The royal family

Petition for H&M to give up titles

Namechangethisevening · 10/03/2023 07:11

Just wondering if there is a petition asking for M, H and their children to give up their royal titles? I once thought quite highly of H. Those times are long long gone, along with his and his family's respect for and presence in the UK. I want H&M to have nothing further to do with the UK royal family, seeing as they want nothing more to do with us except when it benefits them.

I was just wondering if a petition has started for them to have their titles removed and if anyone could link me??

Thanks

So you want to sign a petition to remove titles that are part of rules made in 1917 by King George V... of two little children, is that correct?

No, there isn't a petition out there.

The OP didn't say remove their titles, they said ask them to give up their titles. But obviously it's pointless asking Harry and Meghan to give up their titles - they're clutching them as tight as they can, despite their sneering at the monarchy.

The OP said ..

"is there a petition asking for M, H and children to give up their titles"

Followed by

"I was just wondering if a petition has started for them to have their titles removed and if anyone could link me??"

You quite obviously missed the second part off your post.

Although I don't support the ops view , this complete pile on is making me very uncomfortable , she's entitled to her opinion as we all are .
This is the royal family topic not aibu .

Thanks @Roussette My list was just stuff I remembered off the top of my head but yours is more substantial - didn't know about the Epstain loan, or that she tried to sell access to Andrew!? Wtf.

I see Edward has just been given another title. Hmm.

There was some sort of scandal with Sophie trading on her royal title and she lost her PR company as a result of it but I can't remember the details of it right now . Will look for a link after work.

Aarohi · 10/03/2023 15:15

You don't need a petition to ask them - just message them on Insta. Harry's allegedly on there all the time.

Sophie wasn’t trading on her title. She was caught out by the News of the World’s feik sheik and was indiscreet about Prince Charles, the Queen Mother and Cherie Blair among others.

Her business partner was then busted trading on her title.

So that’s when the whole half-in-half-out thing was declared not to work and she had to resign from her firm. That was in 2001.

I don't think it's any more of a pile on than the constant threads that single out and pile on to one or two of the well known supporters just because they have different views and won't give in to the constant M&H attacks.

maddy68 · 10/03/2023 16:34

Why does it bother you ? Surely you have more important things going on in your left

jeffgoldblum · 10/03/2023 16:34

Two wrongs don't make a right , pile ons from either side are not on .

Yes they are. Seeing as they obviously have so much time on their hands, they could have just googled to see if there is indeed such a ridiculous petition out there.

x2boys · 10/03/2023 16:43

Who would you send the petition too Op🤔

Maybe it just needs more posters in agreement with OP rather than it being taken as a pile on.

H wouldn’t care what us British peasants think. He thinks he’s above us. He’s stuck in some kind of 15th Century time warp where he thinks the royal family rule us, rather than are there at our pleasure.

And the rest of them.dont?

I don't think OP had thought this far. Maybe head girl of the anti M&H crowd.

Roussette · 10/03/2023 16:49

Isn't it right that literally anyone can start a petition? It doesn't necessarily get anywhere though!

Having said that, I signed two petitions yesterday... and I feel another one coming on.
(BBC not broadcasting Attenborough's programme on natural destruction for fear of a right wing backlash. Stating facts appears to be too political for them now)

jeffgoldblum · 10/03/2023 16:52

What @Roussette , seriously the bbc not broadcasting David Attenborough? , I can't believe it ! , he started there , he's a national treasure! .

I think OP meant something like this

Yes, I am honestly incensed by it. Here

(I don't want to derail the thread but the more people that know about this the better)

Roussette · 10/03/2023 16:57

I should add... it is the one episode and they will put it on iPlayer but they will not put it on terrestrial because of a rightwing backlash.

Sorry I'll shut up now

DuckbilledSplatterPuff · 10/03/2023 16:59

Isn't this thread just another dead cat on the table. Its running out of steam.
Surely this week you should be complaining about Gary Lineker and what he didn't say. Anything to get people riled up and angry.

jeffgoldblum · 10/03/2023 17:01

@Roussette , I've just read that and I'm sincerely disgusted and angry 😡!
I have no words, that would be a petition I would get behind.

Yes, I'm waiting for one. What with that and Linekar being stopped from presenting MOTD. The BBC obviously does not believe in facts and free speech.

jeffgoldblum · 10/03/2023 17:10

Sorry I know we're off topic @Roussette , but I've obviously missed the linekar stuff ! , what has he done? ( I'm preparing to be even more angry!)

Yes my dc's Geography teacher mentioned this to the class just yesterday that it wouldn't be on BBC and they would have to see that episode on IPlayer - but most of them teens would be watching that way anyway.

Well... he made THE comment. It was misconstrued. But it was critical of the Govt's actions on the new refugee bill. And Gary hung on in there, wouldn't take it back. It looked like he'd won through, he got a massive amount of support for what he said.
But BBC have now removed him from MOTD whilst they discuss his social media presence. The thing is... it was his own twitter a/c, he is not a political presenter, he is entitled to his view....
