Out of curiosity as many people are airing views about her. But what is she actually like in the flesh?
I'm not a fan at all but she comes across as lovely when interviewed

Spot on !

Morgan was obsessed with her. At one point, before he deleted them, there were strings of tweets to her, about her, how wonderful she was, how lucky Harry was, what a talented actress she was, how she was a star, how she was such a nice person blah blah blah. Literally loads of them. They only met once for half an hour but he never let up with his admiration.

He was angling for a wedding invite. Didn;t get it. So no, it wasn't him realising anything. He turned on her in the nastiest most vile way. If I was his wife, I would be seriously think about leaving him because he never stops banging on about her. He has a screw loose and can't stop.

Yes, I agree, he was obsessed, both when he liked her and when he didn’t and has been like that with other people that got on his wrong side, the level he takes it to is not normal. But I don’t agree with “it wasn’t him realising anything”. He turned on her because she dumped him, one minute friendly and wanting to know him, the next cutting him off completely with no explanation.

Piers Morgan is a journalist who played his connection to Meghan and he also played the crowd. He wrote he liked Meghan. She was great and the public liked her. She ghosted him and later her popularity waned. So he wrote many increasingly hysterical articles about her to feed the appetite of an increasingly hysterical public. He is a journalist. He made money from Meghan mania.

Money was his true motive.

To some extent, yes, but he was also friendly with Trump and was singing his praises for a long time while he was less than popular, also ranting against Meghan before the public opinion turned.

Bluekerfuffle · 09/01/2023 23:58

Why do so many Meghan supporters always get a dig in at Kate when defending her (yet complain vigorously about those who don’t like Meghan)? The topic isn’t even about Kate. If it was about who had met Kate and what they thought about her there wouldn’t be that many having to add a derogatory comment about Meghan in the same breath. You don’t have to automatically diss one side to show support for the other when the thread isn’t even about the dissed side.

Guardian12 · 10/01/2023 00:03

A friend of mine met her at a dinner when she was on Suits, a year or so before she met Harry. She said Meghan Markle was very interested in Meghan Markle.

I feel sorry for anyone vaguely normal who marries into the RF, does everyone remember how awful they were to Kates Mum ? Taking the piss out of her because she used to work for a living ?

Someone I know had to query an issue with their Party Pieces order, this was a while back but not that long and after William and Kate were married. The customer service team contacted her and were really helpful and looking into all the mundane details (as they should)…at the end of the call she was a bit taken aback when she took a name and the caller was Carole Middleton.

Be more interesting to hear from people who have worked for her rather than met her.

“They’ve all been made to sign NDAs!”

You know this because you know her/have worked for her, of course.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 09/01/2023 23:33

What was the context in which that comment was alleged to have been said? The "if there was literally anyone else I could ask to do this..." comment?

Context is SO important when it comes to allegations about the Royal Family, or anyone in the public eye come to that. For all we know, the staff member was about to finish their shift, Meghan needed something doing and the staff member hesitated or glanced at the clock or something or it was known that the staff member had to leave imminently for a particular reason, and no-one was else was available to do the task. For all we know, the comment was said in an apologetic kind of way, a kind of "sorry, I know it's not ideal and that you're about to clock off, but there is no-one else available. If there was, I'd ask them."

I don’t disagree and actually think she’s just likely very direct. The context is only that it’s alleged by unhappy staffers and was included in Valentine Low’s book so could well be incorrect.

Soothsayer1 · 10/01/2023 00:17

the word charisma seems to be occurring quite frequently, I know its generally meant as a compliment but I tend to see it as ...sort of 'sociopath lite' i.e. charming & manipulative?
I don't think I'm really her target market tho so I'd not expect to relate to her persona much!
She is very lovely & sweet looking I agree!

SuperHandss · 10/01/2023 00:23

FlyingNorth · 09/01/2023 17:07

The report about the investigation into the alleged bullying has never been published. Not even a summary or a conclusion statement. I wonder why that is?

Maybe they're protecting Meghan by keeping the conclusions out of the papers? Just a thought.

Seems unlikely when RF have done so little to prevent some hideous articles.

SuperHandss · 10/01/2023 00:26

Bluekerfuffle · 09/01/2023 21:17

Maybe, but couldn’t she have just told him then instead of the cold shoulder treatment?

Nah, block and move on. The MN way.

Whenharrymetsmelly · 10/01/2023 00:28

The more I see, she does seem nice (maybe too nice?), and does seem to have a lot of friends, plus past co workers and school friends who speak highly of her. Anything I've seen on TV is only been people speaking positively about her so it does start to make me wonder maybe she isn't as bad as 'people' make out?

Bluekerfuffle · 10/01/2023 00:28

SuperHandss · 10/01/2023 00:23

Seems unlikely when RF have done so little to prevent some hideous articles.

