The royal family

How do republicans who support H&M feel about 'princess' lillibet

purpledalmation · 09/03/2023 10:15

I mean how do you reconcile the, to me, gross hypocrisy of saying you want to leave the royal family to pursue your own projects and for privacy and would give up their royal titles.

Their own projects so far consist of trashing the royal family and making money from it, while clinging to their royal titles.

Privacy consists of reality tv shows, public therapy sessions and a book tour.

They touted their children's privacy and security as a reason for leaving yet they name their children prince and princess. A sure fire way to draw attention to them and reduce their security.

I honestly want to know how people who want the monarchy gone yet praise harry and Meghan for their bravery in standing up to the RF, square this circle?

Who said they wanted to keep the fact the christening happened private? Nobody. They said they are not releasing the godparents names to respect their privacy. Probably because of the crazy people who find any excuse to attack people associated with Harry and Meghan. If I was a godmother I would not want that to be known publicly either.

And I have said twice before that I wouldn't want my name released either. And there have been really quite a few posters who have also said this.

This is a case of "go away and shut up" followed by "I demand to know who the godparents are"

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 10/03/2023 13:28

I know. I do not understand it. These are strangers ffs. How can you invest so much time in hating a total stranger.

This equally applies to members of the RF. I have seen them described as parasitic cunts amongst other delights. Plus all the individual insults.

OutOfChocolate · 10/03/2023 13:31

@Sweetpeasaremadeforbees Then report that. Insults against the royal family get deleted. The absolute nonsense made up about Harry and Meghan do not get deleted.

OutOfChocolate · 10/03/2023 13:33

@Roussette It astounds me they would rather get upset at the names of all the godparents not being released to the public, than the fact an actual sex offender has been protected by the family.

Yes absolutely.

Anything goes for H&M now. There is no moderation and you can call them anything you like. I don't report posts any more because I get asked to moderate and answer back myself. Unless it's an outright PA to me.

I know. Bizarre in the extreme. But watch out because there are a lot of Andrew apologists about. Because defending this disgraced member of the RF in some warped way is attacking H&M.

Someone said today on one of these threads that there is no difference between them.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 10/03/2023 13:36

Why report it? I'm sure the RF won't give a toss if a random on MN says they have rictus grins. I'm just illustrating the hypocrisy.

Starflecked · 10/03/2023 13:40

I don't really get the whatabouttery regarding Andrew. There are very few, if any, sticking up for him, therefore it's not really a discussion point as views aren't as polarised as they are in the case of H&M. Imagine threads about it- yeah I agree he's gross, yeah me too, me too; hardly worthwhile. It's interesting meghan was listed as someone lawyers were interested in taking the stand with the VG stuff, I suspect Andrew isn't the only one they were protecting in not wanting crap unearthed.

Anyway I suspect the godmother is someone like Oprah seen as though their Hollywood mates are their only friends.

Inkanta · 10/03/2023 13:12

Good grief Purpledalmation - you've been complaining about them solidly all day!

Yes, I had plans for a mini birthday party celebration, but the snow cancelled it and I'm taking, out my frustration here. Stuck indoors, kids off school and I'm bored. 🤣🤣

Loads of people stick up for him. Often by knocking the victims. Or saying what's the problem, she knew what she was doing. Or, she was old enough. Or she was in it for the money. Or she looked happy enough. Or she was smiling. Then leading on to saying that it hasn't been fair on Andrew, he's not been accused of anything. Blah Blah Blah. All whilst ignoring the fact he gave £5-£12million to a complete stranger.
And so on.

I've only ever seen people on here argue about the terminology and point out facts rather than defend him to be honest. Hardly sticking up for him or victim blaming, anyone who has is in the minority.

I've seen lots of defending of him. Seriously I have. You can disbelieve this if you want. There have been countless posts on threads not just arguing about terminology. Particularly labouring the point he's not been accused of anything.

You have to join the dots here.

Don't orphan the thread @purpledalmation !
Please think of the children!!! 🤣

And I will miss reading your posts .

