The royal family

The Royal Family is incredibly dysfunctional

They are an incredibly dysfunctional family with lots of internal rivalries, poor parenting and a strange culture of stay silent and we will protect you from actual crimes, but speak out and we will destroy you.
They really are a mess and I suspect they are so dysfunctional, they do not realise just how messed up the family dynamics are.
But maybe such a dysfunctional family is inevitable within a hereditary monarchy where your accident of birth means you have access to more money and power than your siblings and other close relatives?

The King has rejected a cut price Coronation.

I’m really pleased, I wasn’t impressed by a cut price coronation.

Blossomtoes · 16/01/2023 15:27

Where did you get £100m from?

It’s constantly bandied about on here. But, search as I might, I can’t find it anywhere else.

@Epiphany2023
You would have a point if the associations were a one off

But re Charles and pedophiles and sex offenders we have ( currently known , God knows what is still to be uncovered )
: his uncle - Mountbatten.
:his brother -still hiding from the FBI
His friend Peter Ball
His friend Saville

That's off the top of my head

I agree. The Royal Family appear to find paedophiles acceptable.

@Blossomtoes £100 million cost for a cut price Coronation, so will now be more.

Thanks for that. I guess The Sun must be right. We all know it only prints verifiable facts. However it fails to break down the alleged cost and adds

But worldwide TV rights will more than cover the cost and it will be a massive boost to tourism. Hotels are already being booked out for the coronation weekend.

If you look closely enough the majority of normal families are dysfunctional too. I doubt any of us would stand up to the intense scrutiny they are getting regarding parenting, inlaws and marriages.

I brought up boys. None of them openly supported and were friendly with convicted sex offenders. Let alone two of them! In most people’s eyes that wouldn’t be seen as ‘normal’ or even dysfunctional. It would be viewed as far worse.

It's not difficult to google it

The royals know they can barefacedly lie and their desperate sycophants will say ' how true !'
He lied that Camilla would never be queen
He lied that he would scale down the monarchy ( same money though!)
He lied about the scaled down totally unnecessary coronation

@Boulshired Accepting a million in cash in a suitcase for your charity?
Your sister having an affair with a man married to the woman who will become your stepmother - that is a plot twist worthy of Eastenders.
Charles defending paedophile Peter Ball.

This is not ordinary family dysfunction. Divorces, fall outs are ordinary.

Who?

Well, there’s one active pedophile per square mile in the U.K., so chances are we are all unknowingly associating with a few masked pedophiles in our community amongst friends and acquaintances.

I also wouldn’t count family members because you cannot choose who you are related to. King Charles III is most likely to be a victim of his uncle than consorting with him as he would have been the right age in the 1970s to if the unevidenced allegations regarding Mountbatten are even remotely true. Which they very well might not be as these kinds of allegations were often fabricated against gay men due to the homophobia of the times.

Prince Andrew isn’t “hiding from the FBI” and isn’t a convicted ‘sex offender’ what utter rot 🙄

A random caller on a radio program spouted £100m and that’s your source? I did Google it btw and that’s how I found the BBC and Independent reporting no £ figure for the coronation but saying it is pared down to 25% of the size of his mothers coronation.

The only English monarchs that didnt have a coronation over the past 1,000 yrs are those who died before they could or abdicated at the first opportunity.

He accepted it to be polite and then it was given back behind the scenes so as not to publicly insult the foreign royal who was donating it to his charity. He did the right thing for the situation.

I always accept a million in cash in a suitcase to be polite.
And you know yourself there were a number of cash donations and the Palace said the cash was put in the bank, not returned. Does this mean that was a lie and the cash never found its way to the bank after all?

@LadyVictoriaSponge It referred to my previous post, it was a conversation. I had been talking about raping a sex trafficked teenager, and that comment was in reply to another comment.

That's a bit strong. He's a complete arrogant entitled knobber who has made appalling judgements over the years but has anyone ever suggested it was rape?

I brought up boys. None of them openly supported and were friendly with convicted sex offenders. Let alone two of them! In most people’s eyes that wouldn’t be seen as ‘normal’ or even dysfunctional. It would be viewed as far worse.

So, would your boys by assisting the police in investigating alleged sexual abuse by someone they know be accused of knowingly supporting and being friendly with an accused sex offender?

Because posters claiming King Charles consorted with Peter Ball are basing it on this:
The IICSA was investigating the Peter Ball case in 2018, and asked King Charles III (then Prince of Wales), and his principal private secretary to give witness statements about Ball, for a hearing starting on 23 July 2018. Charles, who had been in correspondence with Ball, indicated his willingness to assist.

I really don’t think helping the police catch and convict a sex offender is supporting and helping said sex offender…..

babsanderson · 16/01/2023 16:18

Sex with a trafficked teenager is rape, both morally and legally.

OP posts:
babsanderson · 16/01/2023 16:24

Just two months before Epstein's arrest, an independent review of the Ball case was published, and criticized Charles for his "misguided" relationship with the serial sex-abuser.

In August 1994, Prince Charles sent his private secretary to Lambeth Palace to inquire about Ball's status to the archbishop's top aide.

When he learned that Ball had still not been cleared to return to ministry in February 1995, he wrote to Ball saying "I wish I could do more."
"I feel so desperately strongly about the monstrous wrongs that have been done to you and the way you have been treated. It's appalling that the archbishop has gone back on what he told me, before Xmas, that he was hoping to restore you to some kind of ministry in the church. I suspect you are absolutely right — it is due to fear of the media," Charles wrote, in one of the many letters exchanged during their two-decade correspondence.
He even bought Ball a house to live in, using the Duchy of Cornwall to purchase the property and then renting it out to Ball and his twin brother from 1995 to 2011.

Well pedophiles aren’t exactly out and proud…they mask and hide. The article says Ball preached at Sandringham in the 1980s…I doubt the then thirty something year old would have been appointing Ball to anything, that would have been his mothers choice. And since allegations and police caution didn’t emerge until 1992, not sure why you are making much of this. Most people are fooled by pedophiles, they don’t exactly operate in plain sight.

”Prince Charles submitted a letter to the inquiry saying he had been deceived for a long time "about the true nature" of Ball, and denied trying to influence the outcome of the investigation.”

Sex with a trafficked teenager is rape, both morally and legally.

Only if you know they are trafficked and they are below the age of consent. That’s not the case with Prince Andrew & Virginia Guiffre.

babsanderson · 16/01/2023 16:25

@Onnabugeisha That is seriously beyond the pale. Lying that Charles support of a convicted paedophile was based on that.
I have seen some rubbish on MN but that is morally disgusting. I am shocked anyone would sink that low.
