Will Harry go to the Coronation

Not sure. He was asked this at the interview. He didnt give an answer either way.I got the impression he wanted an apology first or at least a discussion on his grievances. Charles has said he is invited. But several papers yesterday had articles saying he will be invited but is expected not to come. Can't really expect all this news and people not to wonder.

I also read if he goes he won't have an active role. It's usual for all the Dukes to kneel before the new monarch and swear loyalty but only William will be doing this apparently.

Did Charles change the ceremony so that only William has to swear allegiance to him to make it easier for Harry if he does attend?

Yes, but also to ensure Andrew is not part of the ceremonies, I would have thought.

TheRedLip · 11/01/2023 18:37

How can they possibly invite Harry when he's 99% guaranteed to do a another tell all interview or book about it? I know Harry & Meghan have millions in the bank but even millions doesn't last long when you have a penchant for £40K dresses, Hermes throws, private jets and mansions in Montecito.

They have to keep the gravy train going and their only iron in the fire is their grievance with the BRF.

Talapia · 11/01/2023 18:37

He'll be desperate to go so he can then write another book slating his family.

He will repeat this cycle of whining, book writing and expecting olive branches, until someone in the royal family say no.

Orangefir · 11/01/2023 18:44

He may very well watch on
the tv …..like EdwardVIII did in 1937

History repeating 86 years on

I don’t think there was TV in 1937 …

Orangefir · 11/01/2023 18:48

Damn it!!! You’re right!

Orangefir · 11/01/2023 18:48

I’m thinking of the queens coronation. That he watched on tv

I think they will be invited and will attend. Their link to the RF is what keeps them in the limelight- everything they talk about is framed within the context of being part of adjacent to the royal family. They need the link to survive financially and with the profile they want to have. Without the RF links they are an ex services / former actress with little of import to say (despite their belief otherwise).

Totally.

I’m far more disgusted by the fact that Camilla will be there.

Well she HAS to be you see, as she will be crowned at the same ceremony (but after the king I think) 🙄

pilates · 11/01/2023 18:53

Let’s hope not. It would be nice for Charles to have a calm and stress free coronation.

Bluekerfuffle · 11/01/2023 18:56

I don’t think they will attend. They must know there will definitely be loud booing from the crowds if they do and they cant handle anything but fawning and adoration.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 11/01/2023 18:58

He doesn't want a discussion on his 'grievances'. He wants 'accountability' (and how I am getting to hate that word) and abject grovelling apologies along the lines of 'Yes H, you were right and we were wrong. Everything the RF did from the Battle of Bosworth on has been designed to make you look bad. Mea culpa, H, mea maxima culpa. How can we make it right for you? Can we make it right, given that no man in the history of the world has suffered as you have suffered?'

Whether they come to the coronation or not they'll find something to whinge about for another couple of books. Poor Charles. Just imagine going through the ceremony with those two glowering at you and wondering if one of them will stage a fainting fit during the elevation of the crown.

The Crown

The last scene in that episode when he was playing the bagpipes in the garden afterwards, then the camera shows him from the front and his eyes are flooded with tears...........he was a massive tool and Nazi supporter but I find that scene very moving.

BreadInCaptivity · 11/01/2023 19:02

Well the RF are on a lose/lose either way.

Invite him and they risk providing more fodder for the gravy train (either inside gossip if fully included or complaints about being kept at arm's length whilst W&C in particular have a significant role).

Don't invite him and this is an example of yet another slight, regardless of the (imho perfectly reasonable reasons not to invite them).

On the flip side it's win/win for H&M.

Invited they get more "content" either way. Not invited they get "vindication" of their position.

If H&M had any integrity they'd say they weren't coming before any invitation had to be issued and stop using their titles.

I very much doubt they will however and they'll take pleasure in casting a shadow over the occasion in a further bid to make their lights shine brighter.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/01/2023 19:04

I fear it would look petty if Charles was to evict them from the only home Harry has in the UK ...

Very possibly, but I guess they could always "discover a major problem" with Frogmore - the drains perhaps - to make it unavailable at the last minute?

Doubtless someone will insist that as Charles's son he's "entitled" to come, but what he's entitled to do and what's a good idea are two different things (though I doubt Harry would begin to understand the difference)

bakalava · 11/01/2023 19:06

NONE of this would have happened if they had been given Windsor Castle 😉

Blossomtoes · 11/01/2023 19:06

It depends on how a non invitation is spun. Security services warning Harold that they can’t adequately protect his family now because of his self inflicted heightened risk and taking the decision out of the King’s hands might do it.

An excellent suggestion, Blossom, and best of all it could have the whiff of credibility.
Given some of the comments made by security service professionals, I've no doubt they'd be happy to write reports supporting such a move

IcedPurple · 11/01/2023 13:37

She mostly lives in Portugal now. When she's in Britain I think she lives in one of the KP homes, perhaps that notorious IKEA furnished dump Nott Cott?

Poor soul

Maireas · 11/01/2023 19:26

They will be invited - that's what Charles is like.
They'll attend. As pp have said, they need to photos/footage for their brand.

Swissmountains · 11/01/2023 19:38

There are a few issues now apart from the obvious one of flagrant hypocrisy.

Now he has admitted to drug use, it is possible he will have visa issues now? I imagine the US authorities will be investigating now. If he leaves the US, can he reenter given he is not an American citizen? I suspect that has a big question mark. After the Andrew debacle I hardly think they will make special allowances for an ex royal. Another wayward one.

I agree with others I feel he should be stripped of titles now and his British citizenship and communication through lawyers only. I think it has gone much too far for anything else to happen, as sad as it must be for Charles.

I do think the matter of the line of succession needs addressing. Heaven forbid some ghastly disaster overtake the entire Wales family - which would obviously be a terrible tragedy as well as a constitutional crisis. Harry is next in line after them. King Harry and Queen Meghan. I bet they'd suddenly find they rather liked the hereditary monarchy after all but I don't think many in the U.K. would be happy about that. And then further on down (not sure where) is Andrew.

I've no idea of the legal processes that are necessary to rewrite the line of succession and remove certain players but I think being a non working royal/guilty of treason ought to be a reason for removal.

Blossom
Yes excellent get out and probably quite true as well. He is a bloody security liability

Andrew would come after Lilibet in order, it's:
William
George
Charlotte
George
Harry
Archie
Lilibet
Andrew
Beatrice
Beatrice's baby
Eugenie
Eugenie's baby
Edward
James
Louise
Anne
Peter
Peter's girls
Zara
Zara's kids
After that I think it would go down through Princes Margaret's family.
