To think sexism is behind the hatred of Meghan

nevermindallthat · 09/01/2023 13:46

Because Kate is loved for just conforming with a smile and doing what's expected of her, where as Meghan is a strong woman and Harry is expected to man up and put her in her place, which he hasn't contributing to hatred of Harry.
I'm not saying there's not more to it and things have certainly escalated but deeply rooted I feel sexism has played a part.

Does anyone care enough to actually hate her.

They just need to go away.

MarancoBelly · 09/01/2023 14:21

My dislike of her is from what I've witnessed.
The photos of her at the wedding in Jamaica where she looked like she was being rude to the waiter, the interview she did in Africa where she played the victim and said no one had ever asked "how are you" before, the way she and Harry think it is appropriate to make everything about them when the world is falling apart, and the lies she has told.
Maybe I have been swayed by the media slightly, but as an expert in body language and behaviour, I have concluded myself that she is not a nice person.

slashlover · 09/01/2023 14:21

YANBU - it's happened to all the women who marry into the RF - Sarah Ferguson, Camilla, Diana, Sophie, even Kate had it for a while. Meanwhile, there's never been as much venom spouted at the male members, they've had some stories but have never been as hounded as the women.

Meghan was the first one to properly stand up to them so they haven't allowed her to come out the other end.

anyolddinosaur · 09/01/2023 14:22

YABU for posting outside of the royal family topic.

You don't know her personally so aren't really qualified to comment on her attitude or personality. You have succumbed to the bullshit the British press spout.
It has everything to do with racism and sexism. The hatred she has had to face is akin with bloody Hitler. It's a sad reflection on our country. Think for yourselves don't be coerced by the newspapers and social media.

That post makes no sense. You say others cannot have an opinion as they don't know Megan personally then insist your opinion is the only one even though you don't know her either.

The Queen was a strong woman and she was very popular. I don't think anyone wanted someone to put her in her place.

This!

Blanketchops · 09/01/2023 14:25

Pretty sure that you can dislike a woman for lots of reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with her being a woman.

I don't know, maybe it's one of those.

Agree with @TheNoonBell What a ludicrous, nonsensical, and histrionic post post.

Purrfecto · 09/01/2023 14:26

I dislike Meagain for many reasons, none to do with her race or sex, it’s her personality.

What qualifications do you have to make you an expert? Body language is pseudoscience.

LubaLuca · 09/01/2023 14:01

There was literally ZERO chance that someone as insignificant as Meghan Markle would do this.

Pugdogmom · 09/01/2023 14:36

Well I don't hate her, but I find her extremely annoying and appears to use people and the press to suit her own agenda. Like a lot of Zelebs. I think I dislike Harry more actually

nevermindallthat · 09/01/2023 14:42

I agree the queen was a strong woman but she was the queen where strength was a virtue.
Meghan married a prince and her strength is seen as menacing.

Kate, until recently, did all that dutifully under a female monarch.
But debating any possible sexism within that role does not negate the fact that Meghan was here for 5 mins, took a tax-payer funded extravaganza of a wedding to invite her Hollywood pals and I’ll take a royal title thank you very much, bullied the staff, talked disrespectfully to a SIL she barely knew, realised the houses she was offered weren’t palatial enough, the muggles weren’t ‘grateful’ enough for her ‘sacrifice’ then decided she hated us all and fucked off.
Then publicly lied about it all. With sad puppy dog eyes.
So no, it isn’t sexism. Or racism. It’s a natural antipathy toward narcissistic behaviours.

Well put, UWhat.

I can only speak for myself, but I was slow to the party with the original news of H & M's romance. I didn't pick up that she was mixed-race for a while, in fact.

I took half-a minute's look/listen...and judged. Phoney, whiney, fake, sweet/sickly, self-obsessed, cutesy...NO THANK YOU, MA'AM!

I don't know if any of that counts as racist/sexist...I doubt it. But possibly shows my cynicism about celebrities? Also, Californian psychobabbling and over confidence?? More likely, I think.

Not at all. I don't know her personally either but people on here speak like they've spent the last few years in her company 24/7.

What I said is the hatred is based on racism, sexism and many other things. People are making their decions about Meghan and Harry based on what they've read in newspapers and social media.

This will never be resolved. People will always hate people for bizarre and spurious reasons. The British Press has revelled in this Harry and Meghan versus the RF for years now.

Saying someone has an annoying attitude and personality that you have never met makes no sense either but because they read it somewhere or have been coerced into believing it then it must be true🤔

IWineAndDontDine · 09/01/2023 14:51

It happens with women in the public eye a lot. Jameela Jamil does a great highlights reel on her Instagram named "gaslighting" outlining the process the media go through. First it starts with publishing lots of articles about them, positive usually. Acting like they give tons of press interviews and are fame hungry, narcissistic. When realistically they are just pulling comments from tweets or an interview from 3 years prior. Make them seem desperate to be in the public eye. Then as people start to get bored of them, sick of them, they start with the negative onslaught. By the end people are really done with them and hate them. Its happened to loads of females such as Taylor swift, Meghan, demi lovato, etc etc etc. Overexpose, then tear them down.

I find it sad reading these comments. Women helping women unless you find pathetic reasons to hate them, then let's bully them into the ground.

Fozzleyplum · 09/01/2023 14:54

Meghan has proven herself to be a
an annoying liar. That's why she's disliked - nothing to do with her sex (or any other protected characteristic).

Fantastic post. Agree 100%.
As Taylor Swift said haters are always gonna hate.
Sad the hatred I see here on a daily basis.

I'm not coerced into believing anything, and certainly not basing someone's personality on stuff I have read on tabloids, but there are plenty of interviews done where we've heard her own words.

Engagement interview
Africa interview
Oprah Winfrey
6 part Netflix doc.

I was originally a supporter of them both, but the backtracking and inconsistencies from them BOTH, over a period of time, makes me doubt a thing they say. Too many to list.

UWhatNow · 09/01/2023 15:12

What I said is the hatred is based on racism, sexism and many other things. People are making their decions about Meghan and Harry based on what they've read in newspapers and social media.”

We are basing them on what have come out of their own mouths! Their lies have also been refuted by credible sources who have provided evidence.

For example, Harry and Megan called their engagement interview ‘an orchestrated reality show… we weren’t allowed to tell our story because they didn’t want it’ and yet their hand picked ‘interviewer’ Mishal Hussain said to the BBC that "We went and had a conversation with Harry and Meghan and two members of their team beforehand and we talked about what the interview would cover, what they felt comfortable sharing.

"After that, we went and set up our cameras. They went away for a bit and did their photocall and when they came back we recorded a 20-minute interview."

So the vitriolic disgust at the so-called ‘orchestrated reality show’ was a 20 min interview that they themselves orchestrated! They are deluded.

Ultimately these are two rich people who have benefit and continue to benefit from the British tax payers - at a time of extreme financial crisis - and they do nothing but whine and lie. The ‘hate’ is nothing to do with racism or sexism it’s to do with privilege, entitlement and narcissism.

Frankensteinisamonster · 09/01/2023 15:13

Op you don’t need to put one woman down to big up another

enough of this shitty pitting them against each other and insulting one to make the other look good.

shame on you
