Meghan's credit card

Are we all going to sidestep the fact that 'gold digger' Meghan was paying for everything.
'we don't have money for her'

She was paying for heaters, lights and sofas. You name it.
All the while we are being fed that she is a 'gold digger' who has come into a privileged family.

I can’t see your point. I put everything I spend on my credit card and pay it off every month. Obviously I could afford to buy a cup of coffee “outright”, I just choose not to.

Are you a millionaire?

Blossomtoes · 13/01/2023 13:12

What’s that got to do with anything?

Serenster · 13/01/2023 13:12

LaBrujaPiruja · 13/01/2023 12:58

Even if that is correct (I don’t believe it as I have worked in the industry), didn’t she had any expenses over the years? Didn’t she pay any tax?
Half a million being generous.

She definitely had to pay her agent and her publicists - we know she worked with Sunshine Sachs before she moved tot he UK, and UK agencies too. They generally take a cut of your pay for the role they have secured for you (10% being generally quoted as the going rate) With tax and those fees, that must be close to 40% of her stated salary per episode, if accurate.

Because he is making it out to be that they were paupers and forced to put furniture on her credit card. As if they didn’t have money to buy it outright.
He makes a point of saying it was put on her credit card. Not that she bought it.

Are you a multi millionaire royal and/ or actress?
You think she’s concerned about the ability to return a £10 lamp?

Lots of people use CC for big purchases or even lamps and I think CC spending is normal in the US so being American it's probably what she's used to.

GrinAndVomit · 13/01/2023 13:15

Do you genuinely not see the difference between saying

“I bought my own sofa”

and

”I had to put the sofa on my credit card”
?

Yeah. PR and a good sob story.

I'd always put a big purchase on a credit card even when we can buy outright because it's less hassle if there's something wrong. It takes effort to dump a sofa if it's wrong.

Well, that’s my point. You don’t mention you bought something on credit unless you want to highlight that it was unaffordable otherwise.

”having to put it on card” implies a narrative of poverty that I don’t believe to be truthful.

Sweetpeasaremadeforbees · 13/01/2023 13:39

didn't he donate 2m from the book profits to charities? that doesn't sound like the actions of a tightwad.

Was that from his advance? Because I'm not sure what you mean by profits? I doubt there have been any calculated yet.

He was only in for ten years and any pension would be based on a captain’s pay. In royal terms it’s small change. In normal people’s terms it wouldn’t be enough to live on.

You don't get any pension until at least age 55. Military pensions are defined benefit and also can't be transferred out into a defined contributions scheme (like some can) so basically the only option you have is to choose when to take it after the age of 55. The earlier you take it, the less you get as well.

ghjklo · 13/01/2023 13:40

@Sweetpeasaremadeforbees not sure but it's written in the inside cover of the book or somewhere like that how much is going where, I saw a photo somewhere on the news. So it's not made up.

You’re confusing ability to pay with method of payment. Using a credit card is just a convenient way to pay, it doesn’t mean you haven’t got the money in your bank account to pay for whatever you’re buying.

Allergictoironing · 13/01/2023 13:50

Just done a quick calculation based on a salary of £44k (current Army Captain pay) and 10 years service. At today's rates, 10 years service would give you a little over £6k pa and a tax free lump sum of a little under £19k. So not really much in the grand scheme of things!

When you put your cup of coffee on a credit card, do you tell your partner “I popped for a coffee…”
Or do you say “I had to put my coffee on credit card”?

There is a very clear implication to someone saying they “have to put something on credit card”.

I think he’s being untruthful. Some people might not infer the same as me. Some people might refuse to see what he’s implying.

He has a history of manipulative lies. Some people are refusing to acknowledge that too.

LadyVictoriaSponge · 13/01/2023 13:54

What a new low the OP has reached pushing the false narrative that the multi multi millionaire Prince Harry has no access money and that he is living in abject poverty financially abused by King Charles, OP I know you are the ultimate super fan and the Montecito duo are your Demi gods but this really is an excruciating thread, you are not doing yourself or Meghan and Harry any favours whatsoever. If you are really are concerned about their financial hardship I’m sure you can make a donation to Archewell to help them out.

I mean we can see the state the poor things are reduced to now, living in a mansion with only 16 bathrooms! Can we have a crowd fund for them?

I wondered how much polo ponies cost (given H seems to have had plenty of them - apparently you need two for low level games but at higher levels you need eight), and have disappeared into another world 😁

Anything from £5,000 to £60,000 here www.cscpolo.com/polo-ponies-for-sale

Perhaps he could have sold one to cover the costs of a sofa?

One of the most exspensive equestrian pursuits. I wonder who pays livery, feed bills , farrier and vets too

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 13/01/2023 14:30

Why would his father or grandmother pay to furnish a house that was, presumably since Harry hasn’t mentioned sitting or sleeping on the floor, already furnished and was only going to be a very short term home for them both while they decided which of the apartments on offer they’d take?

Archewell is really well managed and successful of course.

Who is in charge of running it again? The bloke and his wife who despite their finances are only able to get an IKEA sofa...

Funny coincidence that

Applesonthelawn · 13/01/2023 14:39

Anyone agreeing to live in Nott Cott does because it's got that quaint, old fashioned feel which many people love. He was perfectly happy about it until Meghan came along because he would otherwise have had somewhere else. When she came along and it was too small for them, they were given an alternative, lucky them. I thought it was tone deaf and tacky the way Oprah and she poked fun at it ("no-one would believe it").

Given the holes and skewed perspective in a lot of Harry's narrative, I'm not sure you can believe anything about buying sofas.

simplefree · 13/01/2023 14:51

I just wanted to see their faces if they had to spend a few hours in my 2 bedroom council flat in my council estate🤓

Untrue. The money was split and 2.3 million per year is correct, paid for houses, expenses, travel etc was and is perfectly normal.

This does not sound correct. After H&M left, it is still over 4M on the budget, just for Cambridge and 'miscellaneous'.
