The royal family

Harry was totally ill advised when writing this book

I'm actually shocked at the level of personal detail this book seems to go into. He seems to have shared every personal moment and detail in his life and his families' life.

I can't work out if the publisher or his Management have massively taken advantage of his vulnerability in advising him to write so personally or if he is genuinely that bitter and naive that he feels it was the right thing to do.

There are meant to be two more books, what other revelations are there? Whilst it's fascinating to read (yes I am hypocrite as I do find it interesting) I can't help but think he will live to regret doing this and it will all blow up in his face. Considering he hates the tabloid press it feels so tabloidy (I don't think that's a word but you get what I mean).

@seriouslyjaded this exactly! The other moves seem quite clever, but this book seems to be something that Katie Price or Piers Morgan might have written. Surely he could have written a good book, without talking about losing his virginity in such a Jilly Cooper style or mentioned Will's dick!

It's just a loud 'who's got the biggest royal todger' fight isn't it? I expect there's a pic in the book, with carefully marked out measurements.

@debbrianna you know everything. I did always think when that story broke that the Royal Family had given the story to the press to hide a much more scandalous one from another member of the family.

They're trying to do that again. There's a story about Prince Andrew just released. That's going to close down the Harry book quite quickly I should think. 🙄

I work in PR and am really puzzled by the strategy behind this (if there indeed is one!). Harry and Meghan want to be taken seriously as activists, philanthropists and advocates for good causes but this book feels like tabloid kiss and tell.

From a strategy point of view, doing Oprah was a good move (classy lady/classy show) followed by other carefully selected 'serious' media but then all these lurid details about sex, drugs, virginity etc were 100% bound to end up as cheezy tabloid headlines.

They've either had no advice, really bad advice or there's some kind of left field strategy that no one can figure out. It's all very puzzling!

They believed that they were taking control of the narrative and could punch back by getting into bed with NF and PRH,

But each of these are huge global corporates with one sole agenda - their own revenue.

H&M are only another commodity in the hundreds they rinse through their system for profit. NF and PRH have teams of experienced senior strategists working on getting the most viewers / readers - the content and H&M are irrelevant.

supertato32 · 07/01/2023 11:04

@newnamethanks 😂😂😂 now that is something I really don't want to think about

I see this said a lot. I doubt he was advised though, he probably just decided it would be a good idea and went with it. I'm sure I read on here that MM was allegedly unhappy about some bits in this book too?

It's interesting because I see this in line with Harry's behavior, and it's not out of the norm. I am not surprised he lost his virginity in that way (funny) and then talked about it.

I think their target audience is young people in general. The older generation can and will have issues but it is the young people who will spend money in five years time to buy everything, Harry and Meghan. They are more savvy when it comes to debunking what has been written in the book and what the media is writing. Tiktok and social media is their friend in the long run. The strategy might work if their aim is making money.

My cup of tea is ready and I am interested in how this plays out.

Beamur · 07/01/2023 11:14

It's certainly keeping them being talked about.
The sensational nature of these revelations will keep being news for years.
In terms of privacy they've eviscerated themselves (ironically) but this kind of stuff has legs. It's both a car crash and weirdly savvy I think. Bridges have been well and truly torched though.

So you think that in 5 years time a couple of hasbeens hitting 50 will be prime placed to run a lucrative opportunity on tic tok selling H&M merch to the young?

Have I got you right?

Novella4 · 07/01/2023 11:17

I have a theory

Harry has thrown every bit of gossip / damage he can think of into the book in order to take these 'weapons' from the hands of the 'royals' and the press
He has laid it all out - they have little left to use against him in their briefing wars
Clever really

Wibbly1008 · 07/01/2023 11:17

I don’t have Harry at all, but it’s like watching a crash - I can’t seem to looks away!

Either that, or his desperate scrabble for attention has been poorly handled…

supertato32 · 07/01/2023 11:20

@Novella4 If this is the case, he must have very little on Will as he scraped the barrel haha

If mn has switched from giving them 3 years before a divorce to give them 10 years, it means there is longevity that some people are not willing to admit regarding the couple but can see. I actually think they are alright for now because they have content. The has been have literally filled up every news papers and blogs you can think of 🤔. Whether is good or bad.

I also believe the pre-emptying any sensentional stories might play out in their favour in the long run. I didn't see it coming but it will be a ride.

@debbrianna

I've just started reading the thread from the start and I realise you have made the same point !

Sorry - I wasn't hijacking honest !
I have a bad habit of jumping in without reading whole thread
Great minds eh?

Apparently (lbc correspondent) H has 3 court cases pending against some/one? UK newspaper. I think they concern invasion of privacy. If that's true then the press lawyers must all be celebrating like Mrs Rooney's legal team.

RocketsMagnificent7 · 07/01/2023 11:48

I may be being thick but exactly how will revealing when he lost his virginity or about his frost-bitten penis stop any 'briefing' moving forward? Do you genuinely believe the Palace had these gems stored up and Harry has thought I'll get in there first, bollocks if it makes me look an utter fool.

Genuinely, you believe the BRF would use a broken necklace and singing to seals as weapons?

Your theory makes no sense. As surely they can still 'brief' going forward about things that happen in the future.

As I said might just be me missing something.

I think that’s wishful thinking but I agree that might be Harry’s thinking ( or his teams) however I don’t think Charles would ever agree to releasing stuff about drug taking and why would William release the kitchen dog bowl story? I doubt Charles knew about the horse lady and if he did why would he release it?
Most of the relevations reflect badly on everyone or at least not positively.
i’m not sure I buy this theory

There is a class action regarding the phone hacking scandal. 11 members I think, including Steven Lawrence's mother (I could be wrong). I think it will be interesting regarding the payment and possible bankrupting of certain newspapers.

We all knew they took drugs, didn't we?
I am sure there was a story about William and Harry taking private jets with their mates just to take drugs and come back. I know I am not imagining this.

Novella4 · 07/01/2023 11:58

@sashagabadon

Are you serious ?

All the 'royals ' do is brief endlessly against each other .

The fight with William reflects much more badly in William but it still got out - I read or saw ( can't remember ) a journalist saying it wasn't new and fed into the 'incandescent with rage' label that is associated with William

Harry has gone scorched earth .

sashagabadon · 07/01/2023 11:59

My theory is that he had to produce good titbits and royal gossip for his fee. He probably spoke candidly to the writer and didn’t think about what he was saying. He also thinks Meghan is marvellous so why wouldn’t we find the seal story endearing like he does?
he thinks the taliban stuff would get him hero plaudits as it did back in 2013 and play well and that has backfired.
he thinks we all find him funny and cheeky and would enjoy the frozen penis story (which is just a funny story and harmless) which we did 10 years ago but that ship has long sailed.
he has terrible advisers that not only give him terrible advice but possibly actively and possibly purposefully as they don’t care about him and just see dollars. He lacks his own judgment too.

debbrianna · 07/01/2023 11:59

The neckles thing just adds to William's personality as aggressive and abusive.
