The royal family

The Royal Family is incredibly dysfunctional

They are an incredibly dysfunctional family with lots of internal rivalries, poor parenting and a strange culture of stay silent and we will protect you from actual crimes, but speak out and we will destroy you.
They really are a mess and I suspect they are so dysfunctional, they do not realise just how messed up the family dynamics are.
But maybe such a dysfunctional family is inevitable within a hereditary monarchy where your accident of birth means you have access to more money and power than your siblings and other close relatives?

Yes, well this great lengths Carey went to reinstate Ball are relevant to King Charles role because King Charles was told by Archbishop Carey on more than one occasion that there was nothing wrong with Peter Ball and the fact that within 6mos of Ball’s resignation, the Archbishop allowed Ball to celebrate communion in Charles’ diocese were sending unequivocal messages from the principal leader of the entire CoE to King Charles that Ball’s lies were true.

You castigate King Charles for his stupidity in falling for Ball, but really he fell for Archbishop’ Carey’s defence and campaign to return Ball to ministry. If you can’t trust the Archbishop of Canterbury to tell you the truth about a bishop, who can you trust? Definitely not the media…

I questioned whether Charles was stupid or knowingly complicit. He knew Peter Ball had been cautioned and Ball made an excuse to Charles about this, an excuse Charles accepted. He was also good friends with Jimmy Saville and will have been warned by his security services about him.

So stupid or knowingly complicit?

So the top link is from a gossip site. The second is a puff piece to publicise a Belfast distillery and the other two are about his rosacea. Unless you believe that all rosacea sufferers are alcoholics, they’re meaningless.

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 12:53

Not everyone with rosacea is a heavy drinker, but it is a common cause.

I do not say he is an alcoholic, I say he is a heavy drinker.

And even papers that promote the Royal Family say Charles drinks a martini every single day. We also know he is an "ardent gin drinker" and drinks other alcoholic drinks.

@Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious There are many many press reports of his drinking, his rosacea and swollen hands and fingers all lead to me saying this.

So you have only found gossip sites and are now talking about certain aspects of how he physically looks to say he's a heavy drinker. so really, you have nothing.

You pretty much agreed with another poster who said he was a “functioning alcoholic “!

jeffgoldblum · 17/01/2023 12:57

A martini every day ? And gin ? Are you saying kc is actually 007 !
Oh my god ! It all makes sense now!

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 12:59

The Royal Family has a culture of heavy drinking.

"In 2006, her former equerry, Major Colin Burgess, published the book titled "Behind Palace Doors," in which he described the Queen Mother's approach to alcohol (via The Guardian). According to his account, she would order her first cocktail of the day around noon. Her poison of choice was reportedly a cocktail that consisted of two parts Dubonnet and one part gin.

"The author explained that guests who ordered water at lunchtime would be met with shock. "How can you not have wine with your meal," the Queen Mother would ask."

@jeffgoldblum I knew you would respond by implying everyone drinks lots of alcohol every day.

My friend worked in a very large drinks company in their lab but she was on the tasting team too so had to do quality control tasting tests and new product tasting tests in the mornings. They also had a number of non drinkers in the team too (they used to spit out the drinks)

One drink isn't lots of alcohol a day. And it certainly doesn't make someone an alcoholic

Blossomtoes · 17/01/2023 13:01

One woman whose alcohol use is legendary represents a culture now? A woman who’s been dead for 20 years and who lived to be 102. The barrel scraping here would be hilarious if it wasn’t so scurrilous.

Nope , I've not implied anything, I thought we were all just posted any old made up stuff we fancied.

That certainly seems to be the case on this thread.

jeffgoldblum · 17/01/2023 13:04

Indeed! Also not reading posts properly or recognising a joke!

jeffgoldblum · 17/01/2023 13:05

@Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious , yes I thought we all were! 😉

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 13:05

I post quotes and links.

So ignore if you want Charles role in supporting his friend Peter Ball who is a paedophile if you want. Or that he was good friends with Jimmy Saville who gave him and Diana marriage guidance advice. Or that Charles clearly does not follow NHS guidelines for alcohol consumption and has a very unhealthy appearance. I have provided evidence though.

Blossomtoes · 17/01/2023 13:13

You’ve provided zilch evidence of the King’s alcohol use. People in their 70s often have an unhealthy appearance, it’s an unfortunate side effect of age.

babsanderson · 17/01/2023 13:15

I have provided evidence that he drinks alcohol every day and more than one drink on many occasions.

Blossomtoes · 17/01/2023 13:20

You haven’t.

Ohnonevermind · 17/01/2023 13:26

@babsanderson

that’s not evidence of alcohol dependence or alcoholism.

So?

My Nan had a g&t every day & a one or two of glasses of wine with dinner. She lived till she was 93. Having a bit of what you fancy is good for you. I’d rather be like her than the po faced people who say must be an alcoholic because you enjoy a drink or two or three!
