How come no one has mentioned the singing seals yet?

Harry says M sang to seals and they sang back to her and that and his mother's hair in a bit at the side of their bed helped them conceive??

I think keeping a lock of hair is a very sentimental thing to do, its an old fashioned ritual/tradition now.

My dad died not so long ago and when we were clearing out his house we discovered a lock of my mums hair he had kept in his bedside locker, she had died very young when we were little. The lock of hair was still as soft as I remember it and still the same colour. My sister has kept it.

I’m still here! I wasn’t sure if I would actually buy the book and read it but now I really want to, nothing so far seems inconsistent with how I imagined him anyway. It is absolutely no surprise to me whatsoever that he has taken drugs and lost his virginity behind a pub. This is big public school energy. Including any singing to seals.

I do think there’s a lot of sadness behind it all but I also like the ‘fuck it’ energy. I like that it’s reminded everyone that William and Kate are cut from the same cloth and aren’t saintly. We ALL KNEW THIS because we saw it when they were in their early twenties and Kate was out on the lash. I like Kate too!

we also know that Princess Margaret was a massive liability and famously a total bitch but she has an intriguing side too so I don’t understand that faux outrage about Harry.

I like that it’s covered everyone in a bit of shit basically, because like I said I like Kate (not so much William) but they are insufferably smug and WE KNOW that they are all involved in tawdry diva shit so it’s annoying that they wang on about being so wholesome- and I find it sickeningly deferential that so many people uphold that and insist W + K are above it all because they always look so well groomed.

also if you’re going to pore over it you may as well be enjoying it! I’m not denying that on purely entertainment value it’s great.

Keeping the lock of hair isn't particularly weird; it used to be common for people to put locks of hair in a locket. And some people have jewellery etc. made out of their loved one's ashes so 🤷‍♀️

There's plenty to make fun of without resorting to this.

I agree, I'm just saying that I would find it creepy. My DH has his DDads ashes in a filing cabinet in our house because he doesn't know what to do with them and if I'm honest it feels odd to me. No way would I let him keep them on the bedside table but again, each to their own.

But I think this detail (given by Harry himself) is more indicative of the fact that his whole life has been consumed by losing his mother and all the therapy he's supposedly had seems to have been of no help whatsoever. That is actually really sad.
