The royal family

How do republicans who support H&M feel about 'princess' lillibet

I mean how do you reconcile the, to me, gross hypocrisy of saying you want to leave the royal family to pursue your own projects and for privacy and would give up their royal titles.

Their own projects so far consist of trashing the royal family and making money from it, while clinging to their royal titles.

Privacy consists of reality tv shows, public therapy sessions and a book tour.

They touted their children's privacy and security as a reason for leaving yet they name their children prince and princess. A sure fire way to draw attention to them and reduce their security.

I honestly want to know how people who want the monarchy gone yet praise harry and Meghan for their bravery in standing up to the RF, square this circle?

I think it's an adjective .

Time to stop messing about on my phone ...

Serenster · 10/03/2023 11:50

Exactly. The idea that this was in response to H and M's title statements in the last few days....honestly do these posters actually listen to themselves? It's batshit.

I completely agree. I also note that this announcement about titles was announced, with a Palace press release, and the website being immediately updated with Edward and his son’s new titles being reflected in the line of succession and also his and Sophie’s their personal biographies being updated. So this was all obviously planned in advance to be seamless.

Contrast the Sussexes deciding they wanted their children to be styled as Prince and Princess. Which was announced in People, not known about by the palace press team, and it took a day for the to update the website. Clearly the Sussexes were acting independently there. Interesting to speculate why.

purpledalmation · 10/03/2023 12:03

@Serenster I think they have little or nothing to add now, so it's a desperate attempt at relevancy. Harry's #WorldTherapyTour is just creating eye rolls, meghans Netflix Rom Com idea is a non starter, Archwell isn't the income stream it's supposed to be, and I'm dubious Harry's Invictus Games merching deal will go down well.

So any headline grabber they can muster is a win for them. I'm now more sure they will attend the coronation because it's their last throw of the dice where the RF are concerned.

So be prepared to see duchess Meghan sitting there in her borrowed tiara grinning like a Cheshire Cat.

@Serenster At what age are babies normally baptized in CoE?

derxa · 10/03/2023 12:13

Novella4 · 10/03/2023 11:36

@derxa
It's a collective noun - eg ' the French , the British .

It's what Jimmy Hill used to call us when we were playing England at football. The correct plural noun is the Scots or the Scottish people

derxa · 10/03/2023 12:15

Coxspurplepippin · 10/03/2023 11:37

You an' Me, Derxa, we're 'the Scottish' Grin

We ur but we don't take kindly to cheeky references.

Roussette · 10/03/2023 12:22

Good grief, what's the matter with you. Even Meghan knows about a sense of occasion. Was she grinning like a cheshire cat at the funeral? No.

All tiaras are borrowed from the Palace Collection.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/03/2023 12:27

You'd have to be insider/family to have known the intention and the timing

Exactly - and yet once again some are making the Edward announcement all about H&M, with the usual pretence to know things on the back of something somebody's said or even just imagination

And that's why I believe not coming to the coronation may be the better choice, because even on the day some just won't be able to help themselves

Coxspurplepippin · 10/03/2023 12:33

Slightly better than being referred to as Scotch. Hic.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 10/03/2023 12:40

I hope they upgrade Sophie’s tiara now, the one she is currently allocated is awful!

No one, even Meghan, grins at a funeral. Every other occasion we get the rictus grin. This is a fact. She is almost always grinning as soon as she spots the camera.

Of course she has the right to borrow a royal tiara. She's a member of the royal family. She's a duchess. All these are facts.

I despair. 'Rictus grin'. How horrible.

Carry on with the endless names and insulting, it's there for all to see.

purpledalmation · 10/03/2023 12:49

Also can't help wondering what Oprah thinks now about the news of the christening title of princess? I also wonder if she was on the christening guest list as they are near neighbours? Tyler Perry was a godfather so they were open about the guest list. OW would have been the ideal godmother, now that Jessica Mulroney was ghosted.

OP posts:
OutOfChocolate · 10/03/2023 12:54

The names of the godparents were not released to protect their privacy. Tyler Perry told the press he is a godfather so he obviously does not mind the public knowing that.
So why would you try and guess who the other godparents are? Just respect their privacy.

Ooompaloopa · 10/03/2023 13:01

orangeblosssom · 10/03/2023 09:39

"I'm not a royalist at all, but seen in context of the family, it makes sense to me. Harry and Meghan don't want to be a part of The Firm anymore - absolutely their choice, and I can understand why. Their kids might feel differently - let them have their birthright - when they're older they can decide whether they want to keep it, or not."

This.

But the kids always could claim their title when they wanted in the future.

This action is revealing in that it confirms that titles are important to the parents H&M.

Which we already know as they consistently call themselves Duke and Duchess and they discussed it with OW.

So no surprise that they have chosen to use these titles.

Whether you think it hypocritical to brand yourself and your DCs with an institution you consider toxic is a different discussion.

Why announce the christening if they wanted to keep it private? It was release by the couple via their spokesperson in the Los Angeles times.

@Ooompaloopa I think your use of the word 'branding' is correct. The couple need their Brand to be linked with the Royal Family despite their apparent loathing of them. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Inkanta · 10/03/2023 13:12

Good grief Purpledalmation - you've been complaining about them solidly all day!

OutOfChocolate · 10/03/2023 13:12

Who said they wanted to keep the fact the christening happened private? Nobody. They said they are not releasing the godparents names to respect their privacy. Probably because of the crazy people who find any excuse to attack people associated with Harry and Meghan. If I was a godmother I would not want that to be known publicly either.

OutOfChocolate · 10/03/2023 13:13

@Inkanta that is what she does. Day after day, week after week, month after month. She loathes them.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 10/03/2023 13:14

I assumed it was their way of announcing that they will be using the titles Prince and Princess or rather that it was an ideal time to announce it. Just randomly giving a statement that they were going to use their kids titles would have seemed odd and people would be saying 'but why now?' (That made sense in my head but looks confusing written down!)

The bitterness is exhausting!

OutOfChocolate · 10/03/2023 13:16

"Why announce the christening if they wanted to keep it private?"

These are the type of strawman's the Harry and Meghan hates set up. No one has ever said they want to keep the fact the christening happened private. But this lie will be repeated probably for months or years.
It is a common tactic. And it is one of the reasons that they will be attacked by the haters whatever they do. Because even if there is nothing to attack, they just make it up.

OutOfChocolate · 10/03/2023 13:17

@Inkanta I know. I do not understand it. These are strangers ffs. How can you invest so much time in hating a total stranger.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 10/03/2023 13:25

To be fair, another poster has used that exact description with regards to the rest of the RF on this thread.
