Shocked to see in this mornings Telegraph that Harry is concerned for the other "spares" He just wants to break the bad parenting pattern and stop it happening to Charlotte or George. If I was W&K I would be absolutely LIVID by now. What does anyone else think?

@oohokay, oh I agree with you too. There's so much at play here. I'm on the cusp of being anti royal, but more that I just don't give a f.
I do believe that each generation has some work to do to fix problems from the generation or two previous, but you're right, the prince's kids have so much more to deal with.

What I don't understand is why Harry isn't allowed a memoir. They're pretty common in the world of rich, famous and/or influential. Why are other memoirs ok for people to spill their guts and yet Harry is bashed for telling his story?

Does a memoir need to attack people for fairly normal things e.g. who was upset in some sort of spat between a bride and a newly delivered mother - hardly headline stuff is it.

The thing I found most distasteful was how he wrote about the matron at Ludgrove, being a little shit at 13 and acknowledging it is fine shame he didn't seem sorry about it, describing her as he did was really unpleasant and unnecessary.

ParanoidJo · 14/01/2023 14:17

Harry and Co know the tables have turned and so he had to appear slightly altruistic saving the all the other spares. How kind of him. So bitter and jealous of his big bro. This is sibling rivalry amplified to the max. I was never very concerned about the royals particularly but have a new respect for W&K keeping a dignified silence.

toomuchlaundry · 14/01/2023 14:18

Problem with Harry's memoir is that the RF won't be able to refute the allegations he has made in the book. The lady like the matron in school won't feel able to respond.

If a celebrity writes a book and casts aspersions on other celebrities they will just respond by giving their version

toomuchlaundry · 14/01/2023 14:22

Harry's memoir is a bit like keyboard warrior parents who go on social media and slag off their local school, sometimes naming members of staff. Which then results in other people joining in. Schools are always advised not to get involved in these arguments, so like Harry these people can say what they like knowing that there will be no right to reply

He was "The Spare" for a long time but maybe he has forgotten that he is a long way down the list now along with his odious uncle who was also "The Spare" in his time.

Patineur · 14/01/2023 14:27

What jurisdiction does he even think he has over William's children? Until they grow up he can't so much as talk to them without their parents' permission, and given the potential for anything the children say to be misrepresented I can't see W and K encouraging it.

In any event, he is likely to have his hands full with his own children, who face the prospect of growing up with all their schoolmates knowing how their father lost his virginity and how he used to rub his mother's face cream into his penis whilst thinking of her. That'll take some expensive therapy to cope with.

The only thing I can think of is the possibility of both Charles and William passing away when George is still under 18 - and the possibility of Harry becoming regent. Shudder.

Or Zara, they had their wedding in Edinburgh and for a royal wedding it was relatively low-key.

Or Princess Anne's second wedding where they all turned up at the little church near Balmoral in Landrovers (including the Queen and Queen Mother)

I mean Anne could be very "woe is me" - pushed down the line of succession for not being a boy and then not allowed to marry her current husband in a Church of England church .... but she keeps whatever thoughts she has where they belong - private!

I think Kate would be Regent in those circumstances. Fingers crossed 🤞

No he doesn't.
Anne manages her own engagement diary.

🤦‍♀️ Yes and Charles controls Williams. So if William doesn’t do many it’s down to Charles.

Thesealsknowsheismagic · 14/01/2023 07:46

Yes he did. Whilst living outside the country, visiting her for a very short time (maybe an hour) and then leaving pretty soon after.

He is like those relatives who never help care for their elderly relative, then turns up every so often and tells the ones doing the caring how they are doing everything wrong.

Accentuated by the fact that they tried to bring a photographer to at least one of their brief meetings with the Queen

He doesn’t. William’s private office controls his diary.

The cream that he says Diana used on her lips 😳 Her lips. The cream he puts on his penis. While thinking of her.

He is mentally disturbed, unstable, gross, and ick. I don’t think he is fit to parent children, his own or anybody else’s.

More emotional deflection rubbish designed to make his behaviour more "palatable", especially to himself. 🙄🤥

He never wanted to be King. I saw a short interview with him years ago, long before M, and when asked if he would have liked to be King he burst out laughing - a genuine laugh - and said 'no, absolutely not'. Liked him from that moment as he seemed so 'real' and down to earth.

I might be misremembering but I think an act was passed when Charles was young which would have made Philip regent in the event of the Queen dying rather than Margaret . I'd be bloody surprised if they aren't considering whether a similar act for William's children, or don't if Charles passes before they reach adulthood

I think Harry forgets how bloody minded children are, and inclined to do the polar opposite of what their parents wish, as they grow up.
The more he paints their UK family as 'dangerous', the more intriguing they may seem to Archie & Lili. Instead of worrying about W&K's children, he'd do well to consider how trying to destroy the RF in such a public way may actually push his own children towards them. Grass is always greener, and all that.

You are right on the money. Also, do you all remember at the beginning when Harry attended an event and was seated next to Rose? Meghan was told she couldn’t attend with Harry, this was in early days of relationship. It was reported at the time and there was a picture of Harry sitting next to Rose that was in all the papers. I bet Meghan was very angry and the rumor happened after that. I think she is the source of the rumor.

There was a rumour going around that they’d fallen out the Beckhams because he had accused Victoria of leaking something about Meghan, and David told him to basically fuck off.
All unverified of course.

I can’t imagine VB leaking tbh. Especially about them, it’s not like they really have anything to do with each other? It comes across as pure paranoia

I think it’s more likely that the leak is from their own camp. We know Meghan has planted at least one story early on, regarding Kate not offering her a lift to go shopping together.

Maybe it’s one of her friends? She tells them things, and they repeat it?

When people would call him unhinged I thought they were going too far, but to include this in a book knowing now millions of people have had the image in their head of him rubbing cream on his penis thinking of his Mum 😫 he’s beyond help.

You may well ask. Hard as they search none of the posters who keep pushing this rumour can provide a shred of evidence.

My friend lives in Finland and it was all over the tabloids over there, here it was just hinted at by the press about the “falling out” with Rose

He seems to forget that Anne, Andrew and Edward were spares and they were all happy enough, two of them still very happy and seemingly well adjusted, the third’s lack of happiness now having nothing to do with feeling hard done by as a spare.
The fact that Harry is not happy about it has more to do with his character and not helped by being the only spare in his family, although that wouldn’t matter to someone with a better character.
