What happened to just call me Harry? Why would they want their children to be burdened with titles?

“When reached by PEOPLE, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor."

People are not “confused”, they’re just sniggering at yet another Markle farce.

I misread then. Especially as a poster likened it to Katie Price's daughter and called it 'classy'.

Price21210 · 08/03/2023 19:00

According to the Washington Post, Lilibet's parents announced that they would claim the titles for both children at Lilibet's christening. So, Harry and Meghan did it. It's about time!

be using the titles Prince and Princess “conversationally”, only in an official capacity not quite sure what that means 🤔and Meghan's daughter Princess Lilibet Diana christened in US www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-64890702 See here

ididntwanttodoit · 08/03/2023 19:02

whether she (or they )use the title, she is a princess. So is Meghan. And Archie is a prince (even tho Prince Archie is a stupid name and one worth only of a children's picture book. did they never think of calling him Archibald - well, maybe not1(

I think it’s hilarious
They’re gaslighting the shit out of the royal family and the media.
good for them

On a personal level though, @RaspberryBeret1999, it’s really sad that their family relationships have broken down to this extent. If they are really trying to gaslight the RF, that’s even sadder and doesn’t bode well for their future relationships with their children, for example.

Couldn't anyone call themselves a Princess? No one could stop you surely?

It's not like imitating a police officer is it?

If you started styling yourself Princess Lynne from Bridgend you could presumably?
(Made up normal name and place)

Or could the King have you arrested 😁?

No, anyone can call themselves princess as long as they're not doing it for fraudulent reasons. On some of my loyalty cards I'm a professor.

A royal baby does also not need to be christened in a Church of England church to go into the royal line of succession."

I wish there were photos of the christening as I would like to see what people wore as I am superficial and like Meghan's style.

Just wait until the next book, there will be a picture there! Or possibly in whichever celeb magazine won the bidding war.

Aren't the titles of prince and princess basically meaningless, in a legal sense? Unlike peerages, which do bestow a certain status before the law? When Princess Anne was arrested for speeding, the court papers list her as a 'commoner'.

I think this absolutely underlines their desperation to hang on with a death grip to the Royal Family, amazing isn’t it that they want their daughter associated with the toxic, racist, bullying family that they found ‘freedom’ from, all for the dollar, they are utterly shameful the pair of them.

This with bells on.

(OOps posted too soon)

No, it doesn't have to be in a Church, but should be unless there are circumstances that make it impossible. In such cases it doesn't need to be done by a priest, if time is critical, or if there is another emergency. Once upon a time all midwives knew the "formula"

Do they perhaps mean in the way that Andrew refers to Sarah his ExW as 'The Duchess' in conversation?

So, Harry will refer to his son as 'Archie' rather than 'Archie, Prince of Sussex' or 'the Prince'?

So as I was saying to the Prince yesterday when we strumming our guitars together ...

Even if true, how's that going to work when they don't have official positions?

Soapnutty · 08/03/2023 19:15

So new branding strategy I take it…

Lilibet christened and will be using the title Princess
Hooklander · 08/03/2023 19:17

Omid's grammar needs a little work.

BadgerB · 08/03/2023 19:19

Is this strong a indication that H does as he's told by M? I would have expected "call me Harry" to be dead against titles, and Meghan to cling to them at all costs, (for future merch)

Price21210 · 08/03/2023 19:19

A new report was just released. The palace will updating the update the children's tiltes on the Royal website. So, the King isn't ignoring anything.

That’s what I was wondering. I mean I didn’t really imagine they would address them as Prince and Princess when they were calling them for dinner, but I didn’t quite follow what official capacity they were referring to 🤷‍♀️😂

Yes, because prince and princess are not peerage, just courtesy titles. So until prince William got married and the Queen made him Earl of Cambridge, he was a commoner, too!

I was trying to recall this!

Had some vague memory of them saying they didn't want titles because they wanted a normal life.

They just didn't want poxy titles like earl of Dumbarton they wanted to be normal princesses.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/03/2023 13:29

TBF from 1714 all monarchs had spouses from German states so you can see people's thinking here. But as George V changed the RF name from Saxe Coburg Gotha to Windsor during WW1 and effectively cut ties with all the German connections, you'd expect people to have caught up by now.

Incorrect. Queen Alexandra was born in Copenhagen Denmark. At the time of her childhood many of the now German areas were under Danish rule.

Her father was originally unpopular because he lost the war that ended up deciding what remained Danish and German. There is still to this day a minority German leaning population in Denmark and. Minority Danish leaning population in Germany in those areas.

If we look closely at the Royals its not Germany they all origin from its a Dutch queen.

I hadn’t really thought of that. Doesn’t that make it even more non sensical that they insisted that titles were necessary in order for the children have security 🤔🤔

It’ll be the same way as Lady Louise and Viscount Severn.

At school and to their friends they’ll be Archie and Lili. In any formal announcements, like today or weddings or if they attend any royal events, they’ll be titled.

Zone2NorthLondon · 08/03/2023 19:23

Well all the titles are unfair and I’d abolish the RF
love that it’ll annoy the royalist sycophants that H&M children are titled

Why did you think that he’s anti titles? He refers to himself as Prince Harry!
