Will Harry go to the Coronation

Not sure. He was asked this at the interview. He didnt give an answer either way.I got the impression he wanted an apology first or at least a discussion on his grievances. Charles has said he is invited. But several papers yesterday had articles saying he will be invited but is expected not to come. Can't really expect all this news and people not to wonder.

I also read if he goes he won't have an active role. It's usual for all the Dukes to kneel before the new monarch and swear loyalty but only William will be doing this apparently.

@Puzzledandpissedoff
" I fear it would look petty if Charles was to evict them from the only home Harry has in the UK ... "

Oh how my heart bleeds for the nasty piece of work! He's probably only keeping Froggy on for tax reasons, imo. If that is the case, he should not be afforded any benefit of that kind whatsoever in future and if it is the case, does he not think that someone so philanthropic and that's such a fabulous humanitarian, should pay his taxes, so that those on the bottom rung might have their lives improved at some stage.

Anyhoo, all that said, I thought he had another place in the Cotswolds? If not, he can do what every one else does and buy a house, or put himself on the waiting list for a council house!

As for whether he should attend or will break his neck to attend so that he can make money off it somehow the coronation. No he shouldn't! He should not be invited, or encouraged to attend in any way, shape or form and the British public should not have to pick up any bills incurred as a result of his presence!

Comedycook · 11/01/2023 20:18

My hunch is they won't be invited. Two weeks ago I think they would have been...but the past week or so has been a shocker. I don't think there's anyway back now.

feellikeanalien · 11/01/2023 20:26

I think they will stay in the States and he will do the commentary for CNN or CNBC. Now that I would listen to.😀

It will massively ramp up the stress on others if he comes.

In fact, if I were Kate, I'd be saying 'Him or me'.

I don't think Kate would say that, though. I expect her to behave with her usual dignity, whoever else is there. She may well look very serious about the proceedings, because they are serious. (If she does, some nasty creatures will feel a need to criticize her expressions unkindly.) Even if she finds any parts of it moving I doubt if she'll wobble a lip or treat us to a dewy-eyed scene.

They will be invited - that's what Charles is like.
They'll attend. As pp have said, they need to photos/footage for their brand.

They need to stick them at the back, behind a large pillar.

Return2thebasic · 12/01/2023 00:03

I never liked Charles. But for all that has happened, I deeply sympathise him and I think he does love his sons, and Henry is one of them. For someone who's gone through so much before finally becoming what he's born to be, I think he will be forgiving enough to invite H. But H should come if he still has any decency remained in his heart. But I fear not.

Return2thebasic · 12/01/2023 00:03

If they do come, make sure nobody speaks to them unless a lawyer is present...

Margot78 · 12/01/2023 00:11

He’ll presumably want to go to harvest more winge fodder for the next book.

Or even one tear out of her left eye…. 😂

I wonder if they planned it on Archie's birthday to give her an excuse not to come but create the possibility for H to turn up alone?

I don’t think he would have gone on his own on his sons birthday. I think they were hoping neither of them would go.

Yes I agree. I hope the plan works.

Viviennemary · 12/01/2023 12:57

This is the biggest royal event for 70 years. I can't think the planners would have given a thought to a 4 year old's birthday.

I think they would definitely have given a thought to the M and H problem and how they could deal with it. They'd be mad not to.

It does feel that's the thoughts behind it... So sad for the kids, as instead of standing with their family together for such a historical event, I don't know what H&M would say to them if they don't come. Would they tell them about it? If yes, how could you explain away the fact that touyare not joining in?

They’ll tell them how toxic they are and that they wouldn’t apologise.

milti · 12/01/2023 14:09

They have been told they are not welcome - it’s all over the news - thank god for that

Taken from the Daily Mail today quoting "a source" ?

I'm not sure that's enough to rely on. All sorts of commentators are spouting stuff. I think we'll just have to wait and see

A once in a lifetime state event involving several heads of state, a major military presence, a massive security operation and organised rightdown to the finest detail was planned on the basis of a 4 year old's birthday?

stormywaves · 12/01/2023 14:18

If they had a shred of decency they will not turn up. But there is a lot of PR to be had. Not sure who would talk to them though, they have had a pop at just about everyone.

I don't know. I find it harder to believe that they didn't know about the birthday and that the clash is pure coincidence. Unless of course the RF had no input in deciding the day.

Blossomtoes · 12/01/2023 14:31

I imagine the RF finds the relevance of a four year old’s birthday completely non existent. None of the other royal children’s birthdays would be taken into account.

Of course the royal family will have had input.

But the notion that such a massive, highly complex state event will have been planned around the birthday of a 4 year old whose parents aren't on speaking terms with the family seems bizarre to me.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 12/01/2023 14:32

The date will have been hard to find.

Itll have to fit in with the Abbey availability.
Other big events in London, and the wider UK.
security availability.
Religious festivals.
Commonwealth dignitaries availability.
Availability of Crown Princes and Princesses from other royal families (Kings and Queens don’t attend other coronations)

Plus major royal and world events elsewhere.

It’s not going to have been an easy date to find.