Coronateachingagain · 10/03/2023 13:55

We are not born "equal" are we - anyways why would they even have to make public their choice, something other than peddling the news and drama further.

purpledalmation · 10/03/2023 13:59

@jeffgoldblum Well have it taken into foster care for a while. I did notice that when you start a thread it appears in active, and a lot of posters put a wide variety of views, and in this case, supportive of the view H&M are hypocrites. But as time goes on a small collection of their supporters come on and just attack and get rather silly. I sort of get bored with it then.

And I am so missing my birthday cake treat 😭

Aww @purpledalmation ! Happy birthday 🎂, yes I noticed that too , you did get a few real republicans on though , so it wasn't all bad !
I thought you were standing up well , I would have bailed ages ago 😃.

Proudofitbabe · 10/03/2023 14:03

It makes absolutely NO sense to use titles on your American kids when you demonstrably hate the institution and the pressure it brings, and have criticized it publicly many times.

Unless... you are irrelevant otherwise. They hate the RF but are nobodies without it, and they know it. Everyone does really.

What is it you want? No difference of opinion? Is that what you're saying?

You cannot control a thread you start. You will get different posters with different opinions and it is a discussion forum, they are quite entitled to express an opinion.
Can you imagine how 'bored' those that don't loathe H&M get with the same old same old?

Works both ways.

Roussette · 10/03/2023 14:10

And just to add to my post... within the first 20 posts of your thread, there are people disagreeing with you. So it's not 'as time goes on'. It is straight off.

MrsMaxDeWinter · 10/03/2023 14:43

@purpledalmation

Oh my word! Did you say Meghan will wear a tiara to the Coronation? And one that she won't have to pry from Angela Kelly's unwilling hands?

If that's true. I have changed my mind.

Now I really, really want them to come.

That will piss people off. Just imagine the threads on Mumsnet!

it will be even more amusing if she gets the "back seat" row behind the pillar that the press propagandists are baying for, while all the other sparkly tiara people are in the front row. If she gets the back seat behind the pillar seat, I hope she borrows the Spencer tiara, and sits there with what @purpledalmation calls a rictus grin, particularly during the serious bits.

Luckily of course that will not happen.

Small-minded and petty as this King and his advisors appear to be on occasion, I want to believe that they understand more than all of us the majesty of this historic occasion, and unlike Angela Levin, Dan Wootton, Piers Morgan Tom Bower, Camilla Tominey AKA The Ghastly Snarlers, realise that it is not a "How Do We Best Spite Meghan in Public" opportunity.

Because surely the Coronation is not all about spiting Meghan. Surely it's bigger than that?

Or is it not?

jeffgoldblum · 10/03/2023 14:45

It's @purpledalmation 's birthday, she's gone off to eat cake , I doubt you'll get a response.

Serenster · 10/03/2023 14:47

Well it wouldn’t piss lots of us off, you know, before you start getting too excited. If tiaras are being worn by guests to the ceremony (which will include plenty of people who have access to them, not just the BRF) it is absolutely likely that Meghan will wear one as well. Her lovely wedding tiara, I imagine.

Generally technical legal arguments whilst begrudgingly acknowledging hes a wrongun.

Would the "technical legal argument" be that he hasn't been found guilty?

And yes, he is, and has been for years and for many reasons, a very nasty piece of work

Some people have no interest in blindly joining in the irresponsible and unethical prevailing mood of conducting trials of important criminal matters on message boards or social media. Particularly when we are in the era of paid and fake news. Someone has to stand up for the important role played by the courts and criminal justice system in testing the facts and the evidence, and recognise the dangers inherent in acceding to mob rule. The proper place for the determination of these issues is in the court room, not on Mumsnet.

Unapologetically from someone whom I have no doubt you have down as one of these people you want to “join the dots” about. The dots to what I wonder? I have no time for Andrew, but I am and always have been a defender of due legal process and I don’t give two figs for whatever “dots” you want to throw around on this issue I’m afraid.
