Did anyone not tell her that she shouldn't dress like she was going to a party? In a church, no sleeves, deep v neck, messy hair. Why?! Did she even know the significance of the event- how deeply important Stephen's death was to many of us in England?

Press at the time agreed she was dressed appropriately.

@AttentionAll do you have to be Christian to attend a church and pass comment about respectful dress?

OP posts:
Parroteets · 21/01/2023 01:37

Does it really matter? No, no it doesn't

browlow · 21/01/2023 01:38

@Whenharrymetsmellyq

nah. Harry has dragged up stories from 20 years ago.

He started it first.

It is all fair game

All those people calling me out for scrutinising a royal- please..

They made their life a circus with oprah/netflix/book deals. I am in the audience chewing the popcorn and pointing my finger :-)

I'm a Christian too. One of the most important lessons I've taken from my faith is never to judge anyone from their appearance. There's that parable Jesus told about a very devout well-respected man who rocked up to pray and who sat there feeling smug about how he wasn't like the disreputable sinner who'd slunk in too. Jesus said it was the second one who went away with his heart put to rights, not the man who'd been judging him. Christians don't need anyone to get offended by people's church-going clothes on our behalf, and we shouldn't be looking to take offence ourselves. If you want to be respectful of our places of worship, perhaps start by respecting that belief and don't look for gossip fodder in a church service.

I’m actually so glad you brought this up because I haven’t seen an article about him in at least 8 hours and I was starting to forget.
Definitely no to bare shoulders in church, such a lack of respect.

Dintananadinta · 21/01/2023 01:46

She's got more makeup on than on her actual wedding day!

Well he has issues too, obviously 🙄

No, but it somewhat undermines your argument that it was inappropriate for church when regular churchgoers like a PP and me say that she looks totally fine

browlow · 21/01/2023 01:51

@Whenharrymetsmelly I am merely commenting on two celebrities that have used their status and image to make $$$$

It is what happens.

maybe that is it. I am a British "conservative" when it comes to this stuff

More a bitter " conservative"
You come across as a judgemental prude.

browlow · 21/01/2023 01:52

@DappledThings I think it is inappropriate for a British high profile memorial service.
I guess it could be in a synagogue, temple or mosque. Would still feel the same.

browlow · 21/01/2023 01:53

@Thedogscollar maybe.

But I have standards.

P.S. @DappledThings I take it your username is a Hopkins reference? Good choice. The Windhover is one of my favourite poems of all time.

browlow · 21/01/2023 01:55

@Thedogscollar i wear a bikini on the beach. I wear a tracksuit in the park. If i was representing the RF I would dress appropriately.

I would also never ever ever wear ripped jeans meeting a future king..

I 100% agree with this as a Christian.

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Nope you're just a nasty hiding under the guise of Christianity.

browlow · 21/01/2023 01:58

@AttentionAll

I am feeling judged for judging Meghan

Why are you judging me?

OP posts:
browlow · 21/01/2023 01:59

Thou must not judge

I would wear ripped jeans to meet my boyfriend's brother. And would consider him that rather than the future king. I would assume, as Megan did, that family and public duty were far more separate than they appear to be.

Letting you know that I don't consider her outfit to be inappropriate in a church isn't judging you. How do you interpret it as so?
