To think sexism is behind the hatred of Meghan

Because Kate is loved for just conforming with a smile and doing what's expected of her, where as Meghan is a strong woman and Harry is expected to man up and put her in her place, which he hasn't contributing to hatred of Harry.
I'm not saying there's not more to it and things have certainly escalated but deeply rooted I feel sexism has played a part.

If you don't know her personally you have only got that impression due to the combination of sexism and racism that has been sprouted in the press.

Not true. I’ve got that impression from her blog, when it was still up, and various other things she has written. She mentions how special she is in various ways. Her blog is particularly hilarious as it contains posts about how innately philanthropic she is (with very little evidence) and how she changed P&G’s sexist advertising (since debunked) wedged between hundreds of posts about shoes, holidays and cocktails.

This is becoming like blankety blank 😂

Maybe I have been swayed by the media slightly, but as an expert in body language and behaviour, I have concluded myself that she is not a nice person.

What qualifications do you have to make you an expert? Body language is pseudoscience.

I use behavioural detection for my job.

('Expert' refers to enhanced knowledge or skills, not qualifications.)

DogBowlsAreMyWeapon · 09/01/2023 15:29

Oh give over. Anne (for one) is greatly admired. It’s feck all to do with an ism.

Unikeko · 09/01/2023 15:31

None of her personal behaviour or how she comes across warrants the misogyny and racism she's been subject to.

BethDuttonsTwin · 09/01/2023 15:32

Palomabalom · 09/01/2023 13:56

I think it’s more to do with her annoying attitude and personality than anything more serious such as race or sex

This. Also that she always appears to be acting, and not very well either.

ZenNudist · 09/01/2023 15:33

It's not sexism or misogyny. She's insufferable

potniatheron · 09/01/2023 15:33

It's not because she's a woman, it's because she's a twat.

Kate, until recently, did all that dutifully under a female monarch.

But debating any possible sexism within that role does not negate the fact that Meghan was here for 5 mins, took a tax-payer funded extravaganza of a wedding to invite her Hollywood pals and I’ll take a royal title thank you very much, bullied the staff, talked disrespectfully to a SIL she barely knew, realised the houses she was offered weren’t palatial enough, the muggles weren’t ‘grateful’ enough for her ‘sacrifice’ then decided she hated us all and fucked off.

Then publicly lied about it all. With sad puppy dog eyes.

So no, it isn’t sexism. Or racism. It’s a natural antipathy toward narcissistic behaviours.

Yup. In a nutshell

Yes this exactly

this. It is possible to be female and also be an insufferable arsehole.

TootsAtOwls · 09/01/2023 15:44

I really liked her until the Oprah interview, where she said several things that were obvious lies. Luke getting married the days before the wedding, the idea that her kids not getting titles was down to racism, etc.

I've never heard a Meghan fan's defence of this so please do elaborate!

Tamarindtree · 09/01/2023 15:44

In what way is she strong?

She had a career based on her appearance and then married a wealthy Prince, after her appearance caught his eye.

Is she one of those people that can open new jars with a quick twist of her hand whilst many struggle and resort to stabbing the lid with scissors in order to
open it?

Can she hoist Harold over her shoulder in a fireman’s lift and spring a 100 yards without breaking into a sweat?

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 09/01/2023 15:45

things have certainly escalated

///

Understatement much, OP? Hmm

WinnieFosterReads · 09/01/2023 15:46

Yy there is sexism involved and this thread is a great example of it - comparing two women, pitting them against each other, and dismissing one because you don't deem them challenging enough.
No-one who genuinely cared about sexism would choose being a gf over addressing issues. It's boring. And there are hundreds of gf threads doing the same thing so it's not even original. Be better. Try harder. Educate yourself, etc 🥱

GloomyDarkness · 09/01/2023 15:46

I think she does get blamed for a lot that is actually Harry.

I think many of the spouses who marry in have a hard time - male and female but the females do tend to have it worse with the press for a longer time.

I also think as an american she thought she knew what the RF was and really didn't - and again Harry let her down with preparation.

However her Africa interview was tone deaf and a lot of what she said since leaving doesn't make her look very good - some of that is cultural but a lot more seems to be her own personality and goals.

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 09/01/2023 15:50

No @nevermindallthat, it is her behavior and hypocrisy that makes people dislike her. She is a proven liar. You can try all you want but her sex, gender, colour nor anything else can change that fact.

PurpleButterflyWings · 09/01/2023 15:52

potniatheron · 09/01/2023 15:33

😂 Best comment on here! (And the most accurate!) Grin

nevermindallthat · 09/01/2023 14:42

I agree the queen was a strong woman but she was the queen where strength was a virtue.
Meghan married a prince and her strength is seen as menacing.

😂The very idea that Meghan is a stronger woman than Queen Elizabeth II is utterly UTTERLY farcical. You're taking the piss. You seriously think OUR QUEEN would have been intimidated by someone as insignificant as Meghan freakin' Markle? STOP! My sides are aching!!! 😂😂😂

No people decided to hate on her long before she moved to the US or gave interviews... their impressions of her were formed by the biased reporting in the papers they read and their own racism....

See exactly the same thing with Diane Abbott vs an equally gaff prone politician like Nadine Dorries, Dorries being white.. gets the free pass.

ImBlueDab · 09/01/2023 15:57

I don't see how that could be the case when the reigning monarch (for the most of Meghans involvement with them) was a woman who was seen as strong. She didn't confirm with a lot of the traditions and changed the way we see the RF, along with some traditions

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 09/01/2023 15:59

@Alexandra2001 They really weren't. I had no idea she was not white and I liked her a lot until Eugenie's wedding and the coat caper.

Alexandra2001 · 09/01/2023 16:08

PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog · 09/01/2023 15:59

Thats you but before she even opened her mouth, the media started making unflattering comparisons between her and Kate.

No one on here as even met her in RL, their view of her is entirely based on the media, either for or against, what is printed/said about her or what she chooses to say.

Posters who have never met her or Harry... then say He is under her evil thumb.. ffs!

I don't know who is telling the truth here but i do remember seeing and reading some awful stuff about her but with Kate, it was all sweetness and light! even when cradling their respective bumps or wearing similar outfits.. one an english rose, the other tarty and out there :(

I also think that in any very serious family argument, there will be fault on both sides.... so i don't believe they are making this all up.

I think its based on dislike and race.

Pugdogmom · 09/01/2023 16:11

Seems a bit weird that anyone that criticises MM must automatically be a racist or misogynistic..🙄.
Whats the excuse for criticising PH then? Are people gingerist then?