They have done so little to prevent hideous articles about several of them. They don’t have control of the press. But they do have some control over an internal investigation, which is what this was.

Eyerollcentral · 10/01/2023 00:30

SuperHandss · 10/01/2023 00:23

Seems unlikely when RF have done so little to prevent some hideous articles.

There is a free press. The RF PR do work with papers - as does every other person’s representatives in this field. What hideous articles do you think they could/should have prevented? Do you think it would be right for anyone to prevent any negative stories about them? Sounds like censorship

I can't imagine anyone but a narcissist making comments like the Africans dancing in the streets when she got married like when Mandela was released.

With all of the half truths and lies it is obvious that there is a specific picture she wants to paint of herself that isn't authentic.

Dont forget the airline pilot who knelt beside her, took off his cap and said “I would like to thank you for your service to this country” on the day she left the U.K….

Ticketyboots · 10/01/2023 00:43

Bigdealio · 09/01/2023 23:16

I haven't met Meghan but I like her. She comes across as friendly and down to earth. REady to muck in and also eager to contribute.

I like that she is well educated, very articulate, built her career and had a few milestones under her belt before meeting Harry. As a mixed race person, she knows what it's like to make herself heard in a situation where people automatically assume she's stupid and want to silence her.

Kate is also very talented, at dieting.

Misogynistic comment.

Ticketyboots · 10/01/2023 00:44

LikeTearsInRain · 09/01/2023 23:02

I have met Meghan she was fantastic

I have also met Kate. She wears her smile out in public as a mask to hide a deeply irritable and unpleasant diva persona.

More misogyny - you should listen to MM Archetypes - she would roast you for calling K a diva.

wtfisgoingonhere21 · 10/01/2023 00:45

Never met any of them.

Everyone is influenced by what is written in the press one way or another.

Characters and personalities are never always the same right?

I mean let's be honest here but my work mode and non work mode are two different things.

Add to that a shit ton of people following you constantly and having to be on your best behaviour and watch literally everything you say all the time is going to make people crack.

And no I'm not either way or on any sides because why would I be?

All families have issues it's just that theirs is put out for the world to have a nose at.

And yes it's the royal family however none of them chose to be born into it did they??

William always comes across as polite and nice when he's shaking hands but who knows what he's like behind closed doors under constant scrutiny.

I couldn't work with any of my family cause the sparks would constantly fly and it's the same for most people ordinary or royal.

More people may see her in the next few days as the entire Montecito area, has been ordered to evacuate due to very bad weather

Yes, I’ve just seen this. It really does look dangerous https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/us-celebrity-news/ellen-degeneres-scary-update-mudslides-28914196

Well, none of her colleagues on Suits, her friends, ex-boyfriends or indeed her ex-husband have sold a story slagging her off so that tells you something about her doesn’t it?

I’m not counting her so-called half-sister who clearly lacks credibility.

That’s true but they haven’t said anything good either

Ticketyboots · 10/01/2023 01:44

Wanttobefree2 · 10/01/2023 01:19

Didn’t MM say that 5 of her mates got together to brief in a positive feature to People Magazine (?) to counter the negative press … and she didn’t know anything about it…… !!!!! As if she didn’t know anything about it.

Nicecow · 10/01/2023 01:51

Wanttobefree2 · 10/01/2023 01:19

They actually have said many great things. Her suits colleague also turned down money from the press to lie about how he had slept with her (how low can the press go??). Your comment is disturbing as it shows how blind people choose to be

Bluekerfuffle · 09/01/2023 23:53

Knowing Trump got him interview/s. More money. The same goes for Harry and Meghan with their Netflix, books deals etc., money. It really is all about the money.

MissTrip82 · 10/01/2023 02:28

ShutTheFrontDory · 09/01/2023 23:44

You know people can be bothered about both Prince Andrew and Harry equally, right?

Or do we always have to try and use the Andrew thing as a counter argument in H&M discussions?

Not equally, surely?

Surely?

Unbelievable.

SorenLore · 10/01/2023 02:37

I worked with Meghan about 6 years ago. I was doing some satellite work - I'm not an actor or anything even vaguely similar. She was fine. Polite and keen to do her job well, is my main recollection.

My relatives were at school with Kate, incidentally. Sporty but a bit dull, according to them. I know the family vaguely - simply through living on the doorstop for years and social circles/trips to Waitrose overlapping at the edges.

Again, and unsurprisingly, no dramatic revelations. Normal people in a somewhat extraordinary situation, by and large. I will say that Pippa seems really pleasant - she's naturally a warm person who makes a real effort to be nice to people around her.

That's it. I replied here because the topic trended and I had something to add, but won't hang around - the posting style/language/nastiness around the subject of Meghan/Kate/whatever on these forums is truly appalling.
