

Prince Balonz (or Princess Balonza, maybe) would be a lovely tribute to MN (from any of them)

But as you don't know any of them.you have. No.idea how the Queen or anyone else felt and are.just imagining how you think they must have felt .

@x2boys that's why I wrote imho.

Price21210 · 13/03/2023 18:13

@headstone Please leave those children alone! Lilibet is Harry's daughter and the Queen was his grandmother. It's no one's business!!

And I highly doubt his grandchildren had any problem with it. Lilibet is a cute name!

I’m certainly not criticising the children Price21210 it’s their parents decision to give them titles and keep the interest up around them. Whilst we dont know 100 percent what goes on behind closed doors, Harry has been very keen recently to share it. I think it can be safely concluded his family were not particularly keen on Meghan overall so the name choices for Lillibet in particular are somewhat bemusing ( again not Lillibet’s fault).

letthemalldoone · 13/03/2023 19:47

In the light of all their actions around the RF since they left the UK, there's clearly a cynical, money-making aspect to her choice of name. The pair of them didn't even intend to visit the Queen when they were in the UK, only sticking around because she coincidentally and conveniently died while they were here!!

I'm all for a healthy dose of cynicism, but if they wanted to bank the connection and have their daughter's name be royal to the max, then surely Elizabeth would've been a better choice. Now she would be Princess Elizabeth, the same title the late queen held for however long. Perhaps they just preferred Lilibet. Personally I love the name Elizabeth (despite rather than because of its royal connotations), but it's not my daughter.

I like Elizabeth too, but they wanted to use Diana for obvious reasons and if they had named her Elizabeth Diana, they would have been accused of stealing Charlotte's names. Although considering, W&K used one of George's names for Louis, maybe it wouldn't have been as issue.

And then they would have been accused of playing on the late Queens name ,they can't win really

Well it would of just because it's Harry and Meghan whatever they do they can't win ,I'm not saying I love their children's names but they are not outrageous and they are not my kids so it's their choice .

KrasiTime · 13/03/2023 21:27

I love the name Archie. Not keen on Lilibet (?) but it’s their dd not mine. Not overly loving my kids names either tbh but as a Greek named after our parents as is tradition so 🤷🏻‍♀️
