Presumably this will be dismissed as frivolous, which the tabloids who are funding it probably already know, but it gets them some great nasty, yet very profitable online clickbait, for a while. Leave her alone fgs, she's a mum with small kids. The whole thing is miserable.

I agree that the whole thing seems a bit petty. Indeed the Sussexes arguments around dismissing the case are that it’s claimed are “irrelevant, vague and speculative”. Which they probably are. However it is somewhat ironic coming from a couple whose claims against the RF are also “vague and speculative”. It’s interesting that one of the things that Samantha wants her sister to acknowledge is that neither the late Queen nor the King are racist

Samantha Markle's the kind of relative I'd hope to never have if I ever got famous (not that I will!), trying to cash in at every opportunity. All of a sudden a defender of the royal family as soon as her sister starts to date one. Bet she never gave the royals a single thought until M met H. Utter poison!

Plitvice · 08/02/2023 09:10

It really needs to run out of mileage soon.
We are talking about a dull couple with cliched opinions who are all talked out versus an older sibling who is brimming with resentment and wants her day in court.

Samcro · 08/02/2023 09:12

if they are 17 years apart in age and M didn't live with her dad when she was little, I doubt M ever thought of S as a sibling. (trying to get it straight in my head)

If it is dismissed it will probably be because the Judge recognizes that US citizens are fed up to their back teeth of hearing from Harry and Meghan. They are such a joke in the US, I can't even put it in words. Americans are even more dismissive of them than Brits.

I don’t understand this. How can Americans become fed up with people like Harry, Meghan and other members of the Royal Family? No one is forced to read about them. It’s possible to choose what media you consume.

Maybe it’s different if you live in the UK and you support the Royal Family members financially. You could possibly be fed up with them, then. Or not.

But for Americans and Australians to be fed up with them is weird. Maybe less so for Australians because the British monarch is also our head of state:? And you can be fed up with the fact we still haven’t become a republic. As an Australian I don’t have to read about any RF member, unless it’s in politics and concerns the King - and he rarely rates a mention in the political sphere, here. I guess I am fed up with paying for Royals when they tour here. And they visit much less often than they used to.

But the publicity will be bad for saint Meghan

Would it? I think the only one looking bad regarding this, is Meghan's tacky, money chasing relative.

Because they live there and they primarily target the US market. They have appeared on NF and the main weekend and Oprah. Those who have ended up knowing who they are - they are not very complimentary (to put it mildly) and would not like to see any more of them. The few people supporting them are doing so for similar reasons to the few people who support them in the UK.

Bugeyedowl · 08/02/2023 09:27

Can Samantha even bring a case "on behalf of the Queen"? It's not up to her is it? We could all do it then! Pure money grabbing and trying to appear relevant.

How on earth is that relevant to a claim that she has been defamed?

Just like sis 😝

She did though. According to Tom Bowers book, Samantha was living with Thomas and Doris when Meghan was born, got to meet hey new baby sister etc. Then Meghan lived with her dad for much of her childhood. It's sorry of been airbrushed out but she and her dad are close until she met Harry!

Sam has been a nasty attention seeking cow since the very start of this. I am no fan of H&M but her half sister is just a nutter.

This

Xol · 08/02/2023 09:34

No idea how American defamation law works, but in England I think you can have a defence that effectively someone's reputation is so low that it would be impossible to defame them: the test is whether the alleged defamatory stuff would lower them in the minds of right-thinking people, and the argument is that the claimant is already at rock bottom so cannot be lowered any further. I wonder if Meghan could use that defence here?

Samcro · 08/02/2023 09:34

@TootsAtOwls thanks I got it the wrong way round. but S is still 17 years older. so they didn't grow up together.

Quite. IIRC, Meghan didn’t say she was an only child, she said she was brought up as one. Which she was because her siblings were so much older and never lived with her. Samantha’s lawyers must be rubbing their hands, it’s money for old rope and they probably won’t even have to go to court.

TootsAtOwls · 08/02/2023 09:37

@samcro Samantha was living with her dad when baby meghan was brought home from the hospital. I can't remember why she wasn't living with her own mum - but it's interesting that Thomas ended up being the stable home for his kids rather than being a weekend dad only.

TootsAtOwls · 08/02/2023 09:38

And Doria travelled for work which is why meghan lived with her dad. That's why she always talks about growing up on film sets, because he worked on them.

She was living with both and then they divorced when she was very young and she lived with her mother.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 08/02/2023 09:39

Samantha has no case imho. She's very foolish. I'm not a huge meghan fan but she's done nothing wrong here.

TootsAtOwls · 08/02/2023 09:39

Meghans dad had her full time from when she was 11.
