The royal family

How do republicans who support H&M feel about 'princess' lillibet

I mean how do you reconcile the, to me, gross hypocrisy of saying you want to leave the royal family to pursue your own projects and for privacy and would give up their royal titles.

Their own projects so far consist of trashing the royal family and making money from it, while clinging to their royal titles.

Privacy consists of reality tv shows, public therapy sessions and a book tour.

They touted their children's privacy and security as a reason for leaving yet they name their children prince and princess. A sure fire way to draw attention to them and reduce their security.

I honestly want to know how people who want the monarchy gone yet praise harry and Meghan for their bravery in standing up to the RF, square this circle?

Charles and Anne on Coronation Day

So cute! I'm always surprised at Anne's Shjrley Temple curls.

Maireas · 12/03/2023 17:34

Cute pictures!

@IcedPurple I read that they didn't like Dumbarton because no one in America knew where it was and it has the word dumb in it. Not good PR. Probably not true but funny.

@Serenster I agree the 5 and unders are unlikely to be allowed in simply because it's a state occasion. Lots of brides don't like kids at their wedding for similar reasons.

@vera99 That's a perfectly dire line up!

I'd love to see prince Louis poking his tongue out.

But it's his birthright! I thought the idea was for them to allow the children their 'birthright'?

Who knows their thought processes 😀

Best guesses on the concert at the moment are less than stellar ;

The concert line-up has proved to be a bit more difficult to secure than you might have expected. Multiple big names have apparently turned down the gig, including Adele, Ed Sheeran, the Spice Girls and Elton John, a close friend of Princess Diana.

According to The Sun, Take That members Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald are likely to headline the event (sorry ladies, Robbie Williams declined).

Andrew Lloyd Webber is expected to make an appearance in some capacity, and so too are Olly Murs and Lionel Richie, said to be one of the King’s favourite musicians.

I have just seen something online that their children are deemed too young by the palace to attend the service - has anyone any insight into the cut-off age for this?

I don't think there's any precedent for preschoolers to go to any lengthy set-piece formal ceremonies.

Louis first went to church at Sandringham this Christmas (a much shorter service, camera-free inside) when he was 4.

I think it's likely that, just as Charles was the only child at the last Coronation, George will be only one at this.

Maireas · 12/03/2023 18:27

George and Charlotte

EdithWeston · 12/03/2023 18:30

But I hope they have the whole pack of them on the Balcony.

First line up, working Royals only. Then the whole shebang. There'll be so many out there it should be easy to shove Andrew right to the side ideally behind someone's humungous hat.

vera99 · 12/03/2023 18:44

Of course the whole shebang shebang is likely to include H&M with a perfectly coiffed Meghan to show how us it’s done....

I think we’ll see three balcony / photo ops

The working bunch
Charles immediate family
the whole lot

Think there is likely to be a win win for KC & H&M if they do the family balcony shot with all 5 grandchildren.

H&M get the money shot that will keep them relevant to keep grifting elsewhere and KC will get the ‘happy family’ together shot.

K&W will be interesting to observe.

Wonder if Camilla’s children and grandchildren will be included on that photo op lineup and given equal billing - that would demonstrate a modern blended family and at the same time potentially dilute / interrupt any stark observations of W&K / H&M.

I wonder if they will do something within the celebrations to acknowledge Archies birthday on the day?

Ed Sheerans people have denied this, and said he wasn’t asked.

Poor old Britain, war in Europe, banks going bust, families going cold and unfed, NHS collapsing, cost of living crisis, and we are talking about how to arrange the deckchairs on the Titanic to best effect.

You don't half post a load of old cobblers @vera99 !

Coxspurplepippin · 12/03/2023 20:02

And under both alter egos too. Or rather as self and alter ego.

I think the spelling is Lilibet.

Lilibet qualifies for the title without asking. As the granddaughter of the King she is a Princess.
Her title never affects me, in any way. Nothing changes if it is withdrawn except the history, culture and traditions of the BRF that I enjoy learning about and looking at.
Harry and Meghan should not be allowed to take anything away from their children. And who cares if they grow up knowing they are the King's grandchildren.

EdithHowland · 21/03/2023 08:47

I bet M&H are dreaming of the million dollar balcony shot and the massed crowds singing Happy Birthday to Archie.

They really have the skin of a herd of rhinos. Harry is family, but if I had behaved to my in-laws as Meghan did I would have died rather than grace one of their occasions (no matter what the perceived justification). But then again the opportunity for £££££ and showing off a fab outfit probably overrides any embarrassment…

Kerrysgotabicycle · 21/03/2023 08:50

It seems weird to me that H&M chose to leave but then claimed the titles for the children. It really undermines what they claimed they wanted. I think they are hypocrites TBH

It would have been far more sensible if they had followed Prince Edward's lead. His children are entitled to Prince/Princess but he and Sophie accepted the lesser titles of Lady/Viscount for them. Their children can choose to use Prince/Princess when they are older, but it is their choice.
Many people use Princess Anne's children as an example, but they were never eligible for Prince/Princess. The usual practice would have been to have given Captain Mark Philips an earldom so their children would be Viscount/Lady but Princess Anne didn't want them to be encumbered with titles.
