Did anyone not tell her that she shouldn't dress like she was going to a party? In a church, no sleeves, deep v neck, messy hair. Why?! Did she even know the significance of the event- how deeply important Stephen's death was to many of us in England?

Oh get a grip. She looked fine.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/01/2023 00:14

I can't stand either of them but even I can't find anything wrong with what she's wearing!!

TimeToFlyNow · 21/01/2023 00:14

There's nothing wrong with how she looked

browlow · 21/01/2023 00:14

@RomeoMcFlourish no she didn't. Totally inappropriate for the church

Pfft.

Do you go to church regularly? To regular services and to memorial services?

I’d bet you’d find an outfit like that on various actual friends and family of Stephen Lawrence.

Well, then let God deal with her when the time comes

IlooklikeRonnieCorbett · 21/01/2023 00:17

Get a hobby. Seriously.

Devakai · 21/01/2023 00:18

I actually like Meghan but I agree with you.

RomeoMcFlourish · 21/01/2023 00:20

I’ve seen people wearing outfits exposing their shoulders in church before. No one was bothered. It’s fine.

The neckline on her dress was not deep - there’s absolutely no cleavage on show.

Her hair is not messy. It’s styled with some loose wavy bits framing her face. Do you think anyone with wavy or curly hair automatically looks messy?

I don’t really care about Meghan Markle, I’m not a fan of either of them. But I despise shit like this, where people like you are picking at someone completely unnecessarily.

As I said before, get a grip.

Theblacksheepandme · 21/01/2023 00:23

I don't see anything wrong with her outfit.

DuplicateUserName · 21/01/2023 00:23

Oh FFS, they missed a trick there OP.

They should've put you on the door so you can check everyone who enters, and make sure they pass your personal inspection.

Because that was the MOST important thing about Stephen Lawrence's memorial service, wasn't it? 🙄

jtaeapa · 21/01/2023 00:25

I think Harry made it clear that he didn’t educate her re any protocol at all. Bizarre the things that he didn’t tell her.

Perhaps Americans don’t mind uncovered shoulders in church? I do think the outfit is not really appropriate for church in this country. And many others.

Crispwinterday · 21/01/2023 00:25

It was almost 5 years ago. You need to move on.

And in any case you're being ridiculous about her outfit.

WinnieFosterReads · 21/01/2023 00:29

It seems an odd (or completely contrived) thing to be worried about at midnight on a Friday. Some might think you weren't completely genuine in your concern about church attire Hmm

you know what, she did overshadow it by being very late and wearing inappropriate clothes so the papers were all about her

I think that's a lovely dress and she looks good in it. It's not appropriate, though, for a church memorial service.

allswellthatends · 21/01/2023 01:06

I agree it's not really appropriate but Americans are much more relaxed about how to dress than we are. I remember being shocked thst the most pious friend I had sat in church chewing gum 😁

Underminer · 21/01/2023 01:08

I am not a fan of hers or either of them, but I can’t get worked up about whether or not this was appropriate clothes or not. It isn’t something I would’ve worn for a memorial service, but i think it is this sort of bollocks complaining about what she wore that’s really unnecessary. Call people out on their actual behaviour, not on their clothes.

AlpineSnow · 21/01/2023 01:09

It's fine. She wore a dark colour. It's not like she was dressed up like Mr Tumble

SammyScrounge · 21/01/2023 01:11

She was just ensuring that she stood out from the crowd by dressing unsuitably for a church service.

maybe that is it. I am a British "conservative" when it comes to this stuff

I think if this was 5 years ago, you really need to let this go and probably seek professional help

AttentionAll · 21/01/2023 01:29

Do you go to church OP? Or is this a thread of an atheist being offended on behalf of Christians?
I go to church. Church has moved with the times. Fifty years ago this would not have been acceptable, now it is fine.
