Can someone explain how TKMaxx "90% off" as they have at times advertised, isn't them doing a sale?

It's a sale ffs.

What is upsetting is that H&M obviously think it’s awful to buy things in a sale, just as it’s terrible to buy stuff at IKEA. They don’t want to be driven to the extremes of , well, poor people ( or most people who quite like a bargain).

Im not surprised that retailers are queuing up to disassociate themselves, who wants to be mentioned as some sort of pitiful last resort?

CuntyChopss · 13/01/2023 17:22

You need to get a fucking life pet

Serenster · 13/01/2023 17:24

babsanderson · 13/01/2023 17:07

@Serenster I know it is code shares, I said this earlier on the thread. It is an Air New Zealand flight, although not on a plane owned by Air New Zealand. Extremely common.

No, you have misunderstood my point.

You can only travel on one of those “Air New Zealand” flights you linked to if you are connecting in either Houston or San Francisco to an Air New Zealand flight to Auckland (the only places in the US that Air New Zealand actually flies to).

To take the first example in that list. flight NZ9947 from Mexico City to Houston, as the entry below clarifies, it’s actually operated by United. It is only codeshared for Air New Zealand if you buy a ticket on it as a feeder flight to get you to Houston to connect with your flight to Auckland. If you buy it to connect to a flight to any other destination, or even just to get to Houston as your end destination, it won’t be as NZ 9947. It will be either as a United Flight, or whichever airline partner United also codeshared for.

they haven’t flown from Los Angeles to London since 2013.

Simply NOT true. They stopped in 2020.

Well done Air New Zealand calling out the liars🤣
Serenster · 13/01/2023 17:27

Meg said: 'We might be able to kill this story, Daddy, but if it turns out you’re lying, we’ll never be able to kill a false story about ourselves, or our children, again. So this is serious. You must tell us the truth.'

Hmmm, so in this conversation, Meghan understands how the Press Office works. Something she totally forgot, it seems, when she was insistent the Press Office later stop negative stories, even when they were true.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 13/01/2023 17:27

they haven’t flown from Los Angeles to London since 2013.

Simply NOT true. They stopped in 2020.

So the lie they have never flown to the United States is shown to be false, and now the lie they have never flown to Los Angeles is shown to be false.

The only inconsistency is that Harry said First Class instead of Premier Business Class. Big deal.

notanotheroneagain · 13/01/2023 17:32

I swear nowadays, 'journalism' means : you just call the airline and ask them, "do you have flights out from Rosario to the Heathrow?"
Airline goes "no"

That's it ! That is all I need to know !

Furiously write an article debunking H story.

No background about how far the small airport is, domestic flights etc. No mention or checks if TM was going to be flown to LA etc. (though you know very well that MM said in court that a suite was booked for him in USA, you could at least check that). Nothing, Nada !

That Ladies and Gents, is UK tabloid 'journalism' ! 😂😂

Well done Air New Zealand calling out the liars🤣
Countdown2023 · 13/01/2023 17:35

Maybe we should call them ‘a fuzzy mis writing’ like misspoke

His book could be subtitled ‘recollections may vary’

notimagain · 13/01/2023 17:35

FWIW 2017 review NZ2

"Route: AKL (Auckland) -> LHR (London) via LAX (Los Angeles)
....
Flight Duration: 12h 00m AKL to LAX and 10hr 30m from LAX to LHR

Serenster · 13/01/2023 17:39

So the lie they have never flown to the United States is shown to be false, and now the lie they have never flown to Los Angeles is shown to be false.

Apologies, I was clearly having a Prince Harry false memory about this! 🤣

The reason is so adamant is because I have a friend who is an Air New Zealand pilot. He used to fly to London, a lot, until 2013 when they axed his route. I would have absolutely sworn in was the LA-London route he flew, but google tells me it must have been the Hong Kong to London route that Air New Zealand did axe in 2013. So, apologies! ☺️ (It wasn’t me who said they’ve never flown to the US or Los Angeles though, I know they have)

(so yes, he could have booked an Air New Zealand flight from LA to London in 2018. And no, they don’t have first class, but as you say, potato potahto…)

DewinDwl · 13/01/2023 17:44

Actually if anything this makes Air New Zealand look weird and petty

Anyway are you sure you are all right OP?

babsanderson · 13/01/2023 17:45

I agree it does make Air New Zealand look very petty and strange.

bakalava · 13/01/2023 17:58

The airline wouldn't have tweeted twice about it without doing a five minute check to see if a ticket was ever booked for TM, even indirectly. They know it is a crock of 💩 which is why they don't mind having a laugh about it online.

Youwhatnowbiggles · 13/01/2023 18:05

“Complete truth”??🤣😂🤣 Seriously, I think we need to improve the effective analysis of evidence part of the curriculum. However, the ghostwriter is starting to come off worse here - he’s made an absolute hash of his reputation by not fact checking - or even getting the publishers to do so...there’s so much codswallop and so little professionalism in the entire debacle. Hazza won’t care - he’s getting his dosh….. but his wife, who I believe is significantly brighter than him, may care that the damage to her reputation and political ambitions may be a bit too much (whingeing yet simultaneously bragging and poorly educated - he went to Eton and still only manage a B (art) and a D - is not what generally appeals - actually makes Eton look pretty shoddy too - well, either they’re really shoddy or he was really lazy…

StarbucksSmarterSister · 13/01/2023 18:09

The airline wouldn't have tweeted twice about it without doing a five minute check to see if a ticket was ever booked for TM, even indirectly.

So much of the quibbling is about being pedantic so here we go. It doesn't say they actually made the booking, merely mentions the discussions about it. Suppose she booked a ticket then cancelled, would they have that record nearly 6 years later? If MM did book it, she'd obviously have a receipt ( literally) but wouldn't expect to have to produce it for the book.

It's not specific enough. I would write "we discussed getting a flight" or " we had booked him a flight".

bakalava · 13/01/2023 18:11

Yes the airline would know.

DewinDwl · 13/01/2023 18:17

Just been on twitter. I don't think this tweet by Air New Zealand got the response the airline expected. Perhaps it wasn't the cleverest move.

ScribblingPixie · 13/01/2023 19:27

7,500 likes on Twitter and 1,500 comments the majority of which I read thought it was funny. Tons of publicity. It wasn't a terrible move, was it?

DewinDwl · 13/01/2023 19:43

The reactions I read on twitter were very mixed:

Funny
Good for exposing liars
Unprofessional
Tacky
Rude
Disappointing
Unwise to get involved in a polarising subject
H&M are correct and it's weird to pick on the whole "business / premier thing". Details of the flights / connection as discussed on this thread
Wrong to jump on the hatred bandwagon for the sake of a few clicks when the company is well aware there is no lie
Stick to improving your customer service / punctuality / luggage record
Etc.

So a bit like this thread.

I have to thank the OP for bringing this non-controversy to my attention - overall it's the airline that's come out of this looking bad IMO.
