How come no one has mentioned the singing seals yet?

Harry says M sang to seals and they sang back to her and that and his mother's hair in a bit at the side of their bed helped them conceive??

Just when you think it couldn't get any dafter 😬

I don't find having the lock of hair odd at all, lots of people do and shouldn't be mocked for it.

The seals however...I read a bit more of the extract and apparently when they got back to the Castle of Mey, full of this mystical watery adventure, the Aussie chef told them they should have left the seals alone, the waters could well have been full of orca and luring them out could potentially cause their deaths. I suppose its something that this common sense advice was included.

Oh come on.
These people can't do anything right apparently.
He can grieve and remember his mother however he wants. Who the fuck is anyone to judge him for that?
There's plenty to make fun of without resorting to this.

I agree, I'm just saying that I would find it creepy. My DH has his DDads ashes in a filing cabinet in our house because he doesn't know what to do with them and if I'm honest it feels odd to me. No way would I let him keep them on the bedside table but again, each to their own.

But I think this detail (given by Harry himself) is more indicative of the fact that his whole life has been consumed by losing his mother and all the therapy he's supposedly had seems to have been of no help whatsoever. That is actually really sad.

How do you know it's been of no help whatsoever.

It's not a magic cure. His life will always be damaged.

Maybe the 'help' is that he's still actually alive.

Totally agree on the lock of hair.

Singing with seals and magical thinking...it's a bit too Cali for me but what they do is up to them.

As T S Eliot might have said "I have heard the seals singing, each to each. I now know they sing for me."

This is a BBC report from 2019 about Scottish seals being taught to sing by scientists at St Andrews University - which is, of course, Kate and Free Willy's alma mater. I conclude the RF was funding this research, planted said seals for Harold and Megs to find, and trained the cute creatures to sing "Please bugger off" messages at them.

Strangely enough, I was watching one of The Behaviour Panel's analysis of the Netflix series, and one of the analysts likened Meghan's voice at times to that of a trained seal (you can train them to say things).

That's seriously nasty, dont you feel embarassed to be repeating such a cheap insult? Meghan sounds like a normal human woman, with a US accent.

HoppingAndHoping · 07/01/2023 17:29

Ah, somebody already posted a singing seals video.

They can apparently learn to sing twinkle twinkle little star (which I find fascinating!) but it still is a rather particular sound, isn't it?

MoirasSaggyBundles · 07/01/2023 17:30

No. I'm not embarrassed at all. They are analysts trained in behavioural patterns, interrogation techniques, tells, ticks etc, not gossip mongers or "haters". I said her voice at times. When she said a particular word in a very low and gravelly way that is unlike her normal voice, this particular analyst was trying to find a way of describing what it reminded him of. This was said weeks ago, before the revelation of the Meghan singing to seals. I thought it was an amusing coincidence. HTH.

Away with you, with your sensible ideas 🤣. Yes, a few people have pointed this out - beggars belief.

I just can’t believe some of the stuff he’s included. Am waiting for some funny person to release a seal spoof of The Frog Chorus.

Its been years since I even thought about the frog chorus, I'm pissing myself now after seeing the 'the only woman to turn a prince into a frog' meme 😂
