I watched the series on Netflix and was horrified. The sexism and the racism. It was educational for me, too, in terms of the RF and its history, and the way it addresses racism/sexism (or rather, doesn't). Both Meghan and Harry came off as good people (which I suppose is obvious, as it's their series... but then I feel like you can usually spot an a-hole, even when they're the ones behind making of a documentary or whatever).
What gets me, too, is that no one ever seems to recognise that Diana was just used as a breeding vessel for the RF. Charles didn't love her, he wasn't in love with her, he just needed someone to give him an heir. I'm surprised that Harry nor William even question their marriage. It seems so obvious to me. (Of course, I don't know any of them, so maybe they were really in love blah blah, but to me it just seemed like a 100% marriage to make babies, healthy young bride from the 'right genetic stuff' and all that.)
Anyway, I'd love to watch a documentary made by Kate/William, Charles/Camilla too. I feel like the series really put Harry and Meghan's views on the whole thing clearly, and it definitely gained them one supporter in me. I've never been into the royal family in any way, but they seem like the most well-adjusted members after viewing that series! Which seems to be the opposite of what most of mumsnet think/believe.
I feel like this whole thing is less to do with the RF and more to do with the tabloids - it really shows them up for the hate-mongering money-grabbing evil corporations that they are. And we buy it. We literally pay them to pour hate into our society. It's horrific, really. What Harry and Meghan have done is show that, in their series, at least. Can't say about the book as I haven't read it...
