Agreed. Someone is combing this book for tiny tiny discrepancies.
This does not point to them lying. I think they were telling the t6ruth.

Yes, that part is minor compared to claiming to fly on a route that the airline does not offer

And that it's on top of other easily checkable errors

It's not one little thing.

It's a whacking great pattern

Maxmin · 13/01/2023 10:59

Shaking my head. Same with TK Maxx. He said Sales but they do Clearance. What’s the difference? How many people say “clearance”. I call it sales too.

People with a bit of thinking skills spot this Media nonsense. They are simply proving Harry right with this unhinged hysterical going ons.

I still can’t get my head around how people can’t see that the media is still doing everything he said they were guilty of doing to him.

Here's what's said in the book:

We immediately phoned Meg’s dad, told him what was coming. We asked if it was true. Had he staged a bunch of candid photos for money?

No.

Meg said: 'We might be able to kill this story, Daddy, but if it turns out you’re lying, we’ll never be able to kill a false story about ourselves, or our children, again. So this is serious. You must tell us the truth.'

He swore that he’d never staged any photos, that he hadn’t taken part in any such charade, that he didn’t know the pap in question.

Meg whispered to me: 'I believe him.'

In that case, we told him, leave Mexico right now: A whole new level of harassment is about to rain down on you, so come to Britain. Now. We’ll arrange for an apartment where you can hole up safely until your flight. Air New Zealand, first class, booked and paid for by Meg. We would immediately send a car with private security to pick him up.

He said he had things to do. Now Meg’s face changed. Something was up. She turned to me again and sighed: 'He’s lying.' "

I understand that Air New Zealand is was widely used by LA-based celebrities wanting more privacy than they could count on from US-based airlines. Given that this offer was made and never carried through - why is it hard to believe that Meghan offered this, and perhaps never knew if it would work or not, because she never went forward to book the flight?

I don't think this was a smart move by ANZ.

Can someone link the TK Maxx accusations? I don't find them in the link from the OP. Thanks.

But AirNZ don't even fly between Mexico and US!

They do although they use code sharing. The flights are still labelled Air New Zealand.

Hold on, I thought Harry was skint, maybe he should have gone for cattle class seats and bought himself a new sofa.

Scroll up to the excerpt I posted from the book (I think our posts likely crossed): "flights paid for by Meg".

"Another inconsistency with the account is that the airline does not offer direct connections between Mexico and the UK. There is a possibility that Thomas took a separate airline to the US from Mexico. Once in the US, he would have been able to take an Air New Zealand flight to the UK. Another possibility is that the author somehow got Air New Zealand mixed up with another airline."

So he could have been right all along... :-)

Does anyone else suspect that there might be a few stooges operating on here today?

Serenster · 13/01/2023 16:43

Glitteratitar · 13/01/2023 11:25

Airlines do code share. I regularly see American Airlines flights between Scotland and London on the screen at the airport, but it’s not an American Airlines plane.

This is getting ridiculous.

Air New Zealand only codeshare flights to destinations they themselves fly to. And they haven’t flown from Los Angeles to London since 2013.

So, if you book Air New Zealand to travel from Auckland to London, you book on flight NZ1. The first leg to Los Angeles will be operated by Air New Zealand. At Los Angeles you transfer onto a Virgin plane codesharing as “NZ1” for the people who travelled from Auckland. For everyone else, it’s a Virgin flight.

The flight is not codeshared though if you just buy a flight from Los Angeles to London. Because you actually can’t buy that flight from Air New Zealand, as they don’t operate or sell it.

TL;DR - they did not buy an Air New Zealand flight, even a codeshared one, that started in Mexico and landed in London.

Serenster · 13/01/2023 16:46

Sirius3030 · 13/01/2023 16:33

So he could have been right all along... :-)

All of those flights (to Houston and San Francisco) are Air New Zealand code shares only because you can fly to Auckland on an actual Air New Zealand plane from Houston and San Francisco. If you are connecting to anywhere else in the world, you won’t be using that NZ designation.

YouJustDoYou · 13/01/2023 16:56

No one can trust a word this pair of proven liars say.

notanotheroneagain · 13/01/2023 16:59

Glitteratitar · 13/01/2023 11:28

Or maybe they booked a connecting flight which involved Air NZ. Just because it doesn’t contain the full details doesn’t mean it’s nonsense.

Exactly.

Rosario does not even have an airport.

Meaning he has to go somewhere else to catch a flight .

babsanderson · 13/01/2023 17:01

Air NZ does fly Mexico to US.

Serenster · 13/01/2023 17:04

babsanderson · 13/01/2023 17:01

Sigh. I repeat:

All of those flights (to Houston and San Francisco) are Air New Zealand code shares only because you can fly to Auckland on an actual Air New Zealand plane from Houston and San Francisco. If your flight is connecting to another plane going somewhere else in the world, you won’t be using that NZ designation.

And Air New Zealand has not flown from Los Angeles to London for a decade now.

babsanderson · 13/01/2023 17:06

@notanotheroneagain Rosario has an airport 2 miles away, although not a major one. It is normal to take internal flights to a major airport for an international flight.

babsanderson · 13/01/2023 17:07

@Serenster I know it is code shares, I said this earlier on the thread. It is an Air New Zealand flight, although not on a plane owned by Air New Zealand. Extremely common.

BabyFour2023 · 13/01/2023 17:10

pairofrollerskates · 13/01/2023 10:56

FFS! So he said "First Class" instead of "Premier Business Class" - how is that a big deal? Give the guy a break!

Harry said he booked a flight from Mexico to UK. They don’t do any Mexico to UK flights 😂😂😂 it’s hardly just the fact he’s used the wrong words.

So they had to make a phone call unexpectedly and make a sudden offer without doing full research not to know there wasn’t a flight.

Not sure that’s quite the win some of the trolls want it to be. If anything they’re just proving Harry point

PinkFrogss · 13/01/2023 17:14

BabyFour2023 · 13/01/2023 17:10

Harry said he booked a flight from Mexico to UK. They don’t do any Mexico to UK flights 😂😂😂 it’s hardly just the fact he’s used the wrong words.

It doesn’t sound like they did book it, just that they offered to last minute without a chance to look. If what PP quoted above is true and unedited then at no point did they claim to have booked a flight

StarbucksSmarterSister · 13/01/2023 17:14

Exactly, ANZ don't have the traffic rights to fly passengers between the two countries, AFAIK never have done....

They're part of Star Allianz. The connecting flight would be a code share with any other member, some of whom did/do fly LAX to Mexico. Or he could have driven to San Diego or LAX, which would be easy enough.

ThighMistress · 13/01/2023 17:15

Wait a minute, Meghan said “We can kill this story” ? Who is briefing the press now then? Hmm

notimagain · 13/01/2023 17:15

Serenster · 13/01/2023 16:46

I think we a time machine TBH to see what code share agreements were in place etc.

That said if the plan was to fly Mexico City to London none stop then one obvious option was BA, who at the time were operating a daily 747 MEX-LHR that did have First Class.

AeroMexico may have had similar, can't remember.

Air New Zealand operated flight MEX-LHR simply no.

OTOH another slightly roundabout option would have been Mexico ( from several airports) to LAX to connect with the eastbound NZ 2 LAX-LHR which I think was still operating at the time ...but as Air NZ say no First Class.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 13/01/2023 17:17

Can someone explain how TKMaxx "90% off" as they have at times advertised, isn't them doing a sale?

It's a sale ffs.

Just a few, yes. This whole - especially from the tabloids - operation against Prince Harry has been fascinating to watch.
