If King Charles asked people not to boo the couple and did a deal with newspapers and TV to not print pictures of them or comment on their appearance, do you think they would come.

If there was a total news blackout where they were concerned (which I would just love!) so we didn't have to even see them, (apart from a passing glimpse), i think I could bear them coming. Daddy clearly want them there. Fatted calf and all that.

Would this get around the problem of them taking the spotlight away from the actual ceremony?

Do you not think that they have treated others appallingly?

The Sussexes have already shown they don’t care what their dc are subjected to

Like what? They have done everything in their power to protect their kids. Like good parents do. Their kids have been subjected to horrific racist comments, the parents took them away to a better country to keep them safe from such poison.

No, their parents have sold their childhood for $ and allowed the whole world to view their inner world, with absolute disregard.

They have severed all contact with both sides of the family leaving the children with no family apart from Doria on the global stage for everyone to savour. Their mother disclosed publicly she was suicidal whilst pregnant with Archie, said they accused their own family of judging the child’s colour of skin, now retracted, but the damage is done.

The children have been moved into the middle of LA media frenzy not the Cotswolds!

And now Harry has put them all at greater risk with his body count chess comments.

This is all highly damaging to the children and piss poor parenting.

Blip · 07/02/2023 13:05

Have you no concerns over the increased security threat they bring to the public?

Bugeyedowl · 07/02/2023 13:05

They were happy to parade them on Netflix

They showed them in the right context, and on their own terms, not at the demands of the braying, toxic british media.

It’s not a decision that either parents were entitled to make. The children are too young to give consent.

And the point of your comment is...?

I don't want them coming and I don't want to see or hear any more as most people have reached saturation point with them.

Starting a thread to ask is there any way the press could not make them the centre of attention has nothing to do with my personal views.

This. All fodder that contributes to the ongoing interest. I might actually watch the coronation if I knew that they would be present.

Darthwazette · 07/02/2023 13:23

Why the hell would people boo them? Surely civilised people don’t think the wild is a pantomime? It’s pathetic really.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 07/02/2023 13:25

Are your questions to me @Blip? No I don’t and no I’m not. I didn’t think his comments about the Taliban were anything the press hadn’t previously said (when they supported him, during his service).

TeapotCollection · 07/02/2023 13:28

The day of the coronation is Archie’s birthday so maybe they’ll have other plans

Blip · 07/02/2023 13:31

The Sussexes were happy to put their kids on display where the financial gain was theirs, less happy when others stand to make the financial gains.

Happy to force their dc to a live in a far less secure environment than the Windsor Castle enclave. Happy to up the terror risk to their DC by riling up the Taliban in another money making venture. Happy to talk about H's penis and sex life in public which obviously will create issues for their dc.

I see so you are not aware of his Kill Count comment presumably?

I think their behaviour at the Jubilee and the Queens funeral was impeccable. They didn't put a foot wrong.

But, I think that post documentary and post book lies a very different landscape.

If you were a family member or even a courtier, would you genuinely want to have a single conversation with Harry? Just the fact that Harry published details of the confrontation after PP funeral, and the way he released details of the conversation with KC as the Queen literally lay dying shows that no element is ever deemed too personal to stay private.

Even if you were a family member still retaining ties with them (I think just Eugenie?), you'd still naturally be nervous about whether any conversation remained private at all.

I agree it has become a pantomime largely down to Harry’s limited intelligence and strategy. Nonetheless booing is legal and a non violent expression of dislike. It’s very likely to be a painful and embarrassing episode for Harry and Meg.

Exactly. Who would utter a word to them , knowing it could end up on Netflix?

It’s not a decision that either parents were entitled to make. The children are too young to give consent.

You can say that about most parents (especially Mnners) who parade their kids on social media - FB, insta, influencers, etc, their kids don't get to give consent either. Yet H&M are the cruel parents for wanting to put their perspective across, and show their family in a positive light. You should all look at your own backyards.

thebellagio · 07/02/2023 14:01

@ZeldaWillTellYourFortune I think because the coronation is on Archie's birthday, they have a natural 'out' so I think they could get away with not coming

I think if they released a statement saying something like "we believe our attendance would be too much of a distraction for the coronation, which is in no ones best interest, so we will gracefully remain at home in LA where we will celebrate our sons birthday. We wish His Majesty the best, Long Live the King" or something similar, then everyone can move forward quite happily.

The issue is with the will they/won't they media conjecture and the subsequent "demands" "negotiations" that will just detract from anything else.

That is precisely why most parents don’t in fact parade their kids anywhere on line anymore.

There is absolutely nothing positive about embarrassing your kids with your global stories of your frost bitten penis and your bullying of a disabled house mistress at school.

Whatever gave you the impression that ANY of this is positive? It’s a spectacular example of narcissism I grant you, it’s an outstanding example of how to blow up global goodwill and credibility over night, definitely. But good parenting? No, they are too busy point scoring and getting revenge and naval gazing to notice the needs of their own children.

I think Charles should abdicate as he doesn't have the strength or stomach for the job.

Perhaps he'll abdicate at the Coronation? That'll be novel ! I doubt it, given he's having a new golden carriage and two new thrones made especially for the occasion.

From all the reports I've seen the new Coach is a gift and won't cost the RF or the taxpayers a penny.

Do you have other information?

I am, yes. I’ve read the book. The press have published other ‘kill scores’ and celebrated the soldiers for this. If memory serves, they heralded Harry as a hero when they reported on his ‘successes’ at the time. I really can’t get worked up about this.

So it flippin' shouldn't cost the taxpayer a penny! The thrones will. They are being specially made.

Your memory serves you correctly. They were numerous news headlines about how heroic he was.
And I can't get worked up about it either.

Blip · 07/02/2023 14:17

The Kill Count very obviously increases the terror threat to the UK public as well as the RF, and the protection services.

For those of you who "can't get worked up about this" it doesn't mean that the Risk has not been raised. If you don't care, then bully for you.

Blessedwithsunshine · 07/02/2023 14:22

Well let’s hope we don’t see a serious terrorist incident. I think people will care very much!

The problem is, though, he likened the people he killed to “chess pieces” which was probable equally as offensive as actually stating the number. Quite a few members of the security forces and the military were not impressed by him stating numbers either. I was wondering @Roussette, can you get worked up about what Harry said about the matron at school?
