Lillibet's christening

Lillibet was christened in California last Friday by the Archbishop. Meghan's mother was there. Charles, Camilla, William and Kate were invited, but neither Harry's father or brother attended.

I am talking about her clothes at GEORGE'S Christening, further down, not at Louis's.

But she's wearing the same colour as the men and blends in fine. Confused

So none of the family can be bothered going to Lillibets christening?
Maybe Harry and Meghan can not be bothered going to the coronation?

Even if they were all still on good terms who'd want to fly half way across the world to attend a christening. With all that Harry has done recently why on earth would they go

To quote the well used MN phrase 'It's an invitation not a summons'

And as far as the coronation goes, we can only hope they stay away 🤞🏻

Oh & it wasn't an Archbishop who christened her it was a Bishop. Once again inaccuracies from H&M. Wonder if the real christening was just them in the garden, a few days before the actual event

GooseberryCinnamonYogurt · 09/03/2023 13:05

If they wanted to be low key why name the child Lillibet?

I'm so fed up reading about this so called 'seeking privacy' couple.

There are videos of her doing whole addresses at state banquets etc, as an adult, in French.

Yes, of course she could do that. But that doesn’t equate to fluency - rather the opposite. I could give whole addresses in a few languages, but I’m not fluent in them.

Verylongtime · 09/03/2023 13:23

Oh, I see. But Mrs Middleton is wearing navy blue, with white/cream. She blends in completely fine.

I don't think they are particularly welcome.

It will be best all round if they don't go. No one will talk to them incase they are wearing recording devices/cameras etc. So best to save their offended bollocks and just don't go.

Also, why make an announcement that being a prince and princess is their children's "birthright"? Who uses that term? It's so odd.

I have always been sceptical about the claims the pair may be narcissistic but the level of grandiosity on display is disturbing. I watched their Netflix documentary and the scathing way in which the Monarchy was portrayed - the British Empire, links to slavery and oppression (which I don't disagree with). Why, why on earth would you present that then claim hereditary titles for your own children? Even fully signed up, blue to the bone Edward has not sought titles for his own Children. It can only be for the perceived status this confers.

And stating the Bishop was an Archbishop? Why inflate his title like this when it is so easily fact checked.

EtherealandMysteriousFog · 09/03/2023 14:15

I would be very interested to see if domain names for PrincessLilibet and PrincessLili have been bought already. I bet they have. I see a children's clothing line in the works with a little embroidered crown above the moniker.

EdithWeston · 09/03/2023 14:41

Zara Tindall did a link up with Musto clothing (outdoorsy stuff) - though I think that was more from equestrianism (the brand also had William Fox Pitt)

So I don't find the idea of a link to a children's clothing brand unthinkable (though crown/coronet would be a bit much)

cyclamenqueen · 09/03/2023 14:49

Royal diaries are planned months in advance . Should the family members have disappointed ordinary people who had probably been planning a royal visit for months and who, incidentally pay for the royals through their taxes, be sacked off in favour of a christening of a 2 year old whose parents could not care less about you.

EtherealandMysteriousFog · 09/03/2023 14:50

It also sets the scene for another link up with Disney - Princess Lili and the Evil Step Grandmother.

Ridemeginger · 09/03/2023 15:23

@Verylongtime I'm not sure I care that much if she was or wasn't fluent to the standard you are concerned with, but I'll leave you this link to a French person listening to her, and refer to some of the comments underneath from people who have heard her converse. Maybe you can find something that proves it one way or the other if you're interested.

Or better to buy them up to prevent others using it.

Their titles have been updated on the royal website now.

To paraphrase Pedro Pascal "Sounds like Spanish French to me!".

I remember sally field played gidget in a series

Gidget - a defining character from my very early years.
Sandra Dee (plus other lesser known actresses) were in a slew of movies. Frances Ford Coppola even staged a musical version.

Both Gidget and James A Michener made me want to be a beach bunny or a beach bum, in spite of the fact I'm not really keen on sitting on beaches, can't surf and burn easily.

MN would explode!

Actually I am fully expecting them to take centre stage, that will be part of the agreement to them attending, according to reports negotiations are underway on where they will be seated, what roles they will be given and what they will wear, I think we can safely assume Charles will do anything they demand so there will certainly be no candles blocking Meghan, Harry will probably be in military uniform and Meghan will wear any tiara she wants, I don’t know what role in the ceremony they will be given but you can bet your bottom dollar it will be very high profile, what Charles doesn’t realise is no matter how much he capitulates it will never be enough for the pair of them, the soap opera will continue for years and in the meantime support for the monarchy will dwindle, I know my support is definitely waning.

Agree with this completely, even if you want to try and be sympathetic towards them, they make it very difficult!

Why don't Beatrice and Eugenie's kids receive titles as great grandchildren of the King?

I could see why the other great-grandchildren (Zara & Peter's kids) don't get them as they're not descendants via the male line, but B & E are.

Because it is limited to grandchildren of the monarch through the male line.

They're not great anything. They are C brothers kids!

And, as women, B&E can't pass on any titles.

E.g. Edward's children - grandchildren of a monarch through the male line, so could style themselves HRH Prince/ss James/Louise of Wessex.

James would eventually become HRH the Earl of Wessex after his father, his children won't be HRH Prince/ss, but would be Lord/Lady Name Mountbatten-Windsor.

Louise's children wouldn't have titles (unless their father has a title that gets passed on).

They are both hypocrites but we already know that. This is just further confirmation.
