Charles "joking" about Harry's parentage.

Do we all think that's funny? Or should Harry have just sucked up having his parentage being questioned his entire life and not let him bother him?

Nah, bollocks. Joking with your own kid about who their parent is is one thing. Joking about it when the public and press have claimed you aren't, is something quite different.

Except that none of them believed the rumour. Harry's quite clear that he didn't believe the rumour and he knew his dad didn't.
Likeca previous poster said maybe it was just tied in with meeting the guy who claimed he was the Prince of Wales. As Charles genuinely never considered Harry wasn't his own son, he wouldn't have thought saying it was casting doubt on Harry's paternity.

My parents used to joke that i was the milkman's baby. I thought it was funny growing up.

No doubt you would have felt differently if it was on the front of a daily rag.

No I don't think it's funny. And what parents jokes about their child's parentage.

And it was probably the start of his mental health issues. Imagine growing up with not only the press making these statements, but your own father as well.

my MIL always jokes about dh being the milkman’s.
some families do joke around like that, of course they know it’s not true and it’s not meant to be offensive

kirinm · 08/01/2023 13:32

Harry evidently didn't find it funny.

The amount of mental gymnastics you guys will do when it suits your narrative is amazing. All about context except when you're talking about the taliban comment or the drug taking comment or the lip gloss comment or the fight comment.

True. Hypocrites at their finest.

HerReputationMadeItDifficultToProceed · 08/01/2023 13:37

As if they haven't done DNA tests. I imagine it's done anyway now it's easy enough to do, but once it was clear that Diana had been sleeping with people other than Charles at some point in the marriage, they almost certainly did them on William and Harry.

jays · 08/01/2023 13:38

You’ll be amazed at the amount of folk to try and minimise this or try desperately to find a way to blame Harry for his father’s actions etc so they can carry on spewing their mob mentality bile. Just like the media has told them to.

He said ‘maybe your real Dad is in Broadmoor’

Nothing to do with James Hewitt

He wasntbjoking that Harry was James Hewitt's,son. He was joking that he was the man in Broadmoor's. I don't think that anyone was implying that Diana had slept with him.

I didn’t say it was anything to do with James Hewitt? I said…. If Charles or anyone else has done something wrong, so many folk on here will try and find a way to make it Harry’s fault so that they can continue to spew bile about him because they are enjoying it.

My dad told everyone I was the postman's he literally used to be a postman before i was born

I think the wider context is the key.

From the extract I read it was directly after Chalres had visited a home in which one of the residents claimed to be the Prince of Wales. Charles had joked ith him that he couldn't be, because Chales was the PoW but the resident wouldn't have it and that Charles was the imposter.

It was regarding this event, that Charles joked he might not be Harry and William's dad (and that the resident might be).

This.

It wasn't a comment about Major Hewitt. It was because they had just visited a person who believed they were the Prince of Wales.

It was a bit of a joke.

Unfortunately Harry's such a bloody idiot he's too thick to understand. Or he's desperately trying to find offence and ill treatment out of every little comment ever made because clearly he's so victimised.

JamSandle · 08/01/2023 13:47

I think it's one of those things probably taken out of context. It was all over the media at one point so perhaps KC way of making light of it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 08/01/2023 13:48

All my family have brown eyes and I have grey, apparently the same shade as the milkman's according to mum and dad 🙄🤣

Harry not only looks like Philip and Charles he has Spencer red hair.

Oh, I assumed it was about this and not a wider commentary, because you wrote ‘You’ll be amazed at the amount of folk to try and minimise this’

No because it's a lie

Somebatshitteryonhere · 08/01/2023 13:52

I will disagree, when this is so all over the media nd so constant as it was, I think making light of it is not the worst way to handle it. As long as the child fully knows the parent is the parent, which harry did.

Ramensoooop · 08/01/2023 13:55

Tbf even harry contextualises the joke and makes a point to state Charles didn’t really think it may be the case. Weird that you’re twisting what Harry actually said.

Absolutely- context is key!

It was a joke following an event Charles attended. I honestly think Harry is clutching at straws and trying to find any reason to denigrate his family.

Someone on another thread said that it's like he's following the divorce 'script' and re-writing history to show he was never happy with his family and they deserve all that's he's done. To me this seems very apt.

I do wish him well though as he seems so unhappy and mentally unwell. Really wish he had good decent people around him looking out for his best interests but that really doesn't seem to be the case sadly.

Goodread1 · 08/01/2023 14:00

I think Prince Harry and his Misses are trying to take moral high ground by making it out to be more than it really is,

I think it's strange how Prince Harry as he is so super sensitive about mental health Subject

That he cares not idota for his family or the British Army or any cilvian individuals about potential to come to possible harm,

Cause of his self asorbed Needy mee mee Man child Dim as shit as like outside latrine toilet comments,

He is only Sensitive just like his wife when it's suits them,

Totally Hyprocrites both of them,

He is going to run the day sooner or later, he said stupid comments in first place....

Mine too ! That milkman got around 🤣

Babdoc · 08/01/2023 14:04

OP, are you Meghan?! Because you seem hugely over invested in all this, and disproportionately outraged on Harry’s behalf. Charles seems to have inherited his father’s sometimes inappropriate sense of humour, but it’s rather silly to manufacture a major incident out of an off the cuff joke.

caringcarer · 08/01/2023 14:10

FFS Harry could have done a DNA test if he was that bothered. Anyway I don't believe most of stuff coming out of his mouth.

DewinDwl · 08/01/2023 14:11

No it's not funny.

TBH what stands out to me from this whole debacle is what a mess Charles has made of things. Does he look back at his adult life choices and go "yeah, I did the best I could there" I wonder?

tappinginto2023 · 08/01/2023 14:15

I agree with the comment above. The family are a car-crash.

I think the Windsors would have made Diana have an abortion if Harry wasn't Charles - they easily could have arranged tests while D was pregnant and then arranged an abortion, her consent or not. No way the 'spare' wouldn't have Windsor blood.

I’d wager he shows a lot more self reflection than Harry tbh.

Has Harry admitted to ever doing anything wrong yet in this book?

Him being the perfect victim at all times is just tedious now, so even if he does have a genuine grievance it’s going to be dismissed as self indulgent bollocks
