What job should Harry have?

Harry's family security reportedly costs £3 million a year. So I just wonder all those saying he should earn his money by getting a job - what kind of job do you think he should get?

OP posts:

He's not qualified for any job which pays anything like that but if he was willing to live the life of an ordinary millionaire he could afford a lifestyle beyond most people's dreams from interest off investments, public speaking, product endorsement and all the shit other vacuous celebs support themselves with.

I can just see him saying 'I can't believe it's not butter'.

I DO think that members of the RF should have some kind of career, especially 'spares', but also something that is non controversial, just in case they become the heir (George V and George VI were both 'Spares').
So, I've initially looked to see what other members of the RF do, or have done.
Princess Michael of Kent, was an interior designer before her marriage, and has written some history books (accused of plagiarism) - uses her Title as part of the author's name.
Fergie has also published some children's books - and I believe uses her title as the author.
Duke of Gloucester was an architect (his elder brother and father both died within a few years of each other, so he was also a 'spare').
Prince Edward's production company could have been a success, but alas he does not really have very much talent. I watched one of his TV series (abroad, and prsumably bought cheap by foreign TV). He was presenting a history prog about one of the palaces, but jumped around from Monarch to Monarch, and I thought it would make no sense unless you were British and had a vague knowledge of when each Monarch was alive.
Earl Spencer (OK, not a member of the RF, but fairly close), has also written some history books, but does NOT use his title in the name of author.
P. Eugenie worked for an art Gallery, I think.
Meghan - written a children's book, uses her title in the name of the author. Also her spotify podcast, but in my view she missed an opportunity here. She talked too much about herself and should have made more use of her guests. Of course she omitted 'baby brain', or 'wicked stepmother' stereotypes!!

If he lived a more discreet lifestyle his security wouldn't cost so much.

I'm sure he could've done some travel documentaries or "interviews with" various interesting people - leaning into to his charity contacts and military past. After dinner speeches and that sort of stuff. Radio work.

His wife is also an actress and they tend to get paid ok in Hollywood.

I'm sure many people who would've worked with them previously are having second thoughts given how freely they'll flap their beaks to the highest bidder. I wouldn't want them in my inner circle.

Personally I think he should've lived my dream and moved to Zimbabwe/South Africa with Chelsy and had a nice toffy life, doing charity work and saving wildlife.

Once upon a time I would've happily tuned in to something with his name attached, now I find all of them (royal or not) utterly repellent.

He has enough inherited wealth to live simply without working, so anything he wants to do really.

The estimate of £3 million a year for security costs is presumably disputed by his family, who probably don’t want him to die

Lockupyourbiscuits · 11/01/2023 15:31

I think he needs a job to massage his ego
Its a shame he couldn’t apply himself to rise in the Army ranks

He could fly an air ambulance or coast guard SAR helicopter.
Those jobs pay pretty well.

DanseAvecLesLoups · 11/01/2023 15:32

Graveyard shift at the Staines Shell garage.

Merrymouse · 11/01/2023 15:34

He could work on the self-service tills in Tesco or maybe work as a bin man if he likes early mornings

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 11/01/2023 15:38

Possibly a professional polo player. I think he would benefit from an externally imposed routine and keeping physically active.

IcedPurple · 11/01/2023 15:39

When they 'found freedom' 3 years ago they had a 7 figure sum in the bank, lots of popularity and great interest in what they would do next. The pandemic didn't help, obviously, but with that level of global fame, there are surely lots of things they could have done, especially as they had Sunshine Sachs on the payroll.

If they'd bought a more modest home in a less high profile town, their security bill would be much lower. They could maybe have set up some sort of 'lifestyle' brand for her, maybe someone military or outdoor related for him. As others have said, they already had enough money to lead a pretty decent lifestyle without having to really work. Fantastic position to be in. The problem is they seem to think they deserve an A list Montecito and private jets lifestyle, but they just don't have the talent to make that sustainable.

LivelyBlake · 11/01/2023 15:40

Fiction writer? He’s got experience and a vivid imagination. He can make serious money - look at Dan Brown or Jeffrey Archer.

Internetstranger · 11/01/2023 15:42

Could see Harry as a talk show host in America.

BeatriceBatchelor · 11/01/2023 15:43

SAHD
He should move back to Frogmore and devote his life to his kids and his dogs. That way he'd have security covered by Windsor Castle.

Meghan could live between LA and Windsor, getting her fame fix as and when.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 11/01/2023 15:43

Whatever he does, he should stay away from moguls and others who are more worldly than he is.

Merrymouse · 11/01/2023 15:44

He could have Harry’s job as a helicopter pilot in Anglesey.

Merrymouse · 11/01/2023 15:44

Sorry William’s job in Anglesey.

Iamacatslave · 11/01/2023 15:44

Court jester.

JaneJeffer · 11/01/2023 15:45

He could be the next Barbara Cartland

IcedPurple · 11/01/2023 15:46

He could bring out his own line of willy warmers.

Or prince proof dog bowls.

Tamarindtree · 11/01/2023 15:47

I think he would make an excellent Therapist.

You go to him with your troubles but before you can get a word in edgeways he starts banging on about how hard done by he is and you have to sit there listening to him for three hours before he sends you on your way with a CD of Meghan and the Seals greatest hits to relax to at home.

When you get home you realise that in the great scheme of things your life is so much better than that Clown and his wife and you feel so much better.

Merrymouse · 11/01/2023 15:47

Instructor at a military base - built in protection.
