The royal family

How do republicans who support H&M feel about 'princess' lillibet

I mean how do you reconcile the, to me, gross hypocrisy of saying you want to leave the royal family to pursue your own projects and for privacy and would give up their royal titles.

Their own projects so far consist of trashing the royal family and making money from it, while clinging to their royal titles.

Privacy consists of reality tv shows, public therapy sessions and a book tour.

They touted their children's privacy and security as a reason for leaving yet they name their children prince and princess. A sure fire way to draw attention to them and reduce their security.

I honestly want to know how people who want the monarchy gone yet praise harry and Meghan for their bravery in standing up to the RF, square this circle?

It feels weird to read that anyone wants H&M to attend just to make others feel a certain way.

I want them to attend for themselves and their family. I want the children to have the titles because they are part of the Royal Family.

It feels like I care more about the well-being of these people whose behavior I don’t like than those of you that claim to like them. It sometimes seems like you only support them because of what they represent to you.

Roussette · 10/03/2023 15:09

Someone has to stand up for the important role played by the courts and criminal justice system in testing the facts and the evidence, and recognise the dangers inherent in acceding to mob rule.

Well done to you then.

My point is... and you should know this from my countless posts about PA... the victims have been besmirched and disbelieved by posters on this very forum time and time again. It is vile. And posters choose not to even try and understand what sex trafficking means.

She was old enough
She was smiling
She liked the money
Where were her parents?
Who goes to an island if they don't want to?
She knew what she was doing
He did nothing wrong

Likewise I don't care a fig about your legal blarney when there has been victim blaming of trafficked vulnerable girls, as a subtle way of defending Andrew.

I agree with you. And if they attend it will be for those reasons.

@MrsMaxDeWinter
Angela Kelly has retired. I don't know who assists with the jewellery now.
If Meghan wants to borrow the Spencer tiara, she'd need permission from Charles Spencer who owns it.
I suspect she'll be given a choice, after the Queen and Princess of Wales have made their decisions.

sydneysunset · 10/03/2023 15:15

Interesting that Harry has been happy to openly smear his nearest relatives for the most trivial things but doesn’t seem to have a bad word to say about Andrew.

Mind you, the princess announcement really underscores how much Andrew and Harry have in common

I don’t profess to know anyone’s motivations.

But I think as part of the Royal family, they belong there.

Yes. I agree. I think they are attending for that reason - to please Charles and for appearances sake.

Don't get me wrong, I want them to attend for all those reasons .

But I also want them to attend for the amusement value: it will have the UK media in a rage and Mumsnet all frothy. 😅😅

@MrsMaxDeWinter

It always makes me think of this... (wailing and gnashing of teeth)

Dr. Ian Paisley, the fiery Irish cleric and politician was reported to have been preaching one Sunday on the End Times - and in particular on the Day of Judgement. As he reached the climax of his address he said that on the Day of Judgement "there would be wailing and gnashing of teeth”. At which point an old woman put up her hand and said “Dr. Paisley, I have no teeth” Paisley replied “Madam, teeth will be provided”
🤣😂

MrsMaxDeWinter · 10/03/2023 15:33

My dad really loved that joke.😂

Indeed, there will be much gnashing of teeth.
And rending of garments.
And balding of heads.
And ashening of foreheads!!!

All quite Biblical.

bizzywiththefizzy · 10/03/2023 15:40

Not being funny but won't all the other royal women have already chosen which tiaras they will be wearing .Along with other royal jewels they are being allowed to wear . Meghan will have a limited choice .( Sophie. Beatrice .Eugenie .Anne etc)

sydneysunset · 10/03/2023 15:42

I really hope they attend because their puffed up self-importance is a source of endless amusement to me. Can’t wait to see Meghan’s studied smirk! They are basically pantomime fools 😁😂

Maireas · 10/03/2023 15:43

I would think so, @bizzywiththefizzy , but there are a lot of beautiful pieces. Meghan may well have already been offered and/or selected her tiara.

They don’t tend to swap tiaras much between them anyway. They’ll mostly wear “their” tiara.

Which for Kate, Anne and Sophie will mean a choice of the ones they’ve worn before.

Meghan and Eugenie will likely wear their wedding tiaras.

Beatrice will be an interesting one as that’s a “big” tiara in terms of its significance to the Queen so be interesting to see if she wears it.

If the men are all just wearing suits there is a chance not all the women will be in tiaras (although I hope they are - the bling of that collection never gets out as it is and this is one of the biggest chances for a long time to see lots of pieces).

Are all these royal women seriously going to be wearing tiaras?

It's going to be such an ostentatious display of wealth isn't it....

Maireas · 10/03/2023 15:49

@Roussette 😂😂
It's a coronation, that goes without saying!

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 10/03/2023 15:52

@Roussette I’d be very surprised if there was no tiaras at the coronation

Even at a pared back one I’d expect the royal women to be wearing them.

Normally pretty much all the women there wear them.

Maireas · 10/03/2023 15:53

It's a full throttle ceremonial event. Bling will be seen.

From what I have read, once a tiara is loaned to someone in the RF then they have the exclusive use of it for the rest of their life.

stillavid · 10/03/2023 15:56

I want to see them all dripping in tiaras and amazing jewels, but not those weird special medals that are on sashes - they are ugly! I don't care about the significance, I just want pretty fashion.

And I want lots of stories in the press from both sides about how Alexis and Krystle (Kate and Meghan) had a proper mud fight over which tiara to wear.

mixedrecycling · 10/03/2023 15:54

It’s very normally the case. There are odd exceptions here and there, but the British lot don’t tend to swap tiaras much (unlike the Swedes who just all share).

The tiara Beatrice wore has been worn by Princess Anne as well, and was one commonly worn by the Queen, which is why it’ll be interesting to see if it stays with her for events as it’s a well used/well known one.

It could be that it’s planned to be worn by her rarely then passed on to another generation. We shall see.

We won’t see the wedding tiaras worn by Meghan or Eugenie on anyone else, that’s for sure.

Maireas · 10/03/2023 15:58

Yes, that does tend to be the practice.
In which case Meghan will wear her wedding tiara - which is gorgeous. She also has matching earrings, so I hope she brings on the bling as well.
Plus a bespoke couture outfit. Maybe Givenchy or Dior?.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 10/03/2023 16:06

@Maireas

Very interesting about the tiaras.

Would the Royal women be wearing floor length dresses or ceremonial robes, do you know? I read somewhere that the ermines are out?

bizzywiththefizzy · 10/03/2023 16:07

I am looking forward to royal jewels getting an outing 😍

I just imagined... as the last coronation was over 70 years ago, and times having changed enormously since then, it might not be the same sort of coronation as before.

I know I know there are less going. I also know it's not going to be so long but all those tiaras dripping with diamonds 😲
