The royal family

Petition for H&M to give up titles

Namechangethisevening · 10/03/2023 07:11

Just wondering if there is a petition asking for M, H and their children to give up their royal titles? I once thought quite highly of H. Those times are long long gone, along with his and his family's respect for and presence in the UK. I want H&M to have nothing further to do with the UK royal family, seeing as they want nothing more to do with us except when it benefits them.

I was just wondering if a petition has started for them to have their titles removed and if anyone could link me??

Thanks

Another monarchist with zero idea of how monarchies work.

Cracks me up every time. I want to chooooooose who's in my monarchy!

Roussette · 10/03/2023 09:39

Exactly! I signed two petitions yesterday. And no it wasn't anything to do with titles and H&M

RadioactiveWear · 10/03/2023 09:42

H wouldn’t care what us British peasants think. He thinks he’s above us. He’s stuck in some kind of 15th Century time warp where he thinks the royal family rule us, rather than are there at our pleasure.

Badger1970 · 10/03/2023 09:50

Petitions are a waste of space. It needs to come from the King and then Parliament, and at the end of the day, Harry is his son. To cut someone off who clearly has some pretty serious MH issues going on would be a horribly hard action from a father who appears to love his son a great deal.

It does annoy me a little that Harry and Meghan are only too aware of this, but that's on their consciences if they have them.

Did you read my post? It would be changing a law made by GEorge II in 1917, but crack on with it.

And Andrew?

The European Royals did not lose titles because of a petition.

So we shouldn’t petition for a law that’s over a hundred years old to be changed? Because once it’s law…it’s law?

I don’t think that’s the point you mean to make so please enlighten me.

and no, the European royal changes were not the result of a petition but were in reaction to public feeling…which a petition signed by members of the public is a demonstration of surely?

What Are You Doing Reaction GIF

Don't care about them but this is embarrassing, in a second-hand kind of way.

I second the comment to find something more useful to do with your existence.

Feel free to start a petition, it's your right to do so.

If there's enough public feeling, it might be worthwhile. If not, no. Your prerogative to do so though, freedom of speech and all that.

Having read quite a bit about the Danish change, it was the Queen's decision going forward with a slimmed monarchy. I found it quite interesting and read a lot about it at the time, I saw nothing about it happening just because of public opinion.

I have no idea of your point to be frank. What am I enlightening you about?

Theunamedcat · 10/03/2023 10:06

The king is unlikely to remove titles from his SON no matter what he does or says

Unfortunately that protects Andrew too because if he strips Andrew of his title he knows people will want him to strip Harry and meghan aswell I feel sympathy for him as a parent this must be hard for him negotiating this

I think the other way round. If he strips Harry and Meghan he has to strip Andrew and that would be public opinion demanding that

Novella4 · 10/03/2023 10:26

I don't believe Charles cares about Andrew's offences at all .
Charles has supported known sex offenders in the past

The only things stopping him removing titles is the simple fact that doing so proves that titles are not fixed birthrights.
Then it's a step to ' wait a minute - we prefer this 'royal' for the magic hat jobl'
And the whole wobbling edifice collapses.

Do you think perhaps you should get a hobby or go out a bit more OP?

BlueSeaWave · 10/03/2023 10:29

Oh dear god.
Are you one of those people that goes bat shit crazy if there’s a photo of William and Kate holding hands?
Maybe start a petition for Andrew and his non working royal daughters first?

bimblebumblebee · 10/03/2023 10:30

I'd like a petition for all posters of this ilk to get a life, and preferably do something positive with it.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 10/03/2023 10:32

It’s bizarre that the Danish example is pushed with this.

They now have lesser titles, but they’re not untitled…

Same with the Swedish youngsters that have lost their HRHs

blackberriesaretheonlyfruit · 10/03/2023 10:36

Take the petition away all they want he'll still be the King's son/brother ffs it would make sod all difference. He is who he is and a title won't change that.

blackberriesaretheonlyfruit · 10/03/2023 10:37

Titles obviously

PreparationPreparationPrep · 10/03/2023 12:16

OP honestly it's quite easy to find out if a petition has been already started. You could google if you don't find it - start one, then add the link to your OP.

But I'm guessing you knew that already.

Mummyoflittledragon · 10/03/2023 12:18

Problematic. The dukedom couod be removed. But not the title of Prince and Princess .They then become Prince Harry and Princess Harry (Henry). No one would call Meghan this but unlike Catherine (and Diana), Meghan is not a princess in her own right.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 10/03/2023 12:28

What would be the point? I'm not a H and M fan but I couldn't care less about them having titles.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 10/03/2023 12:29

Who exactly are you intending to petition?

adrianmolesmole · 10/03/2023 14:39

Utterly stupid. Why don't you petition for Andrew to lose his title? Anyone who even comes close to a criminal allegation should be immediately 'struck off' so to speak, don't you think?

Or is that a less important crime than Harry and Meghan wanting to leave?

Also think about Fergie - why is no one talking about her? She's still a duchess:

Divorced
Non-working royal
Lives/d in America for years
Brought out memoirs, talking about the royal family
Made/makes her own money by doing the chat show circuit and appearing in TV shows like Friends
Sold diet pills or a diet plan or something
Sells cringey mills & boon books
Embarrassed the royal family with cringey sex scandal

Still a duchess! Don't get me wrong, i like her, but... still a Duchess. There has been no outcry that she should lose her title.

Harry:
BORN a blood prince
Higher up the food chain than Fergie
Talks about trauma and therapy
(Charles also talked about his trauma growing up in the Royal family)
Married a black woman

We must have a petition to remove their titles!

How about Op, you use your brain and stop letting the tabloids tell you what to think, eh?

Roussette · 10/03/2023 14:46

Well said @adrianmolesmole

Can I add to SarahF...

Divorced 27 years but still living on a Royal Estate

Brought out over 70 books with her title Duchess of York (Dining with the Duchess and Dieting with the Duchess just two of them. That is not a joke by the way, they exist)

Took money from Jeffrey Epstein to pay off debts

Uses the Royal Park Estate to film dreadful adverts for her Mills & Boon books whilst dressed up in royal garb from centuries ago

Tried to sell access to her ex husband the Duke for £500,000 even though she had been divorced from him for 14 years at that point

Great post. I couldn’t agree more.

mathanxiety · 10/03/2023 14:53

This petition idea is both silly and very sad all at the same time.
