I keep hearing this rumour and I'm just curious to know where it comes from? Where is the evidence?

Not dog food, obvs, because if he'd been eating dog food I'm assuming it would have been out of the infamous dog bowl.

Maireas · 05/04/2023 20:34

@Onthenextcourt67 - they create their own problems? That sounds like victim blaming. I don't think anyone deserves what this thread set out to do. At all.
You're right about the hypocrisy, though. Awful to think that William and Kate deserve such treatment just because they're royal.

Oh fhs Maireas far too many incorrect assumptions here; I was actually thinking of Prince Andrew when I wrote that but please carry on making up things!

Maireas · 05/04/2023 20:49

@Coxspurplepippin - you are very naughty, but I like you! 😂

I am not making things up. Don't go down the personal route - I haven't done that to you.
If you were talking about Prince Andrew you should have made that clear. This discussion latterly has been about William and Kate.

ArcaneWireless · 05/04/2023 20:54

Just so that things are fair, here is Meghan looking positively stunning. And she wisely chose to avoid the aforementioned back entrance also.

Loved that style on her.

Did William really cheat on Kate?
ArcaneWireless · 05/04/2023 20:55

Thank you for that @Coxspurplepippin 👍🏼 😊

Maireas · 05/04/2023 20:59

@ArcaneWireless - lovely picture. Yes, no back entrance there. Gorgeous.

I’m not interested in a personal argument Maireas - it is you who have been following me around the thread making incorrect and rather insulting assumptions about why I was posting.

I don’t know why you fixated on me - I didn’t start the thread - and there are other pps who have been making far worse comments about the RF than me. If you read back, you will see that I have largely been criticising the institution not the individuals.

To be clear, I said,

”Not all of us have “personal vendettas” against individual members of the royal family, or a wish to cause any of them harm. Bluntly, most of them create their own problems without any help from random posters on Mumsnet!”

Since when did “most of them” plural refer specifically to W & K in particular?

Honestly, you’d think you were related to them or something the way you take umbrage so easily on their behalf!

I suggest we leave it there.

Maireas · 05/04/2023 21:17

I am not insulting. Stop being personal, @Onthenextcourt67 . Who's following you around?
Your choice to post what you post.
Please note - I have never been personally rude or unpleasant to you.

Peverellshire · 05/04/2023 11:01

Me too, FWIW, but you’re looking in wrong place quite possibly, the true situation just might make it easier for Kate to look past & understand.

I think I understand your comment and believe the same.

You say it’s my choice to post what I post and I agree! But Maireas you have responded to many of my posts and have accused me and other Republicans on this thread of posting in order to be personally vindictive towards K & W, and as that is patently and literally untrue, yes I do find it insulting thanks!

Apart from anything else, you cannot possibly know what is in my mind, or my intention, when I post!

Respectfully, I think you would do well to step back and gain some perspective on this issue.

By all means take the higher moral ground and make a stand on malicious gossip - good for you - but at the same time why not try and take on board the points that other people have made about William’s upbringing, the examples he has within his own immediate family, the rather “different” attitude that many aristocrats have towards fidelity, the example of many his forebears, the historical importance of lineage and property, and you might come to the conclusion that it wouldn’t be an unusual thing for William to do, given his background.

Many of us have acknowledged that we don’t know for sure, just that it wouldn’t be out of step with his background. That’s quite far from being personally insulting to him or his missus.

As I said before, even as a Republican, I can see that Kn& W are doing a good job - however we are all “victims” of our upbringing to some degree.

I don’t understand why you won’t allow me my own personal perspective on this tbh!

If truth be told , I am not really interested in the individual members of the RF, except to note that they seem to get themselves in to trouble without any extra help or encouragement or comment from us lowly commoners. I am interested in British and Irish history and Republicanism.

So do you think we can put this argument to bed please?

ArcaneWireless · 06/04/2023 20:19

There speaks a lowly commoner who has resurrected a difference of opinions from over 20 hours ago.

Way to put it to bed. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes indeed. I’m very proud to be a lowly commoner thank you ArcaneWireless.

And the delay in reply was, believe it or not, due to having to work for a living! A concept not often discussed on Royal threads! 😃

rattymol · 07/04/2023 10:51

Do bears shit in the woods?

Novella4 · 07/04/2023 15:15

@ArcaneWireless

Calling replying to a thread 20 hours later 'resurrecting? 20 hours !?
Are you serious ?
People have lives to live , believe it or not .

Novella4 · 07/04/2023 15:21

Also @rattymol
Lol

It will all come out in the wash
Kate seems happy to go along with things as they are .
I presume so anyway. I do sometimes wonder if she's trapped - and I imagine Williams temper is a real trial

All the 'royal' families are so manufactured and commodified .
It's so 1950s
Are gay royals not allowed ? Live a lie because it's shameful ?

ArcaneWireless · 07/04/2023 15:24

Resurrecting a thread to finish an argument that they no longer want? Aye. I’m serious. Although I concede resurrecting was the wrong phrase to use.

Why not step away? That is what the requested of the other poster.

Perspective needed all round.

And we all have lives to lead. And life is too short to try for the last word in an argument you no longer want. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Do you know... I have always wondered, what if one of them were gay. What if one of the young children now will be. I am sure there has been in the past, and I am sure there will be in the future. But it will be repressed and hidden like a nasty secret.

What pressure to hide your sexuality in these more open days and times.

It's all so weird, all of it. This family. So at odds with modern life.

Serenster · 07/04/2023 15:25

Prince William has publicly stated that it would be 'absolutely fine by me' if one of his children was gay, and he would 'fully support any decision they make'. Lord Ivor Mountbatten married his long term boyfriend a few years back too. So no, I don’t think it is a problem for them.

Prince Edward was dogged with homophobic rumours he was gay for many years. This suggests the problem lies more with bigots in society generally.

Roussette · 07/04/2023 15:27

But Lord Ivor Mountbatten... the name means nothing to anyone! He isn't slavishly followed as a Royal

Novella4 · 07/04/2023 15:31

I think that they probably do have several gay members in the 'royal' family

And the need for secrecy must make them very vulnerable .

It's all very weird

Novella4 · 07/04/2023 15:32

No @Serenster . Most people are not bigots as you so sweepingly claim

So a 'king'can be gay and out ?

ArcaneWireless · 07/04/2023 15:33

This suggests the problem lies more with bigots in society generally.

Indeed.

And imagine saying it about a person you don’t know from an egg in a snidey way. As if it is something someone should be ashamed about.

Or to try to add traction to a rumour for the purposes of digging deeper in an entrenched agenda.

Pitiful.

Roussette · 07/04/2023 15:36

I wouldn't say it about anyone because it's none of my business.

I just hope if now and in the future any of the RF are gay, they feel able to be open about it. That's all.

Cokefans · 07/04/2023 15:41

@Roussette ‘But it will be repressed and hidden like a nasty secret.’ You have zero evidence to say this and you are the one who has been arguing that nasty secrets (racism) should be hidden to avoid bad press for the royals.
