The royal family

The Royal Family is incredibly dysfunctional

They are an incredibly dysfunctional family with lots of internal rivalries, poor parenting and a strange culture of stay silent and we will protect you from actual crimes, but speak out and we will destroy you.
They really are a mess and I suspect they are so dysfunctional, they do not realise just how messed up the family dynamics are.
But maybe such a dysfunctional family is inevitable within a hereditary monarchy where your accident of birth means you have access to more money and power than your siblings and other close relatives?

Po faced? I find people with alcohol issues often insult those who point them out.

MissMarpleRocks · 17/01/2023 13:32

I don’t have any alcohol issues actually as I’m not allowed to drink really due to medication. I just don’t think everyone who likes a drink or two is a raving alcoholic. Says more about you than me I think.

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 13:34

@MissMarpleRocks I did not say that makes someone a raving alcoholic. It does make them a heavy drinker.

OP posts:
Ohnonevermind · 17/01/2023 13:36

@babsanderson

why don’t you go and look at the NHS alcohol consumption guidelines

one drink per 7 days is far better than 7 drinks on one day too I believe

MissMarpleRocks · 17/01/2023 13:38

You know full well you implied I had issues with alcohol.

As I said due to medication I have to be careful as my meds affect my liver & kidneys so I’d be mad to risk that for a glass or 2 of wine or gin. Luckily I quite like Seedlip garden & that keeps me happy. I draw the line at low alcohol wine though 🤢

barnbaby · 17/01/2023 13:47

King Charles spoke very emotionally about how his mum was a cold parent and how he was physically abused at boarding school. He has to live with unbelievable stress as a royal and with the guilt of the damage he caused to his ex wife and his sons. Functional alcoholism isn't about enjoying a few drinks, its about routinely using alcohol as a medicine to blot out the difficult emotions that the user can't deal with.

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 13:52

@Ohnonevermind He has plenty of days where he has more than 1 drink a day. Just like the Queen and the Queen Mother. The whole family has a history of everyday drinking.

And how exactly do you know this? I really hope you don’t go around talking this utter shit about people in your day to day life because if you do it’s really going to bite you hard one day.

My mum used to enjoy a glass of Sherry every day. She was never a “functioning alcoholic “. It may well have been a generational thing and my well be with KC. You have no idea how many units of alcohol he drinks per day, or that he uses it as a coping mechanism for anything at all. He may well just enjoy it or not is part of his routine. You have no clue that you are right, nor do I.

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 14:04

@Blossomtoes I have posted evidence on the thread about the Queen Mother's alcohol consumption and Charles alcohol consumption. The Queen Mother was quite open about how much she drank.

The Queen.

Many people who regularly have 2 or 3 drinks a day or more every day see no harm with this. They are wrong.

OP posts:
Inkanta · 17/01/2023 14:11

It's recommended to drink no more than 14 units of alcohol a week, spread across 3 days or more. That's around 6 medium (175ml) glasses of wine, or 6 pints of 4% beer

That seems to be the NHS recommendation currently.

barnbaby · 17/01/2023 14:12

@smilesy as I said, functional alcoholics don't 'enjoy' alcohol like your mum did, they use it as a medicine to numb painful emotions. If you sit through an AA or AlAnon meeting and hear how recovering alcoholics felt about their alcohol use the word 'enjoy' doesn't come up much at all.
The children of alcoholics often struggle with life in ways very similar to Harry. And don't forget his poor mother was driven to prescription drug addiction and eating disorders by being the victim of a scurrilous campaign to provide KC with a virgin (Camilla used to call her 'The Mouse' when the plan was being formulated, so they were well aware of how vulnerable she was.) Having two addicted parents was going to be too much for most young children even before one of his parents died very young.

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 14:12

Yes 2 small glasses of wine for 3 days in a 7 day week. So 4 days with zero alcohol in your scenario.

I have provided evidence that he drinks alcohol every day and more than one drink on many occasions.

Hilarious

Blossomtoes · 17/01/2023 14:19

Please forgive me if I don’t take the alcohol consumption of a woman who’s been dead 20 years as compelling evidence of her grandson’s drinking habits @babsanderson. The bottom line is that you’re spreading scurrilous gossip and attempting to present it as fact. You should be ashamed of yourself.

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 14:21

I have posted links of Charles drinking habits. I said there is a culture of heavy alcohol consumption in the Royal Family and posted links of this. So I would not be surprised to know that he thinks what he drinks is a normal amount.

No you haven’t. You’ve posted links that show the Queen Mother liked a drink. That’s got nothing to do with the culture. It’s one woman.

barnbaby · 17/01/2023 14:30

I know someone who worked for KC for over 15 years. After he left he spoke about his very heavy drinking and how it made him angry and how he would sometimes take it out on his staff, shouting loudly and throwing things around the room. I am not going to give you this person's name so you can either decide to think there might be some truth in it, or not. I can see why you wouldn't this being an anonymous site, but I am not going to disclose the employee's name so I can't give you anymore to go on. In the world of royal staff, this is a known thing.

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 14:31

I posted links of the Queen Mothers drinking habits, the Queens and Charles drinking habits - not all on the same post.
I think there is a clear culture in the family of regular every day alcohol drinking. You may dispute that amounts to a family culture though, I understand that.

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 14:32

@barnbaby There are rumours like this all over the internet. I think it is true. By his own admission he drinks alcohol every single day and he has the physical appearance of a drinker.

OP posts:
barnbaby · 17/01/2023 14:40

@babsanderson one thing you find with many functional alcoholics is that they grew up in a home where it was an accepted way of dealing with problems. KC was very close to his grandmother who he revered, so he would have grown up thinking that very heavy alcohol use was entirely normal. The problem is that even where it doesn't affect the user physically, it always affects them (and their family) emotionally. Hearing the testaments of children of alcoholics is one of the most emotional things I have ever heard, and they can come from such different backgrounds and homes, but their stories always have so much in common.

Rumours. You think. In other words, not fact. You have absolutely no idea if he is a heavy drinker or not. You just like to imply it because you constantly bash the RF.

@Leemoe

I appreciate your comment

I am not attempting to convert royalist posters . They are mostly a lost cause. But I grab 5 mins here and there to correct the garbage royalists regurgitate after being forcefed propaganda by MSM

Sorry for horrible image but the Saville / Mountbatten / Epstein issue is one I won't stop raising until the truth is out
