They announced the pregnancy at Eugenie’s wedding

I fucking told everyone this at the time! Everyone was like “no way, the press are just being mean to Meghan she would never do that”

Harry has confirmed she did.

DICK MOVE from the two of them. I can see the MN thread now “it was my wedding and my bastard cousin stood up and announced the pregnancy and stole my limelight”

6 - 8 weeks pregnant with my youngest my face was puffy, my boobs had gone up a cup size and I was a fetching shade of green @clpsmum . I definitely looked pregnant.

Nah can easily pass that off as weight gain and illness. She was desperately trying to look as pregnant as possible

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 06/01/2023 21:49

Oooh and eugh.. ok so I was one of the people who said of course they didn’t do that, and the press were just being shites. Personally I think it’s so rude - you don’t know in advance that the bride and groom will be ok with it, or are just being polite about you making any announcement on their big day. You’re giving them no choice at all. That’s inconsiderate and somehow a bit creepy. Tbh the outfit was a weird one as do remember her not showing at all on the tour later. Ugh. Ugh and ugh. Why would Harold reveal this anyway? It doesn’t paint them in a good light and most people would find it very rude.

This book seems to have a lot of stuff that really doesn't paint Meghan in a good light, but Harry doesn't seem to realise that. He seems to think it was perfectly reasonable to tell.someone they had baby brain etc

Apparently the Americans (which is where the money is and therefore what counts for them) are lapping this up and H&M very much winning the PR battle over there - at least that what the commentator on R4 this morning said.

the US media doesn’t seem to be painting H in a very positive light

meghan seems very confused to me about what her image actually is. Is she a down to earth, barefoot earth mother who shops at ikea? Or does she having Hermes blankets drapes everywhere and spend 40k on dresses? Harry is just confused about life. I agree with posters who have said he’s basically has too much therapy and is now pretty insufferable and overly self involved (I wouldn’t want to sit next to him at a party, which isn’t something anyone would have thought about him a decade ago!)

Yep, I’m sure if her wedding was ruined she wouldn’t still be friends with them! Maybe, Eugenie was happy and excited for her cousin and friend and it only added to the happy celebrations…. Some of us have family who we love and we even, shockingly, borrow them our lip gloss!

Or maybe, she is worried about her cousin and didn’t want to give a reason for her to be frozen out of his life.

I know I’ve slapped a smile on and pretended in order to keep relations open with friends I’ve been worried about.

Unsure33 · 06/01/2023 21:51

I had a relative who was going to a week long wedding and was pregnant. I said to her don’t announce the pregnancy on the wedding day ( her brothers birthday) I said it’s Bad manners. But she did and she was not popular. Her excuse was people had noticed she was not drinking 🤷‍♀️.All she had to do was say she was in antibiotics. The Bride was not happy .

JustAnotherManicMomday · 06/01/2023 21:52

Yes it was a shitty move. However given his honesty regarding this, it does make you think if his this honest about something that makes him look an arse that just maybe there's alot of truth in the rest of what his saying.

Imagine being pissed that someone else is pregnant, how petty. Also a bit narcissistic to have to be centre of attention, how fragile some people's egos are. She can announce her pregnancy whenever, it's happy news.

So you can announce it on any day over a fairly wide number of days but decide to do announce it very publicly and steal attention on the day when someone else is getting married?

Utterly bizarre and totally unnecessary.

Legrandetraitor · 06/01/2023 21:17

I think it shows how deluded and lacking in self awareness he is that he would write this in a book and not realise how bad it makes him look?

Totally!! This is quite incredible, total dick move and all this book seems to be doing is him telling everyone what self absorbed morons they are. I'm actually just flabbergasted at all these 'revelations' that reveal them in a very bad light!!

If it was a MN AIBU thread meghan would be torn to shreds for telling people at the wedding

Not so sure. Pretty sure if you’d posted from the bride’s point of view you’d be accused of being a bridezilla.

And most sane people avoid AIBU anyway since it’s largely populated by trolls and bellends who would argue black is white. It’s not a particularly good model for what you should do.

I think he’s just that stupid. The whole book makes them look awful. The singing seals thing and Meghan at diana’s grave mentioned on another thread transcend the book into the realm of truly batshit

You're allowed to want to be centre of attention at your wedding, it's the one day when you can do this 🙄

LuluBlakey1 · 06/01/2023 21:57

Harold has also written that he delivered Lili because he wanted 'my face to be the first thing she saw as she came into the world . When the doctor said it was a question of minutes, I told Meg the first thing I wanted was for the little baby to see my face. We knew it would be a girl. She agreed and pressed my hand.'

With the doctor overseeing the whole thing, Harold explained how he helped to deliver his daughter into the world.

He then handed her over to Meghan - who told him that she had 'never been as in love with him as she was in that moment' - so she could do skin-to-skin with her daughter.

I find it unlikely she said those words.

Hongkongsuey · 06/01/2023 21:57

Is this really a thing? When I got married, one of my friends told us she was pregnant and we were so pleased-it made a very happy day even happier. There’s enough joy to go round surely.

No, Bridezilla is when everything has to be about the bride for months leading up to the wedding and people are asked to meet unreasonable expectations re dress etc.

A bride is allowed/supposed to be centre of attention on the day

LuluBlakey1 · 06/01/2023 21:59

Sarah Ferguson made her anger clear to them about them taking the attention away from Eugenie and Jack - according to 'sources close to the Yorks'. (Press quote)

Toddlerteaplease · 06/01/2023 21:59

I remember thinking it was a bit mean to do that at the time!

BethDuttonsTwin · 06/01/2023 21:59

BethJ62 · 06/01/2023 21:22

No she didn’t! She was only 6-8 weeks and the following week was wearing a fitted dress !
Some of us said at the time that the loose coat was unnecessary but we were labelled mean.

And no doubt also…racist!

Where are all the defenders now I wonder. Some of them must be cringing themselves inside out. Everything is being confirmed, straight out of the couple’s own mouths!

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 06/01/2023 22:00

Ok random but need to vent. My friends wedding last year… her husband is super decent. The best man was his brother, told the groom on the morning that he wanted to announce his partner’s pregnancy in his speech and end it with a tribute to her and a toast to her. Erm ok… he was told no (kindly), his father told him no (kind but firmly). He didn’t in the speech… then raised a random toast later to “special partners” (as if a weird tribute to the bride) and new life, then went round telling everyone about the pregnancy and said well everyone had read in to his speech and were asking (no one was). To the point where we were getting bored of it. I don’t know him well… the day was for my two friends, it wasn’t his day.

Some people just REALLY feel they’re the main character when in fact they’re the most basic, boring and boundary-bombing. We never admit it to my friend, but a massive feature of her wedding was him being a fucking hassle and us all thinking how rude it was.

But… even if he’d announced it in a discrete way, you know it should be really massive news. It’s not your day… literally wait one other day and let loose.

Boundary-bombers creep me out

Oh the irony, I think you should re-read your post 🙄

I think I preferred Mike Tindall's account of attending a home delivery....

LouLou198 · 06/01/2023 22:01

My sil announced her pregnancy to all the family on our wedding day. Due to a medical condition I have we had recently been told we may have trouble conceiving. Obviously she wasn't to know that but I just wished she had waited until the day after!

She looked visibly pregnant, not sure how they could deny @Legrandetraitor

"Visibly pregnant"? Are you sure?

This was how she looked several days later in Australia.

They announced the pregnancy at Eugenie’s wedding
